I'm getting the V2 Darryl but I may be confusing issues between the V! and V2 because of DingerCPA post about his V2 and crxess post about the issue of the dimples for the threaded cap ring causing the scratching.lol

Whatever the case may be, I will be careful to resolve any issue I find before messing up new cells.

This will be my first regulated sub-ohm mod and I ordered it due to the price point when comparing it with the SXmini 350 which was my initial choice. I saw in an earlier post of yours that you weren't particularly sold on that item for the price difference also. I just wonder if the temp control version, due for release some time in March, will put it ahead of the evolve chips at that price point. I'd like to test the waters with temp control but am not understanding the tech babble about joules as a measure of temp. and so, will get my feet wet with the ipv mini before venturing into those waters.

I think you are making a wise choice by going for the iPV mini II first.

Also, from my understanding of the way current devices regulate heat is by the use of nickle wire in the coil. If that is the only way to do so, it wont be a benefit if you use tanks with stock replacement coils.

NICKEL WIRE - HEAT Control Devices only!
Standard Regulated mods have no way of controlling Heat by regulating through Resistance changes.
I would rather stick to standard devices and tanks as I have several Regulated already and several Mechanical Mods. Nickel Coil tanks cannot be swapped around.

Edit: I re-read and notice you were referencing the information on the new SX-mini SX350J

Ahhh yes, the sometimes forgotten, yet crucial re-read! LOL!

I've made the same mistake myself!

considering this as my first mod, stepping up from a vision spinner 2. its only about 15 more bucks to get the 2 compared to the original ipv mini... is it worth it to jump up to the ipv mini 2 compared to the original?

That will depend greatly on what you prefer using on Top. Devices that work well in the 5-20w range a re better suited to the Mini 30w and setting to PWM mode.
The 70w does not step down and is better for Open draw tanks and RDA's

Then again, if you Build your own coils, you can do just about anything to get the proper results. :D

Thanks, I think i'll stick with the original ipv mini, I am using pretty basic smoktech dual coil clearomizers....... for now at least

Just in case anyone is looking for an IPV Mini 2, Fluidvapes.com is selling them for $59.99: Mods : iPV Mini 2 70W

They have Gold, Silver and Red in stock. I've ordered once from them in the past and what I ordered arrived in 3 days in perfect condition. Other than that one time I have no more experience with Fluid Vapes.

If you have any plans on going to one of the new sub-ohm tanks, I'd suggest getting the mini II. I find that some eliquids have much better flavor on the II than on my former v1. I also have a few eliquids that I'll take up to 35-40W on my v2. The extra overhead and better chipset is worth the slight difference in cost. IMHO!

I might get there eventually, but I want to use up some of the coils on my current adc ii tanks before making the jump. The subtank looked like a good starting point. Would the 2 still work/improve vaping on the micro adc ii until I upgrade?

Yes, it would work fine with an adapter and that 1.5 ohm coil! I occasionally use the 1.2 ohm OCC in my subtank. Just start low on the wattage and work your way up till you hit your sweet spot for your vape preference. You'll probably not want to go any higher than 20-25W with a 1.5 ohm coil.

Just make sure you get the right 510 to ego adapter to allow you to use an ego threaded atomizer with a 510 mod! Like this one: 510 to [eGo] Adapter

Anyone have a side by side picture of the IPV Mini 2 and Sigelei 100w or 150w ?
also ive read on reddit that ipv mini 2 gets hot when vaping at 70watts? anyone else have issues like this?

Heat - That is going to depend on the sink ability of your Atty, Vaping habit(chain vaping) and Battery level. The lower a battery gets, the more Draw on the battery to deliver wattage set.

If you are after a consistent 70w Vape you should consider a 100w+ Mod.(dual Batt.)

Personally I wouldn't vape the 2 at 70W continuously, even though the mini II is rated that high. I haven't gone above 50 yet on mine, to me the extra wattage is just overhead and wont really be needed unless I venture into .2 ohm area!

Much along the lines of what crxess said, if you consistently use 70W now on the mini II... I'd seriously go with the 150 sigelei as you'll probably go to 100W consistently with that. I like to have overhead in any electronic device, to not use it at max wattage, voltage, etc. I do the same with home audio and all other electronics when possible!

Got a replacement IPV Mini v2. Still has the bump in the tube which is how they do them, but this one doesnt have a sharp bit at the end like the last one to scratch my battery.

Everything else about it is good. Power button is very slightly tilted on one side but barely. Im sure if I wanted I could fix it by taking it apart with a hex tool but I can live with it for now. Power button is more spongy then the up and down arrow but still has a slight click. Threading on the battery cap is smooth.

Put a stainless steel black wrap on it. Looks pretty sweet.

The grain looks really nice. Better in person.
