I'm a network administrator for a living, and also a video gamer. Product delays are the norm in my world.

Intel is a year late on delivering their Skylake architecture. I just got GTV V on the PC after more than 6 months in delays. Waiting for Nvidia to release their Pascal chipset next winter which should have been out now. Surely Intel, Nvidia, and Rockstar are professional companies.

It's an electronics product. Delays are not unusual. And I would rather have 4 months of delays and have added features and proper testing than be one of the istick 50W owners who is on their third istick because they keep auto-firing.

I agree, and I too have been waiting for GTAV on PC and don't even get me started on the Heists. And Duke Nukem Forever I preordered 12 years before it came to be (and it was a lie, entirely.) One of my major complaints about this situation is P4Y's previous track record. Rockstar, Nvidia etc are professional companies with decent track records and delays are normal - what's not normal and professional are lies and excuses.

GTAV had trailers and screenshots and what they showed Id get, I got, I still haven't officially seen an IPv4 that wasn't computer rendered or a dummy model and it's supposed to be released in 4 days (and in February.) Also, as I said, according to vendors, less than 2 weeks ago it wasn't even built yet. That's disconcerting as it would make sense to fully test something before you mass produce it - not fully test something after 4,000+ units have been made (but according to them, they had been done and would ship out by the end of Marchv- that would indicate they were mass produced, when they clearly were not. But why lie about it?

Since you're a gamer, here's what their lies, excuses and hiding what the product that was supposed to be released months ago reminds me of: Duke Nukem Forever, Aliens: Colonial Marines and Watchdogs. Delivering a product that looks and works nothing like what was promised. Those devs have now forever tainted their names to consumers. Any time Gearbox, 3D Realms or Ubisoft announces a game now, consumers that were affected by their previous releases will raise some eyebrows.

Again, I'm not mad at all. This was just in response to someone that didn't understand why everyone on the forum was upset about the delay. My only point was, given the company's past by delaying the ipv3 (aka removing features you paid for and not including parts you were promised) I don't blame people for being upset/worried about what this delay could mean - especially considering they can't actually see what they invested in.

My personal guess is this: it's not being tested nor is anything being removed - I bet that they're delaying the IPV4 because of the SX Mini release and they don't want to step on Yihi's sales. My opinion anyway.

Right behind you...
I make video games for a living. (Side note, interviewed for a gig with Romero for a couple hours back in '06. Genuinely nice guy, the Daikatana ego, if there ever was one that wasn't a marketing tactic, was gone by that point. I turned the gig down though).

Anyway, with a modern AAA title, there's just too many variables to set a solid release date, but we're forced to pick one by publishers. It's the rare studio that has the clout (or budget) to say "we'll ship when it's ready".

And for God's sake, stop pre-ordering games. You're just enabling the vultures at the publishers (I know, redundant) and screwing the developers in the long run.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't GTA V delayed less than 2 weeks before it's release date? And then delayed again a month after that?

I'm not sure what you're talking about here. There have been test units of the IPV4 for months.

All over 2 months old.

So they've had test units, and since then they've done a pre-production run on their assembly line and have been testing those for faults before putting the units into full production for commercial sales.

And for the record, if you're getting your information from vendors, especially ones taking preorders, then remember this... VENDORS LIE. Vendors will tell you stories to keep you happy and to make sure you don't cancel your preorder. Seems the vendors you've been talking to have either been less than truthful or at the very least less than knowledgeable. I've been tracking the IPV4 though the half dozen different Pioneer4You and Shenzhen Green Leaf Technologies facebook pages. They've had test units, and their first large scale production run was not meant for commercial sales, it was for testing the manufacturing process. Full scale commercial production comes after the test run has been completed to satisfaction and any manufacturing problems corrected.

They say there's no such thing as a wrong opinion, but there is such a thing as an opinion based on wrong information. Yours fits that.

And speaking of information....

Lol i totally agree i would rather wait for it to be right than have another istick ordeal as you speak of, i am currently on my 3rd istick lol.. 1st one did the power low error aprox 6 out of 10 fires and the 2nd worked fired perfectly fine but would not take a charge. So yeah i got the 1st of 3 isticks around the 2nd week of release but after going thru the return/replace process twice it was about a month and a half after release by the time i had an actual working product, i too am eagerly waiting but at the same time kind of hoping mine will not be a first run model

There are multiple videos from P4U of the thing on Youtube, and pictures floating around of units in the factory partially assembled waiting for parts.

They also never announced that the things were done, part of the problem with the whole thing has been their lack of stating actual facts.

I am not certain that P4U ever gave a release date. It has been the resellers that jumped on the presale deal.

I think a LOT of people got confused when the IPV4 and IPV V2 Mini 70W were both announced together by originvape.com. They had the line ""This mod ships out to us from Green Leaf at the end of January or beginning of February." right below the IPV V2 Mini 70W specs, and I think a lot of people assumed that meant that both mods would be shipping in that time frame since the IPV4 specs were directly above that.

Pioneer4You has never given a specific release date for the IPV4 that I'm aware of.

I think this hidden pioneer4u webpage may be of some assistance.

I have a feeling they had a few units assembled before they decided to go with the new temp protected chip. and, if that is the case and they had to pull chips from units that would explain a lot.... I could be totally off base though ;) all I know for sure is that I want my IPV4 soooon haha, the suspense is killin' me....

Sales time = Date they begin taking orders from resellers.

They only announced the thing on January 7th, surely you don't think they would be shipping them just 2 weeks later without giving resellers a chance to place their orders or having any idea how much of a demand they would have. NOBODY does blind manufacturing, producing thousands of units without having a single order in place.

You've got to announce the product.
Then you've got to give resellers a time to figure out how many units they want to buy and how they are going to pay for them.
Then you've got to add up all of your orders and start calculating the demand.
Then you've got to make sure you've got enough workers trained to fulfill your manufacturing needs and hire and train additional people if you don't.
Then you start your first preproduction run to test the manufacturing process and look for defects and places where the process doesn't work as expected.
Then you've got to make corrections and adjustments and run a second round of preproduction units to make sure your changes have corrected any errors.
Only after all of that is completed can you actually begin full scale production for commercial sales.

This was NEVER going to release to the public in January, or February, or even March, and Pioneer4You never once said they would. They just started taking orders from resellers in the last week of January. Orders = sales.

And.... the temp control? Is this only temp protection (ie batteries) ? This is the feature I am stuck on.....

Ive had the IPV4 for about 24 hours now. TC works as advertised. They call it "Joule" mode. Similar to the dna40 you'll need ni200 and it will not fire once it detects dry cotton/ temps over your desired settings.

Edit: if you're in the market for a TC mod, for the price of the IPV4, I would say its very worth it. Granted I haven't had it for that long but I've had to fiddle with it less than when I started my venture into TC with the dna40.
