Is 510 atty better than the 901?

I am planning to get a 501. From what I have read here, the 501 attys heats faster than the 901 delivering faster vapor. Or is it just the same in performance? I see quite a number shifting from a 901 to a 501. Or is it just because of the manual switch?

It is unclear what the primary factor is that makes them hotter, but I would suspect it is battery amperage. The batteries drain really fast compared to a 901, which I think provides the reasoning behind its fast heat up.

The 510's give a hotter vapor in my opinion. Always a down side to this. Shorter battery life.

The 501 isn't wildly better then a smooth running 901. It's good though, get one. The best part really is the total control the manual switch gives you. The downside is you can't hold it in your mouth and puff away the way you can with an auto battery.

As far as vapor level, a clean 901 with a good battery produces a significant amount as well.


Both are good, if you have good parts for your 901.

I think the real reason why the 510 runs hotter and drains batteries faster lays in the resistance of the coil. It is a smaller coil than most, therefore creating less resistance and drawing more amperage. I think for vapor production and close to real smoke experience, the 510 hits as close to the sweetspot as I have found.

I love the 901 on my SD and Magnum LV I also use it on my Nebula/Vapor King batteries and it works good on them as well. I don't have a 501 but I did have a M402 and I can say that it out performs that one by a mile on ether the mods or Nebula / Vapor King batteries.

901 on a manual switch is awesome. I modded a 901 battery with a manual switch and vaped it to death, problem is there was no way to recharge it after ripping out all the electronics so I converted it to a passthrough...

Wonder no more! Sailebao is now manufacturing manual batteries and passthroughs for 801 (maybe 901 too). You can get them in the US from Good Prophet or something like that.

maskgeek - When I first started I needed SIMPLE and I was still overwhelmed. I stayed on this forum for a few months trying to learn all of the little tips and tricks other members had experienced. This was after trying a two-piece job that was horrible and not worth the money spent to send it back.

Then I got the 901 and now I have the 510 and I really like them both. However, I have turned the 901 over to my DH and we will see how it goes with him. I think the 901 is great to get your feet wet, so to speak, and the 510 appeared to be the next obvious step for me, since I can't get the mod I want until later this year.

I do find that the 510 has a warmer, smoother vapor and I like the control you get over your vaping experience with the manual. I also heard from one of my favorite suppliers that they are getting ready to rollout the 901 manual battery. I am so eager to try this out.

Sure would like to get one of those! I use the 901 atty on the KR808d-1 battery and enjoy it - would really like to check out its performance on a manful battery.
