I have switched to dual coils only iclear 16's and 30's. Are you saying there would not be much of a difference in flavor and vape if I used a carto?
In my opinion and from my personal experience with both yes. The ikenvape platinum's blew away my iclear 30 and 16's. Once I tried them I would not ever go back to the iclear's. There was a massive difference for me both in flavor and as far as ease of use no question again ikenvape in a tank is the clear winner. No fuss works everytime till it dies then replace for less than $2.00
Now with that said most of my everyday mods have kayfuns or russians on them. I would take them over cartotanks but that is just me and I still have 3 cartotanks set up at all times.

I've actually been quite pleased lately with all my clearos. I think I just mastered their various quirks - but now it's easy-peasy, and they're all working well. Still - I wanted to try a carto-tank due to comments like those on this thread.

I'm now vaping an IBTanked, and I'm not sure if I'll switch for everyday use yet.
Of course, I'm still futzing around when filling...so it seems less convenient to me, and I imagine that will change to about even...
Flavor-wise, surprisingly, not a huge difference to me.

The biggest difference so far is the RANGE of voltage that's OK. I CAN if I WANT, crank the tank up way hotter than a ProTank can handle. That may be a real differentiator, when I try different juices in a tank - I may be missing nuances in flavors because a PTank coil gets burn-ey before I reach certain temps. We'll see!
(note - I rebuilt a coil or two, I'm just no good at it. I AM pretty good so far at DIY juice, so that's that).

I really really wanted something special for the ProVari that I just ordered - so I have another tank on the way (Kir Fanis!).
And I trust Bad's recommendations, and I found some Ikenvape cartos in the classifieds! Those just arrived today - right now I'm on a Smok 2 ohm single coil.

So that's my first impression: Not "Blown Away" but not done yet!

If you like cartomizers, you will like carto tanks. It's that simple. Try some cartos sans tanks first and see how that goes. Tanks don't do much by themselves--they just provide steady supply of eliquid to the filler.

There are people who love cartomizers and there are those who swear they can taste the polyfill inside and won't use them.

Only you know what you like--or dislike.

Good luck!

Ok... sold... I have 2 DCT glass tanks with the metal outer covering coming ( one black/1 silver ) and a 10 pack of slotted cartos. Just gonna try out my juice in these, protank II, evod, drip tip, RBA, and pyrex aero tanks... I will find my sweet spot and gift the rest away at my christmas vaping party...

I am also on the fence with all this, baditude gives some great advice and help from what I have read so far.

My question is, can I just use a cart to test the waters? Do I need the tank to see if I like all this? Can I just vape off a non punched cart for a bit? Does the tank really add to the flavor?

Yes, you can. That is what I am doing right now. Looking at carts to see if I like them again.

Out of the minimal amount of exposure I have had to devices and delivery systems, it the best to date. The flavor, TH, draw, vapor and smoothness is really surprising. I had to look at it after I vaped. I couldn't believe "that came from that!?!"

I will gladly pass along all of my BCC's to my wife, who loves her EVODs. Whoodathunk... just yesterday my favorite was a ProTank or EVOD. It's amazing how one little delivery device can change your whole experience. Now I know what all the hooplah was about.

The tank is just an e-liquid reservoir for the cartomizer. The carto is the piece doing all the work. This is why it's important to find the brand of cartomizer which you will prefer.

A tank will help allow the carto to be more consistant. The main drawback to using a carto solo is you can't see the juice level within it. It can be difficult for a novice to know when to add more e-liquid to prevent burning the polyfill. Used in a tank, the carto gets replenished with the right amount of e-liquid each time you take a puff. There is minimal issues with the carto going dry if it is wicking properly, and being constantly wet prolongs the expected lifetime of the cartomizer.

I have tried clearos cartos and RBA's and I still go back to my carto tanks. They are just the best.

I started vaping after talking to 2 guys I see all the time in the smoking area around the office. I noticed they had switched to e-cigs not too long ago and wanted to get some info on how it worked from them. They both had pen vapes, one with a small carto tank and one with an clearo. The guy told me that I should get the clearo because it was much easier to fill. When I went to the shop he recommended they didn't really ask me if I wanted a carto. Their beginner kit was a ego twist with a clearo. And then when I went back and got a larger mod, they showed me a SID with an iClear30.

I liked the clearos and ended up ordering a couple of Protanks and have been happy with them, but I've been to try e-juice at 5 or 6 different B&Ms in the area and all of them used cartos for their juice bar.

It was only recently after buying 1 particular juice(Ecto Cooler by Fuzion) that I've started looking into cartos. It tasted great in the shop, but didn't taste as good in my clearos at home. Even on my cooler Protanks, it tasted a bit harsh and windex-y instead of the smooth vape I remember when I was trying it at the B&M with a carto. Was it just my noob inability to set up my clearos correctly, or do cartos really have a better taste like some claim?

I'm not quite ready to invest a bunch of money into IBtanked setups yet, but I did order a couple of cheaper carto tanks yesterday(new Boge F16 Pyrex v2 and Smok Pyrex U-DCT v2) to try them out. We'll see how it goes.

edit: Oh, and huge thanks to Baditude. Reading his very informative posts about cartos and how you set them up and use them helped me feel comfortable enough to order the tanks yesterday! :D
