I am also on the fence with all this, baditude gives some great advice and help from what I have read so far.

My question is, can I just use a cart to test the waters? Do I need the tank to see if I like all this? Can I just vape off a non punched cart for a bit? Does the tank really add to the flavor?

Rob

You can, but with a tank it works different, the cart stays saturated so you dont have to top off every dozen hits or so

I'm trying some stand alone Kanger cartos right now and they are definitely better than my Pro-Tank or iCLear30.

I think going to get a Smoktech DCT tank. I use an MVP 2. What resistance cartos should I get? They vary from low 2.0 ohm to standard 2.8-3.0 ohm. I'm looking into getting the Ikenvapes either Fusion or Platinum, which?

i like 2.0 but i watched what's his name pbsuardo's review.
mvp2 was most accurate using 2 ohms.

check www.desertvapes.com for dct tanks, i bought 4 from them. they don't come with drip tips but they were around $6 a piece. and i buy driptips from fast tech all the time.

also fast tech, i bought 4 from them around $5 i think, different colors, the green in person is a lot prettier than the picture they have listed.

i buy my cartos from ibtanked, if you buy 10 the price drops.
also the thingy ibtanked sells makes priming a breeze, with or without the tank. i have ordered 12 of those!

which ever ikenvapes you get, get the flanged ones!!! i made the mistake of getting the ones that didn't have it, and well it's a mess because the tank will slide right off.
ikenvapes are out of stock a lot. so in the mean time you always have ibtanks smokcartos.

i love my smok dct, and i have ibtank, just one because they are pricey but i will be getting more.

good luck and update how you like or don't like what you get!

I've tried out both the Smok UDCT v2 and the Boge F16 v2. Both pyrex. Seems that's where everything is headed now so no point buying a non-glass tank these days. Both work pretty well. The Boge F16 v2 interestingly works better with Smok cartos than with the one that came installed. Not sure why. Maybe I just got one with a bum carto inside.

The IBtanked Smok flanged cartos seem really cheap. Cheaper than buying bulk from Fasttech or any other site I've seen. I'm holding off on ordering an IBtanked until later, but I'm tempted to just put in a bulk order for the flanged cartos.

I can never seems to hit Ikenvape when they have cartos in stock. I use Boge XL LRs (F16) cartos and they are terrific in the Smoktech DCT tanks. I get mine here vapelite.info They are about $1.25 apiece in a 5 pack. Work for about 30ml of juice before I have to replace them at 8 watts. Good luck and have fun!

I took a look at that site. Some cheap tank cartos there. They had a Smok tank carto on sale really cheap, but could only buy 1. Bought a couple of boxes of the Boge tank cartos though. Thanks for the tip!

The proper resistance is important to your ultimate enjoyment of a carto. Resistance determines the warmth of the vapor. Do you like warm or cool vapor? LR will be warmer, SR will be cooler. These would be for a single/fixed voltage battery device.

Using a regulated mod like an MVP (variable voltage), you'll want a high resistance cartomizer (2.5 - 3.0 ohm) only because it will have a wider range of voltages which you can use ... from 3.4v to 5v. Using a LR cartomizer on a regulated PV would be a waste.

Ikenvape Platinum and 510-Fusion are quite similar, IMHO. The SR Platinum has no flange and is 2.5 ohm. The SR 510-Fusion have a flange and is 3.0 ohm. These would be best for regulated mods.

The LR Platinum and LR 510-Fusion are better for single/fixed voltage battery devices.

Baditude, thanks for clearing that up. So for my MVP it should be cartos in the 3.0 ohm range, preferably flanged.

Now if Ikenvape will just restock.
Yes, I use both the SR Platinum (2.5 ohm w/o a flange) and SR 510-Fusion (3.0 ohm w/flange); I notice no difference in their vape quality.

You can sign up to be placed on Ikenvape's "notify me" email list from the website. Once they give you notice that they are in stock, act quickly as the most popular models will sell out within 24 - 48 hours.
