From time to time, a thread pops up asking whether or not boutique juice vendors are worth the trouble, and we all know the trouble of limited order capacity / stock, odd hours, unpredictable hours, etc....

I picked up a few bottles from Ahlusion this month, and here's what I found:

Cherry Cola: STEEPING REQUIRED! Right out of the box, I took a sniff, and it was harsh, harsh, harsh. After a week, it still smelled like something from a chemistry set, but after the second week, I finally decided to load up a Protank and vape away. My first day with it was...meh. But, something happened for the second day. Maybe my timing was just right with the steeping. But, that second day, I got some wonderful cherry cola flavor. It's nothing overpowering with subtle notes of cola and cherry, but there's a finish to each puff that just lingered so nicely. This is quickly becoming my all day vape and just ordered a big, big bottle. I got 70vg/30pg at 12mg, so there's a good amount of vapor, but it is lacking a bit with the throat hit.

Tiramisu: This seems almost ready right out of the box. The bouquet has the bite and balance of alcohol, chocolate, cream, cake, and some cinnamon. Vaping this has been an absolute pleasure for me most mornings with a cup of strong coffee. The vape is layered with these flavors, and there's a sweet hint in the finish that has me hitting the PV again and again. I do prefer this in a carto rather than the Protank because the Protank seems to cut down the bite and layers. I got 70vg/30pg at 24mg, and the higher vg doesn't seem to mute this flavor at all. This one packs a punch for sure.

Sasparilla (yes, they spell it this way): Again, steeping required. After about 2 weeks, I finally gave this a vape, and this could easily be an all day vape. There is a balance of spice (sassafras) and sweet. There are notes of root beer, but sassafras is a major flavor for root beer, but it doesn't taste like root beer. I got my usual 70vg/30pg at 12mg. This one isn't a power house like the Tiramisu, but for an all day vape, I prefer understated flavors, something that has enough flavor to be crisp yet subtle enough to not make me sick of it. I can't vape Tiramisu all day; it's just too much.

Smooth Criminal (tobacco): Some people really like straight tobacco, and I gave this a shot because it had great reviews. I figured if I am going to try a tobacco flavor, might as well go with a boutique vendor. Well, I'm glad I got a small bottle because I have discovered that I do not like tobacco flavors. They taste leathery to me (I have had a chance to try some other tobacco flavors at my local B&M, so I have some basis of comparison). This might be rich with complexity, but it's just not for me. Specs: 70vg/30pg at 18mg.

Blueberry Vanilla Cake: Wow! Another rich, rich flavor, yet it has a smoothness to it unlike the tiramisu. The blueberry is rather dominant at the beginning of the vape, but by the end the vanilla cake takes over. This is a dessert juice for sure. I want a bottle of this close by for my after dinner treat. I got this at my usual 70vg/30pg at 12mg. Not much of a throat hit, but I'm not that concerned with that aspect of vaping.

Bottom line is that I am turning into an Ahlusion fanboy. I'm discovering that my vaping style is subtle flavors with spice and sweet for during the day and stronger, rich flavors for my mornings and evenings. I do like the massive clouds of vapor, so I'm constantly on the hunt for heavier vg juices that have flavor, and Ahlusion has delivered thus far. Feel free to reply with contradictions, thoughts, bad jokes, good jokes, similar experiences, etc, etc... Happy vaping everybody!

Great stuff! How long did you let Smooth Criminal steep? A lot of longtime Ahlusion fans give that one at least a month. Did you get the tingly sensation from W&A Sasparilla? For some people, it's there when it's fresh, but fades with time. W&A Sasparilla has become one of my favorites, while Peachy Criminal (Smooth Criminal's sister) has been my favorite new (to me) juice of the year so far.

ditto on the smooth criminal steeping.... it was only vapable for me after 10 days and it got better after that - cap open on it now even - same with JG Blend. House Blend didn't take as long for me. Gold Rising never made it :-\

I've had this smooth criminal at least a month. I think it comes down to me not liking straight tobacco flavors. I think I let my Sasparilla steep past the tingly. I've got some more en route and will try it upon first arrival for sure.
