Well the more I listen to you the more right you are and truth be told now I'm back on the fence. All I wanted was to smoke a pipe and thought I found a safe alternative haha. I'll give it time to sink in and really think about it but you are a beacon of light when I was full fledged on jumping in the deep end.

I very nearly consider myself part of this camp myself sometimes, looking at everyone who has come from PAD and above habits. I would have one cig a night tops when I was out walking or chatting on the phone. I now vape fairly heavily with juices ranging from 36mg to 0mg depending upon how I feel that day, but I will qualify that and say in addition to dropping the one analog a night I would smoke, I have also stopped drinking energy drinks and coffee, no longer snack on junk food constantly (hurray for butterscotch and vanilla vapes), and have been off my anti-depressants for good since I started vaping six weeks ago. The nicotine keeps my blood flowing, and I've gone for a few of those six weeks on 0mg juices with little ill effect as long as I got a good night's sleep to avoid being tired, so I'd say I'm also not addicted to nicotine.

To the OP: I see no reason not to vape with 0mg juices, but I cannot in good concious recommend using ANY amount of nicotine in your liquids, as for most people it's an incredibly hard addiction to beat. I know I just went on about not being addicted myself, but I'm wired drastically differently from 99.9% of people when it comes to substance addiction. I've drank until I'm bleary-eyed for weeks and never found myself craving a drink after I was done, I've smoked half a pack a day in college and stopped buying smokes for the summers without a single desire for a cig, etc. Very few people can say that sort of thing with a straight face in my experience. So accept that nicotine is just as dangerous of an addiction as anything else, and stick to nic-free juices, enjoy it for the flavors and maybe it'll keep you from having cigs pushed in your face too, if that happens to be an underlying issue you're not mentioning for whatever reason.

That's all I'm saying. No such thing as a free lunch, just know the risks and make an educated decision. You took the first step, coming here and asking questions, much better a thread like this instead of a "Help I started vaping and now I think I'm addicted" thread.

I have not started vaping yet but am very interested after playing with a friend's ecig and was wondering if I was a minority here because I am not a smoker and have never smoked.
seriously i would not pick up this habit..only ex-smoker hooked on nicotine from analogs and through vaping can help addict like us to kick the analog habit.. vaping still unproven and we all are guinea pigs in our new journey as a vaper..as a ex-smoker of 30+ yrs and 2 + yrs as a vaper..i hope 1 day i am no longer a vaper too like U..so please dont start..regards mafig

Just so you know, you who vape now with no prior smoking history could in fact be of great help in determining the health effects of vaping.

Since you have no prior smoking history, there will be no overlap of adverse effects, since you smoke 0 mg nicotine juice, you're in a position to determine whether any of the other chemicals in vaping juices could possibly have any adverse effects on your health.

This is of course only if you're in the mood to do a little homework.

i quit smoking cigarettes 6 years ago, so the e-cigarette intrigued me. I quit because I was doing a lot of cycling and I needed all my lung power for that. I started having the urge to smoke again, but didn't want to deal with the smell, mess, and the stigma of being a smoker in an increasingly non-smoking world. My first e-cig was a "Clean Cig", but I had a really hard time finding the cartomizers for them. I went online and ordered some about 3 weeks ago and I am still waiting. So I went back online and found GreenSmoke; I ordered a cool designer battery, a charger and some cartomizers. I only paid $6 for shipping and my order arrived in 3 days. The clove flavor I love was available and they offer a monthly subscription plan so you don't even have to re-order every time you need cartomizers.

I considered myself a non smoker, but I did use Copenhagen snuff for 30 years.
I started vaping with the idea it was an enjoyable thing to do, little did I know I'd have no more want/need for snuff.
I don't even care if I do go back to it as it was never my intention to quit, I quit imo as vaping and chewing at the same time is too much nicotine for my system. Of course I hope I don't go back as snuff is hard on the digestive system.

I find vaping more acceptable than snuff by others, and even more enjoyable. I don't think I'd want to see a non-smoker start vaping with nic tho. I use 24mg juice and its no joke on the nicotine front. I'm rather sure I could go back to chew and stop vaping if need be, but stopping vaping would be a nightmare with no nic as a goal.

My opinion... You are an adult, so just make an informed decision. Since vaping hasn't been around long enough to know the long term affects, there is an unknown risk involved. If your choice truly is pipe tobacco or vaping, I can honestly say go with vaping. As for nicotine, there are recent studies that show it's not all that addictive once you remove the other chemicals from tobacco combustion. More studies are warranted, but the preliminary evidence suggests a risk profile similar to caffeine, depending on the dosage.

Many of us here were "slaves" to cigarettes before we found vaping, so we can tend to be on the passionate side of the subject of starting vaping without an existing dependency on nicotine. Some of that is from personal experience, and some probably comes from the anti-smoking campaigns that have been quite effective in getting their message across. In any case, you'll find a good number of people who have regrets from bad decisions, and are trying to help you avoid those same regrets.

As I said, you're an adult, so just make the best informed decision for yourself and be happy.

Absolutely no disrespect to you, OP, or any other non-ex-smoker vapers who've posted here, but you need to understand the paranoia (I'd rather call it extreme caution) that crops up when you ask us "should I start vaping if I never smoked?"

As you are new to vaping, you may not be aware that one of the favorite arguments against ecigs used by ANTZ (anti-nicotine and -tobacco zealots) and tobacco prohibitionists is the "gateway theory," that use of ecigs will likely lead someone into smoking tobacco cigarettes. Although studies have shown this not to be the case in any statistically significant numbers, the ANTZ trot out the gateway theory at every opportunity. And they check this and other forums regularly, so believe me, they've already seen this thread and may likely add it to their arsenal.

I personally am a fanatical believer in the right of everyone to make their own informed lifestyle choices, as long as they're also prepared to take responsibility for the consequences of those decisions. And I personally believe that if a non-smoker is going to make a choice between starting to smoke and starting to vape, their choice will be to vape! But I am also all too well aware that what we say, and how we say it, can and will be used against us in the ongoing War on Ecigs.

So please don't be insulted or hurt or put off by what may seem to be negative reactions to your situation. We really do want to help you, but we also want to protect our access to vaping.

Imo- Vaping is the perfect life detour from making a devastating decision. The only way I could have quit smoking would have been to not make the bad decision in the first place.

I hate the gateway argument. I was wired to smoke. I came assembled that way. So was my wife. We both fear that one or more of our 4 children are wired too. If they ever start I will push hard for them to vape right away. If they vape first I will be thrilled.

Boy oh boy, need to wrap a new tinfoil hat, how many folks with less then 15 posts to their name just chimed in about never using tobacco but being vapers? Not saying you all are but.....This will be the end to Vaping as we know it. There is nothing BT would like better then vaping being taken up by kids and non-tobacco users.
