maybe if MK or vape360 could do a little something or other (nudge, nudge....aaahhuuummmm.......chime in anytime here) just joking, i know you guys are very busy but anything at this point could be helpful.....could it be the AW batt (bad batch...old batch) could the processor be failing in some way, or ............. I am stuck on this one.......

I don't know! I'm also kind of stuck.

That is why I'm asking questions.

The more information that the users with this issue post, the easier it will be to troubleshoot the issue.

Here is something else I noticed since yesterday.

I set the Lo feature to OFF. I wanted to see when will the ProVari shut off without the button flashing low-battery warning. When it finally shot off the first time, I took the battery out and reinserted it to check the voltage using the Cb menu feature. It read 3.7V. I took the battery out and tested it with two different DMMs to comapare and the battery metered at 3.86V. I put the battery back inside the ProVari and kept on vaping for a while (roughly a couple of hrs). When the unit shot off the second time, the Cb reading was 3.5V and the DMM reading was 3.64V. I attempted to vape again with the same battery and the unit shot off after a few minutes. The Cb reading was 3.4V and the DMM reading was 3.52V

I ran this test twice so far with two different AW IMR 18490 batteries, using a 2.2 ohm atty at 5V. Results from both tests were very similar, within 0.3V on the DMM.

The reason why I'm mentioning this is because I've heard from a few people who believe that their batteries don't last very long between the charges in their ProVari as if they are getting discharged a lot quicker than expected from the specific mah rating. I've heard reports of batteries lasting as little as 3-4 hrs between the charges even with 18650 IMR batts. My speculation, based on my tests, is that many people don't bother testing their batteries when the button starts flashing but rather assume that the battery has reached the 3.5 voltage while it's possible that the battery, if tested, may meter at 3.7V or possibly much higher. I obviously don't know the reason for this behavior but I'm looking forward to gaining the understanding of it.

I believe when using the Cb feature on the ProVari that it does this test while the battery is under load, as to why the battery voltage readings are lower on the ProVari than the voltage readings on the DMM.

Very good point! Thanks for pointing that out. Brain fart... :)

Btw, if I remember correctly, the flashing is supposed to happen at 3.5V and the actual cutoff is supposed to be at 3.3V, right?

My Black ProVari starts flashing in 3-4 hours on the orange AW18490IMR's like clockwork. My original Silver unit never had this problem.

Hey cuseguy,

I'm just curious, what's the Cb battery voltage reading on your black ProVari when the button starts flashing? Tnx...

This is correct on the meter readings vs. the ProVari reading. It will test the battery on a load so you will get a different reading.

As for those that start flashing early, if you are using a black extended end cap, check the little pocket that the spring sits in and make sure its clean otherwise it might not be getting a good ground.

For the black end caps check that pocket to make sure there is no overspray that might have gotten in there from the powder coating process. If you have a little powder coat overspray, just scrape it out. You only need to do it in the spring pocket. Also check that the threads are clean on the tube and end cap :)

What about those of us not using the extended cap?

I really want a Provari, but this thread is kind of scary... :(

Plus, I´ll be overseas, it would suck to have that problem and need to repair...

Hope you can get to the bottom of this soon...

My sincere apologies for your new found fears. I don't think it has been anyone's intention to scare off any new potential buyers. ProVape is an outstanding company and the ProVari is absolutely an awesome PV! Please understand that there are probably a couple of thousand very satisfied ProVari owners, myself included. It performs beautifully over and over, every single time! I personally am not suggesting that there is a problem, I was simply explaining my experience in hopes of understand what is happening and to hopefully help out someone who may have similar questions and circumstances. Personally, I wouldn't worry about anything. By now I'm sure you are aware that ProVape will take care of you should anything go wrong. Based on many customer testimonials I think they have proven themselves more than a few times. I am thrilled to finally own this device!!!

Maybe you read this Charging Lithium-ion – Battery University
I have a Charger for Model Plane and Helicopters and i was wondering why i get only 6 hours of Vape from a 18650 Battery till it shuts down, but reading the Batteryuniversitystuff and charging the Batteries a few Times with my Charger i think that the Provari works perfectly.
The problem is we Vape to much because it tastes so good. And the higher Output Voltage of the Provari drains a battery a lot more too.
So buy a few more Batteries, Problem solved.

@evOlution
Buy it, if not you regret it.

exactly....to get an accurate reading with the provari, remove the atty before doing the batt check, and you will get the true reading not the "under load" reading.....

+1....I can certainly attest to this, had to send mine back two days after i got it and vape360 had one in the mail to me as soon as he recieved it...it was not a malfuntion of any kind I got a chrome se model and there was a slight chip in the finish.. I am in no way dissatisfied with my provari and it works just fine...i would rather unscrew my battery cap 20 times a day to reset my processor, than not have a provari.....

Order one you won't regret it!

I wouldn't let this thread scare you into waiting to buy one.

If there was any kind of a major problem with the ProVari this thread would be huge.

From what I have read on ECF here I would have to say, compared to the number of ProVari's that are out there, there has only been a very small number of people that have had any kind of an issue with their ProVari. I can also add that I feel very confident that if I ever should have an issue with my ProVari that ProVape will resolve it and resolve it as fast as possible.

I agree with the last couple Posts, I waited over a month and a half to get one, spent over 300 dollars searching for that "Less Expensive but equally Great" PV it just doesn't exist yet. I like all of my other PV's and I have a lot of em' but all of their individual qualities are perfectly combined in this One device, plus the added convenience of being able to dial in exactly what you want with extreme ease.
