Is it dangerous to vape with an atomizer that shorts if it's too tight?

Hi, I'm vaping on a cloud beast smok TFV8 on an eleaf iPower 80w ( I know, not the best combo). Today I put in a V8-X4 .15Ω and my mod said, "atomizer short." After doing some research I took off the V8 and tried to reset it with no luck. While screwing it back on I noticed that my ohmsΩ changed to .17 but as I continued to screw it went back to 0. As it stands, I left the atomizer on there but it's not grip tight, it's borderline snug. There was no wiggling when I applied pressure to it. Is it safe for me to vape on something that shorts if it's too tight?

I have the same tank.

Try a different coil would be my suggestion.

Those coils have a tiny wire (or two or three) that has/have to contact another tiny part just a certain way. If it comes out to far, then it shorts against the tank

I could see this perhaps being a problem.

Also - if there's a way to do a hard reset on your mod, that might fix things if it's not the coil.

Is it dangerous? Not with a regulated mod. You’re relying on the mods electronics to keep you from blowing up your battery though so it’s not something I would suggest
Agreed!

The OP would have to REALLY trust whoever designed the mod's safety circuits.

For a $3 coil, not worth the risk.

If it's the issue I think it is (and admit I am not an expert) - it's totally bypassing the coil and just sending electricity from the positive pin on the mod right back to the ground.

Only coil that's done this, my previous 3 were fine but it's different than my previous 3.

Glad you got it sorted. Best when it's just a problem with one coil to throw the bad coil out and put in a new. When it's a problem with every coil then you have to locate and fix said problem. Never wise to continually rely on safety features... always best to fix your problem.
