The vaping ways ...

Getting there where you feel you want to be may require a step ... backwards, yes, but not as in 'retreating' . Perhaps more like in changing your perspective so that you can see the forest again and not just a jumble of trees. And when you feel fine right there - then you're there :)

vaping. Encompasses all - from the cigalikes to the latest ubermod. Where you feel at home in that broad range is your decision alone. Puff a disposable or chase clouds...still a vaper.
Just vaping, or turn into a hobby, a passion, an obsession...still a vaper.
Scrimping or splurging on hardware and liquids... still a vaper.
Much more space to find or choose your own place in the vaping universe.

Iv always thought that growth is proof of life.

That being said I do like to sit and stagnate for short periods of time. Maybe I "steep", LOL.

Congrats on the DIY, Ya, if everyone knew how easy it is, :?)
It really sets you free,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I picked a style that keeps me off tobacco and stay with that and only upgrade if there is something that is cost effective and longer lasting. I have used the same liquid for 4 years and see no reason to expand my horizons, not a flavor or cloud chaser, just an ex smoker who is committed to remaining so and as long as I maintain that with the current setup, the rest is simply overkill.

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
I started with an MVP 2.0 eleven watt device , bought a few high wattage devices, bought a few , RDA'a , RBA's and after trying everything and anything i could get my hands on i'm back to my 20 watt MVP and a Kayfun V4 , an Orchid , two Nautiluses and an Aerotank Mega i got for $5.00 new .

I never vape over 20 watts even with my RDA's and i'm a happy camper , i just think the flavor i get is superior while vaping lower wattages , just my opinion of course .

I have been busting my .... and i have improved a lot on DIY , my juice is barely vapable , brutal actually but it used to be much worse (no joke) . DIY ing is not what i was meant to do , producing a juice that is close to being vapable is success to me.

I lost all passion for vaping to be honest , first year i was a complete animal , now it's kind of a pita .

Pretty much sums up where I am as well. Although I do make all my own juice and am experimenting around with it, so far 3 all day vapes. Vanilla custard, blueberries n cream, and watermelon. Playing with lemon custard, strawberries and cream and Peaches and cream right now and some cantaloupe.

Everyone has a preference so I wouldn't call it regressing.
Maybe settling in? I'm happy where I'm at now. I order juice once a month, 150ml. 3 flavors, 3 rtas. I change the cotton every 3 days and change the coil once a month. I have a schedule and its pretty easy to maintain. I don't see myself going to lower end gear but who knows, that could happen. The only thing I might buy is something less delicate for mountain biking and snowboarding.

I started with a tiny cig-a-like kit. It let me know that this will work. Advanced to ego style batteries and am now using both 1300mah spinners, mvp's and isticks. I have mechanical s and the know how to use them in my back-up box.

I went through the gauntlet of toppers, cartomizers, just about every iteration of small clearomizers (both top and bottom coil). Still enjoy using the little 1 ml CE3's from time to time and have enough of them to last me for a very long time. I finally gave in and bought a Lemo2 (still in the box it came in), 2 igo-w's (still in the box) and 2 GS-AIR-ms. I used one of the GS-AIR and kinda liked it but decided straight to lung hits are just not for me.

I've not gone backwards but I have settled on what works for me. I use mini-davide's, evod glass, mini Trophy, Aro type tanks with a 1.8 head. All of my toppers use the same 1.8 pro-tank/evod head so just one kind to keep up with and I rebuild them. My toppers make plenty of vapor for me. Wouldn't win any kind of competition but I don't do this for that. For me it is to leave smokes behind after having them for a crutch for over 45 years. And it is working :D

For a long time (4 years or so) I followed the upward progression. But after finding the best setup for me, I've ground to a halt. It's amazing to look back and see the trends. Right now it's high wattage boxes with drippers or subohm tanks. I've had no real interest in the high wattage boxes and I dripped into a regular atty on an eGo long enough to know I don't want to have to carry around a bottle. What do these guys do while driving, especially at night? I DIY and have one main mix and few other mixes that I vape in between the main one.

I've got a couple provari's and kayfuns and do use and enjoy them, cleaning and rewicking the coil is a hassle for me. I've settled on Reo grands with simple single coil RM2s. I haven't gone backwards... I've just stopped at what works best for me.

I'm not afflicted with shiny-itis, but I do have flavor-itis at the moment...

I do still buy gear, something new every other month or so, but I think of it as buying insurance. With the pending FDA deeming, and the possibility that the regulations that come from it could make 99% of our hardware illegal to sell. It could also result in regulations that affect availability and/or cost of flavored juices or juices that contain nicotine. It's all speculation what they will do, but the FDA has already shown that they hate vaping, so I think I'm better off preparing for the worst.

Please, if you haven't already, sign the petition to Congress regarding the FDA deeming, and share it with your friends and family (even those who don't vape - they need to know this could affect their loved ones) : Petition · U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, President of the United States: Reject the FDA's Deeming of Vapor Products as Tobacco Products · Change.org

that's where we're at..it's kept us off the smokes just over a year now and honestly I'm LOVING that it costs maybe ten bucks each if we've got to replace coils, if not it's like six bucks for the both of us to vape per week.

I think the "shinyitis" became self limiting with just having an enjoyable to me vape. I've never concerned myself much with what others have or are doing..so I'm good (for now..who knows..I might get crazy and buy a vape shop..for now though I'm good):thumb:

The irony of my stuff is the biggest money went into the crappiest gear. Worst was when I went from a C4 to a 1500 mah spinner with a TD3. I paid more for that then my IPV 4 with Orchid. Learning how to shop earlier could have saved me some coin.

Another big drag on me was fear of DIY. I can't remember why I was afraid but I was. I spent a lot of money on bad juice. Like car payment alot. First time I DIYed I was like this is it?? Where is the hard part?? Now I cook for myself a 3 close friends. Thats 8 packs of NY smokes at 10 bucks a DAY gone. 80 bucks in lost revenue for the state which reminds me everyday they are coming for us.

I only vape one flavor. I make alot of flavors for others but for myself I make a huge batch in a jelly jar. I'm a simple man. For others everything has to be done with feed back. The high nic stuff most of all. I bet my body is still at the same nic level as always I just can't stand the yuck taste of high nic juice at all anymore. I still have a jar of 12 mg juice left and while I vaped that exact jar for a long time now it tastes disgusting and I wanna puke. So what I do is mix a batch thats the same thing with no nic and mix them to get at 6. If things come to pass that force me to go back to low watt/ high nic I'll just quit all together.

I don't close my mind to the new things but I don't chase them either. Vaping is getting better everyday so standing still is missing out. But chasing the latest isn't my thing either. I have learned to never say never. I've learned to not talk about things I don't understand to avoid looking stupid. When I vaped at low watts I often said the high watts where crazy people because my little mind was closed and thinking of my Gladius at 30 warts. But then I learned how to build to 30 warts and and get a even cooler more flavorful vape then I was at 10 I realized more was going on then I understood. So when my son asked me to try his mod at 100w I said sure and sure enough it wasn't anything like I had been lead to believe.

So I'm gonna post what I like right now and try and remember to look it up in a year and see where I'm at.

30warts. Maybe 40 but no more.

.5Ω. Maybe .4 to .7 but not much else.

High airflow tanks and RDA's.

6mg nic. Never more but maybe less.

I've settled into a comfortable spot. It doesn't fit the definition but I feel like I'm tootle puffing now. I only use a Herakles and a Starre . I run about 50 watts and take about 3 second draws. Compared to my older style I feel like I'm tootle puffing. I don't know what it is but it's perfect for me

I have to keep it simple. I buy cheap tanks, coils, vodka to soak them and when my MVP and istick start losing charge I'll replace them. I don't have shinyitis and I never will. Flavors are what I'm into now although that's kind of strange since I have vapers tongue very often. Oh well. I'm a budget vaper.

the first 6 months I had what I considered was a pretty serious case of shinyitis. Once I hit that plateau, I'm just found I was satisfied with what I was using. the first couple of months after that were kind of rough - I kept thinking I needed to buy something else. But what I found was I just needed to get more of what I already had. I love my Kayfun Lite tanks so now I have 9. Got me a couple of Subtank minis and my iStick50 and Sigelei 30 power them all extremely well. I don't need anything else now but juice and I'm happy at this level.

In vaping, simplicity and convenience are very important for me. After beginning of my vaping (a bit more than a year) I bought Fogger V4 and was extremely disappointed with it - tough to fill, needs dissasembly for rebuilding. No RTA for me, I decided. Tried RBA - was too fast burning through the juice. So, for a long time I was happily rebuilding protank coils (but no protank itself - too small). Started DIY a year ago, making in 10 minutes enough juice for a month. Then I learnt that newer versions of Kayfun and Taifun let to fill them through wide mouth bottle and do not need to be emptied for rebuilding. So, now I use them. I will not even try subohming (I believe high juice consumption is not a good thing). I do not think I need something new for a year or two. Then I'll see if something even more convenient appear on a market. Like temperature control for kanthal or absolutely leak proof RTA. I have found what amount of vapor I need, from now on I am looking only for convenience, not for something bigger and shinier.

For the first 18 months of vaping I was pretty obsessive, trying about every new thing and flavor I could. After making the rounds, I found a couple premixed liquids I continuously craved, one of which I could mix up myself. I liked a couple durable toppers with heads that were cheap and/or rebuildable, and settled into using them. After three years, I found the ideal smooth solid power source for my toppers and favorite liquids. I am thankful that I found my sweet spot.

My fiddling has come down to changing heads about once a month, an occasional dry burn and mixing up a 300-600ml batch of liquid every so often. Thanks to clearances, as my favorites fall out of favor, I am stocked up for years. I do rebuild, drip for fun occasionally and have some enjoyable varieties of equipment, but find myself choosing that far less often. Plug 'n Play works for me.

One frustration I experience is that I can't be of much help to newer vapers anymore, as my preferred setup isn't a new shiny development. One can't help troubleshoot stuff that they've never used. Vaping has become less hobby, more long term relationship. ECF and meets are still fun, just not as exciting once you jump off the upgrade train.

I have been vaping for over 2 years and I stopped moving forward a while ago. To begin with I think the frenzy of reading, buying, trying and testing helped me not smoke as it kept me occupied chasing the ‘perfect vape’. I spent a lot of money – but nowhere near as much as I would have if smoking (and I still have a cupboard full of useable stuff). I have no inclination at all for a cigarette now and I am really enjoying being in ‘maintenance mode’ – I am sure there are things which would give me a ‘better’ vape but the one I have is more than good enough for me for now. I found I loved unflavoured early on so never spent much time (or money) trying different flavours. I still use carto tanks when I want to just vape with no hassle at. I learnt to coil build on evod heads and still use in my aerotanks every now & then – this last year I’ve been practising making coils for my kayfuns which I love. I am trying to get to grips with everything I have bought in the past before moving on and still have a few things I've barely used but like e.g. spheroid. I love seeing and learning about all the new stuff – and I do like the idea of squonkers and TC. However, I just look now and feel in no rush to buy (how things change!). I’m not convinced there would be a massive improvement and even if there was it would involve a lot of time, trial and error learning to use them - at the moment I just can’t be bothered.
