Is it unusual to regress to simple stupid?

One frustration I experience is that I can't be of much help to newer vapers anymore, as my preferred setup isn't a new shiny development. One can't help troubleshoot stuff that they've never used. vaping has become less hobby, more long term relationship. ECF and meets are still fun, just not as exciting once you jump off the upgrade train.

I feel the same ;) All my stuff should probably be in a museum.

Newbs keep asking what battery do I need for "this" coil, and I keep thinking why not learn what coil you can use with the battery you already have?

Started a little over 2 years ago with a basic Ego and CE4, and favored the mini 360 mAh Ego batteries for a compact stealth PV, looks like a pocket pen ...

Discovered the Ovale Elips, the perfect form factor for me, completely concealed in my hand, but a nice warm vape, and uses the standard Type A atomizer, which lasts indefinitely with a stainless steel wick and occasional dry burning to de-gunk the coil. Also like the eRoll, same atty, and both units have a PCC to compensate for limited battery life ...

After collecting at least a hundred different flavors from various juice vendors, settled on Halo SubZero and Malibu, that's all I buy anymore ...

Still looking for a "better" Elips, but I think I'll have to wait for the next generation of battery technology ...

With the exception of a few juice flavors that didn't work out and my ego starter kit, every purchase I've made gets used daily. No need to regress or progress from my happy place. The KISS principle.
A titanium Provari is on my mind though, just because the 2.5 tends to pull my pants down when I put it in my back pocket while I'm working. :D

    Predictable simplicity.

    Good luck all. :)

Happy with what I have. Not caught up in the atty or mod race war. A new sucker born every minute.

I wouldn't call them suckers. Taste is so subjective, you can't take someones word for what will be best for you. Experimenting is the only way. I find different setups work for different situations. My out and about is different from my home rig. Wouldn't know which works best for what if we didn't try different things. I still use a mech with an old school 510 drip atty at home. Love the flavor, but can't drip and drive.

Some vape to impress, and that's cool too. Watched some vids on youtube last night of tricksters making tornadoes. Whatever floats your boat, as long as you're not smoking cigs, all good. Saving your life doesn't preclude having fun with it too.

There are a lot of hobbyists that look for the latest and greatest, and, talk about it. But, people come out of the woodwork occasionally and just mention how they are lowering their nic and staying off cigs. I think their are many of those in the background.

I don't chase the latest shinyitis anymore. I am cleaning some of my gear out to PIF again and looking for quality. I do like a good flavor.

Studying helps to avoid poor buying.

$9.26 Apollo Styled 18650 Mechanical Mod - aluminum / black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

$5.76 A6 Mini Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

    $3.43 Pre-Coiled Welded Wires w/ Wicks - NR-R-NR (50-Pack) 50-pack - 32 AWG / 1.5ohm / 4-wick at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Thats about 20 total. Add battery and charger of choice and one is set for about 2 years.

Anyone who spends more then that is some level of stupid. We all get to pick our level but we are wasting money over what we need to.

Also we don't know what each others incomes are.

Retired and made poor lifestyle choices and now "broke"??

Retired and driving a RV around the country??

Making 50K and got six kids??

Making 50K and living with your parents??

When people that cry an Ego is expensive I wonder how they bought smokes. Robbing gas stations??

Personally I live in a World where a pickup trucks costs 45K and my property taxes are thousands of dollars a year. A hundred dollar mod or 30 dollar tank here and again ain't exactly big money.

Yeah I haven't moved backwards, but I like where I'm at and am staying right here. I'm not too into temp control. Any higher wattages or drippers I'm just going to burn through more juice. I still buy lots of new flavor juices though. I'm not seeking for an adv or anything, I just love trying new juice!

I started with a V2 kit and moved to Volt Spinners. Now I'm using an iStick and Nautilus Mini. I'm very happy with that set up! I've read all about rda, rta, mech mods, bottom feeder mods, etc... I just can bring myself start dripping. I kinda laugh when some drippers say it's a hassle to refill tanks. Well it seems to me that it would be a hassle to rebuild coils and an even bigger hassle to constantly having to drip juice on your atty. But to each his own. I delved into the sub ohm tanks with a Kanger Nano and it was just too hot of a vape for me.

As Dan put it, I'm happy with what I have and I really love trying new juices. I do have a few mainstays in my juicebar, but I love trying new vendors and finding new flavors. I have about 20 bottles in my steeping cabinet now. I also have about 10 bottles or so of DIY juices. I've grown to love DIY more and more as I've gotten better at figuring out how to clone some of the better juices I've tried over the years.

I may upgrade somewhere down the line when something better shows up that doesn't involve dripping, however, right now though my monthly vaping budget goes to buying new brands and flavors of juices and replacement attys.

    To each his own!

I'm a kanger subtank guy personally. The good thing for me is that I only need about 16 watts to get a great flavorful vape. So I'm getting the benefits of a subtank without scorching through juice at huge wattages. It's all whatever makes you happy!

I think everyone (excepting collectors, hobbyists, and hoarders), will go through an arc of discovery during the first 3-6 months. How big an arc depends on how much money and free time you have. Eventually we figure out that all this stuff works the same, learn how to make what we have work, then settle on a kit that we like and are comfortable with.

    Some great replies. Thanks.

I like my drippers and rta toppers but i hit such an easy groove with disposable dual coils and the aero or genitank never cause a single problem so ive gotten so used to the predictable simplicity.

Coils last a week and i get them for just over a buck from FT. combine that with Diy juice and it feels like i spend next to nothing on vaping and no time maintaining gear.

Its simply amazing how far gear and power has come in just 2 years. Seems like it can be easy and satisfying for any experience level now. That hasnt always been the case. Good stuff

Nothin predictable or simple re mystery china wire and winds. Tho gotta give credit to Kanger on the QC for the OCC. So yeah things are changin. Make your own @bob Chili…then you'll know predictable (and simple if you develop a good approach). Would be my advice to new vapers landin on this thread. But to all, good luck. :)
