Is my Darwin reading the ohm's wrong?

Try just barely tightening it. Something happens after a few days to some of them and I think it's from tightening them to tight. I know my Infinity won't work with some of them after a few days if I tighten them at all. I also think it has something to do with the conductivity of the juice lately. I have one I'm going to dissect soon to have a look.

About the last 10 fusions I have put on have all read 3.5-3.7 ohms...dialing in at about 7 watts I get 5.2 volts...am I getting bum ones or is my darwin broke?

Are you happy with them when vaping? That is the sole purpose of the Darwin e.g setting the watts to what you want regardless of Ohms. The device will then ensure you get 7 watts. On a VV device you have to set the voltage for the sweet spot. I do not use the Fusions so I am unsure of what they are rated at.

PS: Someone who invests in a $200+ device should have acquired a MM by now IMHO.

I believe what's happening is the isolator in the Fusions and V2s get squashed or flattened from tightening and heat that the neg and positive currents come close enough to each other that the conductivity of the juice carries enough current to lower the resistance. I know when it happens to me if I just leave the Fusion loose it will work. But then it's flopping loose. I have also rasied the center post but it returns to that position fast. It also works in my Buzz but it gets hot. That's why when they aren't attached to a PV the resistance checks out good. If you check the resistance when they're new and again when this happens you'll see it changes.
I just keep them and use them on my Buzz when they get like that. They still vape good and are still my favorite cartomizer in the land.

Actually, I have read threads in this forum and over at VF about erroneous resistance readings on the ProVari. All DVMs seem to have an error margin and they all seem to be different. I've personally never seen any digital electrical device without some kind of quirk.

... back in the day of analog meters you could zero out the resistance of the leads, with digital meters you just subtract the resistance from the result. Some expensive digital meter can be zeroed as well. For what we do, subtracting the leads resistance is good enough.

"You get what you pay for" holds true in the world of multi-meters, too... invest in a Fluke meter, and you won't see any quirks : )

True story...

I was just sayin' that from what I've read from ProVari owners the Ω readings aren't always accurate on those things. Could be the same on the Darwin.

Sorry, off topic, but I just got my fluke yesterday! I never thought I would get one since they are 300 new but someone posted a classified ad wanting to trade their fluke for supplies and he took my trade offer. Pretty excited to have the best of the best. To the OP if you wanna send me your cartos I can check the resistance on them.;) obviously jk.

I don't know why it took me this long to go back to your OP and check the math but.... 3.7Ω at 5.2V = 7.3 watts so I guess the darwin is pretty close and the Fusion is at least 3.7Ω. Hmmm..... I'm gonna start checking mine, although I haven't had one perform weakly yet.

let me know what you find on yours...i just got 10 more fusions 5 from 2 different people and one set clocked in at 3.7 and the other at 3.9...
