Okay this makes sense..

And yes.. the cold in cold cranking amps, specifically addresses temperature since that affects, in winter, how much more it takes to turn your engine due to sluggish cold oil and the chemical reaction in the battery is also more sluggish (less reactive) in cold weather.. CCA means more to someone in Alaska than someone in Florida.
Absolutely right!

The "ASE certified mechanic" misunderstood "18650s can jumpstart" a motorcycle and interpreted it as "18650s can replace the battery".

A quick google search will show 18650 jump start battery packs as well as tons of videos showing them in action.
Ive actually seen one work on my car.

A few good 18650s in series can absutely jumpstart a motorcycle.

Where is the hood latch on a motorcycle?

Heat destroys more batteries than cold.

I could afford a Tesla if i could just stop buying every Mech i see..

Given you need to keep recharging batteries all the time as it is, make believe the Tesla is just a 1,200 bay charger. There, a justification for vaping.

Oh, and if you have a Tesla supercharger nearby, it's not only fast, but you don't even have to pay for the electricity. And it's balanced charging to boot!

There is a application you can download if your like me and would rather use a calculator. You will plug in your facts. Ohms of wire and wattage your vaping and it will tell you Exactly how many amps your batteries need to be. Don't push your batteries. This sounded to me like you could have had a short or wires touching at some point this is why you got the short reading. It's your devices protection. This is why I don't use mechanical mods. I've shorted on my mechanical mod before and it scared the daylights out of me! It heated so fast all I could do is pull my batteries before they over heated. I tossed them after. Check out the app it's called simply ohms. Happy vaping!

Please, please, people, unless you understand amps, resistance, and your battery's capacity, don't jump into mech mods.

We had a guy who came every month to exterminate our home (we live in the south and I can't stand those freaking huge flying roaches!). He was trying to quit smoking, so I suggested he try vaping. One month later, he came to service our home, and was so proud to show me that he was vaping!

To my horror, he had a set up that a "friend" did for him. It was a mech mod with a drip topper, and a coil the "friend" built. He had no idea what ohms it was, what kind of battery was in it, nor what nic level of juice he had. I had some extra eliquid I gave him to try different flavors - it was an appropriate nic level for someone who recently quit a pack a day - I think 12 mgs. He made a big show out of changing the cotton for a new flavor that this "friend" showed him. But he had no idea how to do it. He was trying to shove a wad of cotton through a coil. OMG. I showed him how to twist, taper, and snip the cotton to thread it through the coil.

He took a hit off of it with the sweet tarts flavor I had, and was light headed for several minutes. Right then, I knew his coil was sub ohm.

Mech mods and sub ohms are not for novices that have no idea what they're doing!

I told him to put that crap away before he killed himself. I dug an old Vamo out of the cabinet, a Kanger Protank 2, some spare coils, a bunch of 12-18 mg of eliquid flavors that I had moved on from, and 2 older low amp batteries that were safe for the Vamo. Plus, a battery case for them with the warning about loose batteries and the fire hazard.

I did my best to try explain coil resistance, amps, battery load, and the difference between mech mods and regulated box mods. But it was like trying to teach Latin to my dog. :(

I saw him the next month and he was happily vaping away on that FastTech Vamo II. He left the company after that, and I never saw him again.

I hope he didn't go back to smoking. But in any event, I did my best to stop him from blowing himself up with that contraption. His friend probably meant well, but that's how people end up in the news with an exploding ecigarette.

The question is, can you vape using the other car?

Nice save. Literally. Talk about an accident waiting to happen. But I slept in, have barely had one cup of coffee, and you just HAD to bring up those giant flying roaches. Now I'm going to keep looking around and startle every time a piece of paper moves the slightest from a light breeze and I catch it in my peripheral vision.

Boosting a car with a weak battery and actually starting a car using an external 18650 battery pack alone involve very different principles. 650 cold cranking amps on a car battery is pretty much standard. The 18650 multiple battery packs just supply enough additional power to assist a weak auto battery in cranking a car.

Back on topic...
The OP would be wise to buy a pair of 20A or greater 18650's for a dual battery mod.

Or a new car. I'm so confused at this point.

Yup, that's my thought too. Once the battery goes in a car it's time to get a new car.:D
Haha, that's exactly how my wife thinks. Her check engine light came on,she said it's a piece of crap,i need to sell it,it took 5 minutes to fix the problem.Another time her belt started squeeking, well it's a piece of crap, time to get a new one.If she got a new car every time she thinks she needs one,she would be driving something different every few months haha.

Cold cranking amps is exactly that, you never need that much power unless the engine is seized up from the cold... But in that case you'd probably need an engine warmer as well... But when it's warm and you're just jumpstarting a slightly dead battery, I bet you could do it with a single 18650.
