Is steeping always necessary ?

I was wondering if any mix (100% PG, 100% PG, 0% nicotine, no alcohol base) always require steeping.

And also if the "dripping tips" on the bottles let enough air to get in to steep with it (without the cap of course).

Steeping depends on what flavors/recipes you're using. In terms of airing your mixes, it's not necessary unless there's a chemical/alcohol smell to it. Steeping does not need be done with the caps/drip tips off, beyond a few hours (to alleviate the smell).

Yep, what Sed said. I vape fruits, candy, and a few mints and straight menthol. I never steep.

I don't steep.. I just run my bottles in an ultrasonic bath for a few hours then use it the next day.. or that day if I have run out.. and i run out a lot. if it don't make me shiver or barf.. it's done.

I'm glad I'm not the only procrastinator. I have been known to push it to the point that I am out of juice and on the way out the door, and I have to use the dump method of mixing. I measure the nic and flavor, then just dump some PG and VG. Shake it as I'm running to the car and then it's ready.

tobacco flavors and mixes with many flavors do better with steeping. It's just a way to let all the flavor molecules combine for ultimate yumminess. I recently started using a slow cooker at 150 degrees for 2-4 hours.

If a recipe has 3 flavors in it I age for a week, you can do a quick aging process by putting the bottle in a very very hot cup of water for 20-30 minutes and shaking vigorously afterwards. Four flavors 1.5-2 weeks aging. Five flavors 2.5-3 weeks aging. You get the idea. But in each case you can knock off a week by using the hot water bath. This is just how I do it and it's worked for me. You can taste them anytime during the aging process and be sure to shake the bottles on a regular basis to ensure proper mixing.

Any juice with 1-2 flavors is pretty good right after it's made with a good shake. I thought I'd better add that . None of the bottles I'm mentioning are requiring any airing out. Should you need to do that you would leave the cap off for 24-48 hours max or you'll lose flavor. There are people who age their juices for longer but this is my method and it's worked for me. I figure it's a good place to start.

steeping is something thats just as trial and error as making recipes. some need it some dont... but if you are going to steep the caps need to be on

If it tastes good right away, a rest isn't necessary. If it sucks, a rest may be necessary. It could very well suck no matter how long it rests.

Long answer is, steeping is always a sealed bottle and it is something to try if the juice isn't great immediately after mixing

All rules of thumb for steeping only work for a small subset of mixers. I have very few recipes that need to steep and those tiny few get Seed Steeped. I only have 1 recipe that gets better with airing-out. I know this because I've experimented with my mixes. I have no clue if it what works for me works for you, Tom, nor Harry.

There has got to be the beginning of a good redneck vaping joke here...except, some of my redneck friends car's don't have hubcaps...

I use a vibrator back massager to mix my juices let them steep for a few hours and good to go. Works better than shaking it. Some juices have to steep for at least a week before the flavors kick in regardless of what you try.. I steep ry4 for months at a time I make a lot of it -- I currently am out of it and have to start the process all over I had some 6 month RY4 that would make your head spin if you like RY4.

Oh...I forgot. Recently, I have been forgoing the warm water bath for rice. The rice stays hotter for a longer time period. At one minute in the microwave, the rice reaches 120 degrees. Btw, I use uncooked rice. If your juice isn't health conscious, brown and white rice work equally well.
