TC Pointless? To some, yes it may be, but to others, no it is not. There are thousands of different setups, if everyone was the same, there would be only one setup. I have a Hana, a Pico, and a Wraith, all using SS coils running in TC. But I also have other mods running VW, and my out and about all day setup is VV (no VW or TC), so I use them all and none of them are pointless. Different strokes for different folks. :) JMHO

The kid at my local shop had to have a TC mod..So he spent $200 on a Reuleaux DNA 200..I saw him again a week later thinking he bricked his mod using Escibe trying to update it..
He got somebody else to upgrade it for him then complained he didn't like TC and went back to power mode..I made another visit to the shop and noticed he was vaping a RX200..told me his DNA mod just quit working altogether, and chasing TC was a waste of $200..he was ......!

I was not super impressed with my 2 x smy sdna75 mods in tc mode even after fiddling with them for some time in escribe to adjust the curves and/or tcr values and I just use them in VW mode when I use them now. my rx200s, rx2/3, picos and hana modz one mods (dna40) do a decent job of TC without having to fiddle with a program. dna mods are def not for new tc vapers like me, or your friend I assume.

about half my daily drivers are in VW mode (love the new jt/eleaf preheat firmware) due to me having a couple packs of pre-made kanthal/clapton coils and hundreds of feet of kanthal spools in addition to my ss316l spools. When those prebuilt coils and kanthal coils are finally gone I will replace them all with ss316l or ss430 but I will likely still run some of my tanks with super low ohm twisted builds (0.1 - 0.3) in vw mode with preheat and run the simpler higher ohm (0.3+) in TC mode. I plan to generally run my rta in vw mode and my drippers in tc mode going forward depending on the ohms of the builds I throw in them.

So, because some kid at your local shop can't use a software package and decided they hated TC and it's a waste, therefore, based on this thread, pointless? smh

I don't use or need TC myself..
OP was asking if TC was pointless, not me...I think it's a sales gimmick myself..but opinions vary.. I can live with that...

I often wonder if it started as a gimic. I know people genuinely like TC but I can't find a TC setup I like more than VW.

I don't think TC was invented as a "Gimmick". Because it is Very Beneficial to some People. That, and there Won't be an e-Cigarette that obtains PMTA Approval that doesn't have some form of TC in it.

Albeit, a Non-User Adjustable version.

Solid observation right there.

Yeah... And could you Imagine if you held a Design Patent for some form of TC?

If you did, you might receive a visit or two from some BT Lawyer's bearing Halliburton's filled with Stacks and Stacks (and Stacks) of Federal Reserve Notes.

Building TC in a closed system should be a snap. You're always going to have the same wire to heat, the same liquid to vaporize, and the same change in resistance change to regulate to. Basically one profile burned onto one chip with nothing for the end user to adjust. I guess for the "high end crowd" you could provide some adjustment between a cool, warm, or hot vape, with resistance/temp caps at each. Get to charge extra for that, too.

"Easy to use! Nothing for the User to Adjust." will be the Marketing slant OEM's will say.

"Tamperproof. Nothing the User Can to Adjust" will be the Wording Used in the PMTA's.

No... I Don't believe that will be Correct.

Maybe BT can get there stuff approved BUT there's no way in :censored: the other %99 are going to get approved. I don't consider BT's cigalikes apart of vaping. They make it taste horrible, not last long and expensive so smokers just go back to smoking.
