Is the FDA going to ban the use of e-cigs and liquid-if we already have them?

First of all this is crazy and scary at the same time. I was wondering if they would be able to ban the use of e-cigs and possession of e-liquid if we already had the stuff when it was legal. Or are they only going to be able to ban the future sale and importation of e-cigs and liquid? I'm just thinking about being outside a bar or club and being arrested for e-smoking. Will this be able to happen?

God am I breaking the law right now as we speak? This is seriously scary stuff, perhaps I'm getting carried away with myself, but I've stocked up quite a bit because of this ban and I'm just worried I'm going to be doing something illegal now, or in the future. Please help with my paranoia and offer some advice if you can.

Dude, the feds aren't going to come take your 15 atomizers and 20 bottles o juice from you. What you do in your own home is your choice. If it becomes illegal to sell, import and posses these items, well I just wouldn't be doing it in public.

I don't smoke pot, hate it, and it's illegal. Always has been. Do you know how many people DO in the privacy of their own homes?

LOL

well, there will be so many people thatre a doing it in public if there is a ban. Most people will have no idea it is banned. None of my friends that e-smoke have even heard of this ban. They would have to give us some period of time after they declared the ban before it is illegal to use. If not they'd have to arrest the majority of e-smokers including the thousands of people who legally just bought it at the mall kiosk.

Okay from my one semester of College "Intro to Law" knowledge The Feds only have mandate only inter-state commerce, crime, etc so I think you are pretty safe from having your home raided. Also the FDA's mandate really only covers the sale and advertising of products. An example would be, you cannot buy (without a prescription) an ultrasound machine as it is a medical device and restricted, however if you were to build your own so long as you don't sell it there is not much they can do about it.

But lets be realistic about this, assuming they could arrest you for it unless the police think it's an illegal narcotic or you really piss off a, smart, bad cop (who might look it up) 99.99% of cops aren't going to know (or care) about the legal status of unclassified drugs (the ones that do probably are e-smokers themselves).

with that said a little common sense goes a long way. hypodermic needles and small unlabelled bottles of liquid probably aren't going to be your best friends during a routine traffic stop. 8-o

If they keep banning things were going to have multi-wars on ??????? Spokan Washington has banned the good dishwasher soaps, so everyone is going across the state line to get the good soap. I will just order parts from china and make my own juice.

Our goverment has a lot more important things to worry about instead of e-cig and dishwasher soap. they can't control drug, illigal immigrents, crime, etc. and now they want to create more crime.

Let me guess - the soap's not green enough?

Our congressmen are more worried about pithy issues, and don't pay attention to the real ones..... Fix the economy and leave PV's alone.

What on earth for?

It's much more widespread then you might think:

Spokane County became the launch pad last July for the nation's strictest ban on dishwasher detergent made with phosphates, a measure aimed at reducing water pollution. The ban will be expanded statewide in July 2010, the same time similar laws take effect in several other states.
It is to help with fish populations and well-water quality IIRC.

I just went last week over to Idaho to buy my dishwasher detergent. They banned it because of the phosphates so now they only sell crappy non-phosphate containing detergent that doesn't do anything.
I don't understand why. Is there really that much of a difference that you can justify breaking the law by trekking across state lines to get a version of something you already have, except that it pollutes the water supply and poisons the environment?

It's not that I don't think government resistance is valuable, it's just that I don't understand the manner in which you choose to do it, your approach seems malicious.

me persoanlly on the whole banning idea should not even be compared to anything currently illegal in any means. if the FDA or the FTC Ban Hammer comes down then maybe we has a whole of PV'ers could Class action the governement for infrenging our right to experssion not sure thier not a legalesse person. some how i think the government is slowly tring to over step its current role to incress its control over the mundane people who cant do anything sooner or later will have a Socialest repluic or something.

True, the FDA can't even keep our foods safe...peanut butter?
Approx. 9000 deaths per year with food poisoning.
