I became concerned when I read this about the Vamo: Please be sure to look at proper instructions and handling for Li-ion batteries before handling. This unit may allow you to discharge the battery below it's cutoff rating. Do not discharge the battery to less than 3.2V - please recharge before running the battery this low. Discharging the battery below this rate can be dangerous.
Is there a place I can go to learn about Vamo/battery safety?

Basic to Advanced Battery Information from Battery University

Everything you need to know about batteries (well, the basics)

and refer to http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vamo/359600-vamo-vv-vw-v2-user-manual-download.html for the manual for the v2.

The warning is more or less a legal catchall for defective devices, as with any electronic device, once and a while there will be a lemon. My Vamo stops using my battery at 3.4ish volts, but I've read that some people's Vamos stop firing at 3.6v. As for the cutoff of 3.2V, anything lower may cause chemical instability within the cell and a sharp decrease in lifespan for the battery. The Vamo is equipped with a voltage reader to keep you on the up and up about your current battery voltage, so keep an eye on it. It's fairly accurate (only to the 10's place in decimal) so you can rely on it for the most part.

Lithium batteries these days are safer, not completely safe regardless of what device it's attached to.

Both of my vamos cut of at 3.2V, not less, with my AW no problem, they stay still with no issues, with my efest with low resistance(bellow 3 ohms) they shut down the PV when they reach 3.6/3.5V. I had a mini lava v1 first that had the issue of running the batteries to 2.7V and that is dangerous. I see no issues with both of my vamos, but I see issues with the mini Lava v1 or the efest batteries.

Thank u both for the info! If I did have a lemon, I probably wouldn't realize it until something bad happened! I will read the information-thanks. I was thinking maybe I should take the batteries out of the Vamo when not in use-just to be on the safe side. And I have been paranoid that I might accidentally use it below 3.2, so it will help to know more about my Vamo than the little (or no) information that came with it when I bought it.
You guys are the greatest, thanks again for the help!

Yeah, my efest 18350s shut off around 3.6 and my Panasanics 18650's shut off around 3.2 I believe. Just check now and then but holding negative button for the volts you have left every so often. I need to get me some AW batteries, I hear they are the top of the line as far as the charge they hold and the life of the battery.

just a side note: Li batteries can be discharged down to 2.5 volts. to help them last longer and work better most mods cut off above 3v.

this warning is just generic spiel so you cant blame them if you do something stupid and blow your face off. i think it would take a 1 in a million defect to ever get a mass produced mod thats not safe anymore.

The truth is that in my mecanical caravela, with my old blue that some say it's now efest 800mah imr here:
thumbnail.asp

By mistake i've discharged them once or two way too much, to 2.7 and 2.6V. I was a newbie in mecs and for me LR can go all the way down bellow 3V for me to notice, old days.. Nothing special happened but, still after one year they started to feel weak in their power, and i think it's normal after so much use and abuse.

I must say that, in electronic mods, i felt that the mini drunk lava didn't gave power to the atty bellow 3.3V but it would carry on till 2.7V. The Vamo on that issue is much more like the good minis I've used or the eGos on a good new condition, that only feel weak in the last... 2 to 4 puffs and then is't off. LoV warning and it's time to charge.

Im my opinion, bats like efest that go weak from the 3.5/3.4V bellow, can be great to mecs, since you wont run the risk of over discharge them, but i must say that in little bats such as 18350, Aw is the way to go for mods like Vamo or Provari or SVD or... anything else that pushes too much discharge rate from the bat. :)

I've read somewhere in this Vamo sub forum that, one user got is vamo to discharge batteries while standing still like for ex. overnight, but in my case i rarelly turn off my vamo except when i put it on my pocket and that doesn't happen. And if something happens you have the ventilation on the bottom cap so... i see no problem there.
