Is there a cheaper version somewhere of the SafeCig battery? Or another brand of eCig like the SafeCig?

I started eCigs (SafeCig) about 6 months ago and absolutely love them. To me eCigs compared to real cigs are like expensive beer compared to rotgut beer.

A couple of months ago, I got tired of recharging SafeCig batteries multiple times a day and got a Joye eGO. Well, the eGO has a tremendous battery life (generally only have to switch to recharge once a day), but here's the thing: the eGO is just a little 'too' smooth and doesn't have the great mouth and throat-hit the SafeCig does. I think it may have something to do with how the SafeCig has the (what I call) heating filament that goes all the way up through the cartridge filler instead of just poking into the filler at the bottom the way the eGo does.

So, I generally have been switching back and forth between the two during a day. The other problem with the SafeCig is that the batteries are 30 bucks apiece and only last 2 - 3 months tops. So the question is - are there any batteries out there usable for the SafeCig that are significantly cheaper than the 'brand' SafeCig batteries? If not, could anyone recommend another brand of eCIG that offers the great throat-hit experience of the SafeCig, but has longer lasting and less expensive batteries? The only other brand I've tried was BluCig and compared to either the Safe Cig or the Joye, the BluCigs are terrible. Thanks.

Well it's due to the current technology of batteries that you can't get a cig-sized one that lasts more than an hour or two. You might try your eGo with cartomizers, though. A cartomizer is like a cart with a built in atomizer so you get a lot more flavor and a lot more use out of one cartomizer than you do out of the cartridge that comes standard with the eGo.

And as far as I know, the reason safecig can charge so much for their horrid battery is because you can't get a compatible one.

IMO, if I were you I'd give the cartomizers a try before paying $30 for a new battery that's only good for a couple of months. You can get them a bunch of different places either prefilled or empty (fill with your own juice):
510 Cartomizers | 510 Cartridge Pack | Cartomizer 510 - Electronic Cigarette Refill Cartridges

Plus, there are all kinds of other ways to get better performance from your eGo if you don't like the cartomizers too... drip tips, clearomizers, even juice feed systems.

I think Rosa gave you good advice. After trying those suggestions, if you still want more throat hit and cheaper batteries, then you need to move up to a good 5 volt or variable volt PV. The GLV2 5 volt version (Great Lakes Vapor) uses batteries that are about $3.50 each and they are not proprietary so you can buy them at battery stores, etc. Plus they have a recharge life of about 2000 times whereas your Safecig has a recharge life of about 200 times. More power gives you much better throat hit and consistency. There are a number of good variable volt PV's that give you even more flexibility.

Wow, thanks a lot for the tips, folks. I really like Rosa's cartomizer suggestion. This sounds like a good thing to try. I've only had the Joye about 6 weeks now and have been refilling the open-ended cartridges that stick onto the atomizer. I didn't know what a 'cartomizer' was.

So, let me get this straight -- the cartomizers for the 510/Joye eGo simply screw on where my current atomizer screws on? And the cartomizers are easy to fill/refill?

SafeCig sells only pre-filled screw-on cartridges that contain atomizer, filling and the juice. To refill them, you have to pop off the white tip with a knife blade. This isn't particularly easy, but once you do, you can refill a single cartridge for about 3 - 4 days until it just starts putting off a nasty taste. Then -- it's done.

Thanks again. About to hit those links you sent, Rosa, and do some cartomizer shopping. BTW, I've been getting my juice from eJuice.com, but they're really low in stock. Based on some of the things I've read on this forum, this is very concerning...I hope they're able to get steady shipments.

Rick.

I was having the same problems with a NJoy when I started (I believe they are very similar to SafeCigs). I just checked one of the cartomizers that came with the NJoy and got a reading of 2.9 ohm on my multimeter.
I purchased a RiVa kit, which is like the eGo, from Liberty Flights for around $30 and haven't been happier (use coupon code ecf for 20% discount). The atomizers they supplied with their kit run at ~2.3 ohm. A lot hotter. They provide a great amount of vapor and throat hit. Prior to that I purchased a regular 510 set at Vapormaxx and their atomizers tested at ~3.4 ohm. Cool vapor with little throat hit with my RiVa battery. If you have access to a multimeter check what the resistance (ohms) of the atomizers you're using with the Ego. Liberty Flights carries a Joye eGo XL cartomizer. You could use a regular 510 carto but it won't stick out much past the cone.

NOTE: Do NOT use a low resistance atomizer (below 2.2 ohm)with a regular Joye 510 battery. You will kill it.

I was thinking about trying a cart with my RiVa. Do you use the cone with it? How far does it sick out?

yes to the cone, it sticks out about the same as a regular cartridge, it doesn't look out of place or anything. For me besides the better flavor I don't seem to have the problem of sucking up juice when I over fill my regular cartridges either, that is a big + for me.

Got the cartomizers yesterday -- yes, they're much better than the open tube cartridges. However -- ha -- now I have a friend who went for the tank atomizer and cartridges, so I just ordered one of the tank attys and some cartridges. Thank goodness I'm still getting cheap liquid, because I've put out some bucks on accessories lately. :-o Anybody have any idea how long one of these tank atomizers will last? Thanks.
