Is there a market for bespoke?

Is there maybe a viable market for a true bespoke type of mechanical? I'm talking about having a single artist or maybe a small team, who offer a series of materials and can suggest design considerations, but the customer makes the decisions...

So, if a customer wanted a bottom side button 18650 made out of a raindrop pattern mokume gane of silver and copper, with integral airflow control, and the option of ego cone threading, the artist could work on helping settle particulars, and then go about making the customers mod. Then if the next customer wanted, say engraved steel with a multicolor case hardening, and English walnut trim, with a bottom button and built in/hybrid genesis top, this customer also gets exactly what he or she is after.

I'm certainly not of a sufficient skill to do that sort of thing myself, but I would love to see someone making mods on that level. I'd actually be a bit surprised if such a thing weren't being done already...

I know a guy that while not specialized into e-cigs, could build anything you want including some basic electronics.. he'd charge you around €1000 for his handywork though.

you need to check the modders forums. many skilled craftsmen making custom products with.

as for a shop? i doubt it would be economically feasible to do a one off once in a while. lots of setup cost and waste setting up a new design all the time.
