Two weeks ago I went out to see a friends band play at a bar. Several of my friends were there. A few of them had e-cigs, which surprised me. But they were all the disposable kind bought from a gas station or smoke shop. They bought them specifically for the bar that night and even then were stepping outside a few times to have an analog. In fact I hardly saw any of them actually vape on the things and I don't blame them. They're not enough to satisfy a smoker.
This lead me to wonder what the point is. I've been to several smoke shops and gas stations around town and never have I seen a 510 or an eGo kit being sold. Why not? Last I looked at Alibaba none of these 510 or eGo kits were that much more expensive then this cheaper crap. So why are all the brick and mortar stores peddling these garbage e-cigs that obviously don't have as good of a success rate? Even smoke shops where you'd think they'd be informed are trying to sell you garbage.
In one situation I walked into a local smoke shop and asked the guy there if he sold 510 atty's and he had no clue what I was talking about. He whipped out some Smoking Everywhere knockoff and I was like "No, I'm looking for the good stuff." He replied "This is originally a $500 model." To which I replied "Don't BS me, I've seen that model sold in bulk on Alibaba for $15 bucks a kit. I'm looking for the good stuff, the 510 stuff."
I don't know about the rest of you guys but my girlfriend and I spend a ton of money each month on vaping. Just as much or more than I did as a smoker. So you think these stores would get a clue and realize there is money to be made selling, kits, mods, parts, juice and accessories.
I haven't done any statistics but it seems to me that the 510 system is THE standard to which all others are compared. So why don't all the other manufacturers just stop manufacturing all the other models and focus their efforts on the 510 system? There is enough variety and evolution in the 510 system alone to satisfy any smoker or vaper.
It just seems to me that standardizing on one system would be better for everyone. It would be less confusing to new vapors, it would force misinformed local vendors into selling good products or at least products that are compatible with good products and it give manufacturers a standard to work off of and evolve.
