Hello everyone, been creeping the forum for a while and finally decided to create an account!

I've been vaping for about 3-4 months, started with a genetic ego battery and ce4, moved up to a ego twist and pt2 mini, I'm now rocking a pt3 and vtr was smoking a bit on weekends but with my latest setup I've been analog free for a month! :)

I just purchased some kanthal, silica and a aerotank base and started rebuilding my own coils for the pt3. With some trial and error I think I've finally built something decent... But I've already got the itch to upgrade.. New addiction Lol..

Im looking for something a bit easier and wondering if an aspire nautilus mini would meet my needs or if I should just man up and go with an rba that would be easier (maybe?) To build on compared to dual coils on the protanks? Any advice would be appreciated!

Personally, I don't see the point of switching over to a Nautilus if you currently enjoy your rebuilt coils on your PT3. If you were going to make the switch, a Kayfun or Orchid (I've had my eye on these for a while *_*) would be a logical step. Just make sure you pick up an ohm reader along the way.

Edit: Those RBA's are very easy to rebuild and it's awesome being able to customize your vape. However, since you're on a VTR I believe the lowest you can go is 0.8Ω which should be plenty.

Thanks for the advice! My biggest gripe with the pt stock coils is the flooding! With the reviews I've seen for the nautilus I was thinking maybe it would compare to a rebuilt pt with adjustable airflow but I'm definitely leaning toward an rba. I think I've just got to find one that will fit on the vtr without the need of a dremel lol. And the vtr reads ohms, is there any need for an ohm reader?

What you have is very easy. Just occasionally pull the wicking from your coils, dry burn any residue from them, rinse, dry, repack with fresh wicking and vape. Coils can last a long time this way. If you just don't like constantly dripping, then that's another issue entirely. What Cullin suggests rings true in this regard, but you could add the Fogger to that list. Many people really enjoy it.

Also, welcome to the forums! :D

Add my vote to the kayfun crowd. I would suggest spending your money on a decent clone instead of the Nautilus mini. The Nautilus with the BVC is no slouch, but it does not compare to an rba/rta in my opinion. I have not yet replaced a coil out of necessity on any of my kayfuns. I was only getting about 4 days from the BVC and definitely not the flavor I was expecting.

Once you're started rebuilding your own coils, might as well get a proper rebuildable where you screw down those wires and not depend on a rubber grommet to press on the wire for electrical contact: plus you eliminate the question of toxicity from hot wire on rubber grommet.

Would be cheaper and easier to get a simple rda first; easy to practice with an rda first where you can just pop the cap off and fiddle with the coil without having to deal with a full tank of juice.

Thanks guys! I think I'll be going with an rba, I figured that was the rout to go :) kayfun seems to be highly recommended but I don't think it'll fit on the vtr. Maybe time to look at selling the vtr and moving to something less restrictive :)

Edit: off topic.. Is there a thank you or +rep option on the forum?

You didnt get the extension thingy? with your VTR? so your 510 thread will stick out past the round guard? Mine has one, it will work with this.

Try cotton rewick; you don't have to recoil to do it like you do with silica.

You sound like you are a good candidate for rebuilding. I would pick up a $40 MVP2 and a good Kayfun clone. EHPro, Hcigar and the Black Edition are solid clones available at many vendors.

The deck on the Kayfun is easy to build on. I am an old lady with bad eyes and bad hands, I use strong reading glasses and a coil jig and I have been building my coils for the last 8 months. Takes a little practice but it is cheap, easy, and you get great flavor from your juices. Much easier than rebuilding protank heads.

Yeah I got the extension, one of the reasons I went with the vtr was because it's compact and looks great with a tank that fits. I'm just thinking if I need to go with the extension I might as well go with a mod that will be equally bulky but perform better :p again.. I'm addicted to upgrading my gear and just looking for an excuse haha
