I have virtually seen the progression of the vaping industry since 2009. We have more new tanks & mods coming into the market in the last 12 months than the previous 6 yrs. Some so call branded products that are put out are nothing more that just a facelift but selling at a ridiculous price. Companies buy a US$30+ chipset and putting into a case and sells at around US$200. Pay some so called reviewers and tell us how innovative and fantastic the product is.

I have bought 2 tanks (Squape X & Tilemahos V2 plus with springomizer) and a mod (Sigelei 213W) in the last one month. Does the so call improvements in my new acquisitions justify the asking price or are they any better than what I already have, the answer is a definite no. I get better flavour from my Dome, Rose V2 & Squape Rs with bottom deck. The only thing positive on the Squape X is airflow and ease of use but I think I can afford the extra 1 or 2 minutes to perform the same task on my Rs. I love the unique idea of the springomizer but is the flavour any better, no. Do I regret buying the tank? No. It is a good addition to my collection. Would I use it everyday? Definitely no. Getting spares for gg products is next to impossible. What really frustrate me is the modders's attitude towards his customers. The Sig is the only buy that I am happy with. I think the option to set your own preheat will go a long way to satisfy a lot of us. My cheapest purchase of the three is the only one I am happy with.

I vape to live. I'm price sensitive. Some people live to vape. May be they want expensive stuff that's more exclusive. Regulated mods have improved a lot and the pricing is amazing to me. It appears tanks are getting more refined and user friendly but I use rda's exclusively so no experience with them. I found the SV rda clone last year and don't use anything else. I think I could vape for the rest of my days on a vtc mini or pico.

My understanding is the Federal Drug Administration has decreed that in August we Americans can't have any new products. Who is going to brag about their new mod or atomizer if that happens? Will the US youtube reviewers show illegal products in their videos? There is a documentary coming soon called A Billion Lives. May be they should call it A Billion Criminals.

Depends on how you look at it.
Underlying principles.

A car is meant for getting you from A to B. Can do so riding a Tin Lizzy or the latest Ferrari.

A cellphone is meant for communication between A and B. Can do so with a brick-sized Nokia from the early eighties or the latest iphone.

A PVD is meant to vaporize a liquid. Can do so with an early ego-T or or the latest subohm mod from whoever.

Progress on all these technologies did come in many many small increments over time. Evolution instead of revolution.

And sure, lots of hype is part n parcel of da bidness - any bidness :)

Shinyitis and gimmickry play their part too.

And always takes two. A seller AND a buyer.

Vapers do swap notes, like on ECF :)
If it turns outto be only hype with no substance - it soon will gather dust on the shelves.

And with the vapovcalypse looming, more vapers will look for sturdy, long-lasting gear. Replaceable batteries. Rebuildable attys. Unless you got and are willing to spend $$$ on stocking up big on the spare coil heads for your personal fave.

Boils down to personal preferences. The level at which you're 'good' with what you have. Decision whether to lend credit to the spiel and clicking - or not clicking - the 'put-in-cart' button is yours.
At least for the next two years...

Years ago I bought a fancy whazoo Provari for $150, at the time it was the best of the best. I could bounce it off floors and it would still work!
Now days, I can buy a $30 Istick, that does TC, VW and more than I'll ever know how to use, and I've bounced it off of gravel and concrete!
Yeah, things have improved greatly!

All we need is a coil to heat, a wick to absorb juice and feed the coil, a tank to hold the liquid to wet the wick, and a chimney to concentrate the vapor and deliver it to a mouthpiece. Past that it's all glint and glamour and various methods of creating variable devices.

I've always said that I could vape by dripping on a hot iron. Not that I want to do that, but a hot surface is all it takes.

I love variable wattage and I'm branching out into TC. Then, there's the ergonomics of mods. I have some with rounded corners and some that are square. I like a rounded corner feel that doesn't press a sharp corner into my palm all day.

What creates a market for new mods is the same thing that sells new cars. We all want something new and we want it to look sleek and luxurious and have new bells and whistles. That, and we want it to feel comfortable in our hands.

My Provari is the longest lasting PV I own. I bought it in 2011. It slips into a pocket and rides around in the cup holder on my lawn tractor. iSTick is another that is good for out of the house carry. My old istick 20W is getting old and the 510 connection is developing worn threads, so I just bought the new iStick TC 40W to replace it.

At home, I tend to grab my Smok Koopor Plus 200W that uses dual 18650's. It feels good in my hand and two batteries will last from morning one day until suppertime the next day at 10W.

Most all the innovations I've experienced over the last three years have accommodated a different style of vaping than existed before 2013. Lung hitting, high wattage and temperature control are just a different branch of the vaping tree. As this style became dominant in the eyes of vendors and newer vapers, demand for effective older styles dropped and they were discontinued.

Many of us who found our sweet spot with those older styles snagged a stockpile as they went out of the spotlight and became very inexpensive. In that way, these newer developments have been very helpful!

Buyers remorse...Huh?

If you like what you have...what "hole" was going to be filled with the new stuff?
What prevents you from selling on whatever you are NOT satisfied with now?

Come here...

If someone could build like a cottonless atomizer then that would be amazing!! No need to recotton and just go straight vaping. Its possible i guess

Ceramic coils. Just purchased a subohm tank with prebuilt ceramic coils, going to test them out. Supposedly lasts 4 x longer than cotton ones.

I've only paid close to $100 for an atty once and that was the KFL V2+. I think the average price of the attys that I own are around the $25 to $30 mark.

Yeah, I have four Provari's. First one I bought in 2012. Liked it so much I bought a Mini, and was gifted another standard size, and gifted a P3. Probably the best mods that I have owned.

I have to admit that I probably haven't used a Provari much in the last year or so, though. Maybe if I had an appropriate tank for them. My vaping preferences have changed to a direct lung hit and sub-ohm coil builds, to which the Provari and 2014 Kayfun Lite Plus no longer can provide me.

Currently I'm using a 2012 Silver Bullet mech with a 2014 Patriot rebuildable drip atomizer and a gifted 2016 Wismec RX200 regulated mod with a 2016 Uwell Crown clearomizer tank. Although its a 200 watt mod, I rarely vape over 30 watts. I use it only in wattage mode, and have no interest in using it's Temp Control mode.

I'm impressed with the Crown tank. Unfortunately I can't try it on a Provari because the only coils available for it are sub-ohm.

Look at a genesis style atty with a ceramic or SS mesh for a wick.
Yeah, I got two of these, also. Two AGA-T2+ I think they were called. Some people like Genesis-style RTA's, but they are not for me. Hated making the ceramic wick (I finally gave up and bought them pre-made), hate that if you turn the tank on its side it will leak, and hate that you have to do the "Genesis Tilt" to get the SS wick to "wick". :nah:

Getting into vaping is the best decision I ever made in my life. What I am trying to say is that there is nothing new that is coming up. I know vaping have come along way from when I first started, back then there were not many vapers and I understand the high prices that Hana 20, Provari and even Zmax charges as there was no quantity and they need to cover their cost and make some profits but the situation now is different, most of the items now are mass produce and there is not much innovation. How many kayfun, taifun and other same style decks with a little changes to the airflow, filling style here and there. Now there are millions of us , not thousands. With the quantity of scales, production cost is cheaper, this savings should be pass on to us to discourage clone buying. I do not believe in buying clones but I now I am seriously thinking about it. I have been buying authentic all the while but with the attitude of certain modders like gg who only wants to sell but getting parts is next to impossible. I could not get parts for my tilemahos so I have no choice but to buy clones hoping that the parts will fit as I did for my Ithaka a few years ago.

As convenient as it is to charge with USB, most of the USB mods have non-replaceable batteries. For longevity you need to be able to pop off a cover and insert new batteries. Yes, some mods that were designed as throwaways can be taken apart and a new battery soldered in, but it's not as easy as it looks to remove the Torx fasteners. Some of my Innokin and Eleaf mods use Torx that appear to be non-symmetric and some appear to be one use fasteners with cuts on the side that might break when loosened. Some of the newer ones use flat pack cell phone style LiPos.

Just in case the FDA wrecks the choices, it's a good idea to have a few mods that are designed with replaceable batteries.

I've been vaping cottonless atty's for years. They are called gennies and they are built with mesh. I've been very happy with them. My wicks last me around 3 months of pretty heavy vaping.

I'm disappointed that innovation will be stifled. We've come a long way, but it's far from perfect yet. I've been waiting for wickless atomizers that use lasers or ultrasound and tanks that never leak. All tanks are still finicky and you really can't be a serious vaper unless you're prepared to tinker with it. I love it but until you can replicate the ease and reliability of cigarettes, the majority of smokers are going to find vaping to be too much trouble.

I'm just returning from a 9 state 3000 miles vape journey. I passed about a million vape shops and stopped at what I could with most being in Florida and NC.

All have new stuff. And old stuff. Some have mostly current generation stuff and some have mostly old school tootle puffer gear. Most have a nice balance between the two.

All the people in all states were wonderful. Some where super fantastic and some just nice but none where even remotely unpleasant. Florida is a real stand out of great shops with Jacksonville and Tampa having large numbers of great shops.

Smoking is crazy cheap all over the South. We all say its not the money but its always a factor. With as cheap as smoking is in Fl,NC,SC and Ga I'm very impressed vaping is so popular.

On new stuff..............

These days its tough to sell me a mod. I have <clears throat> "a few". But I did buy a couple mods. I bought one mod thats smaller and lighter then my old school SX Mini and Provari Radius but uses two 18650's. Battery life is insane PLUS smaller and lighter?? Sign me up.

Tanks and RDA's are my weakness and tons of new ones out with new features. Afew of them followed me home.
