I shy away from eBay for personal reasons, but that's just me. It bothers me that they didn't spell caromizer right, and that they say the coild are replacable in it. I know you CAN, but why would you? They're cheap enough to just buy a new one. The coil life depends on the juice, how much you vape, ETC. You'll see YMMV a lot here, meaning your mileage may vary. Doesn't look like too bad of a deal, but I would keep looking for either a better deal on the same equipment, or spend the same on better equipment.

Cheers. I've Googled that many different places, I didn't even see the mistakes. I don't know what's better or worse at the mo but I'd like an alternative to the Evod to see which is best.

I've just got no clue at all what is good, fair, rubbish. The Ego Twist gets mentioned quite a lot so I looked for that. I noticed my liquid, after a few refills, turned brown in the Evod so I replaced the coil then. No idea what else to do but the liquid is clear again. I liked the idea of the 'mini' bit and adjustable battery a lot with the Tornado Twist.

I'm on a roll now knowing what YMMV means. It's a whole different language on it's own lol.

I'm not sure on the price, but a couple 650 mah eGo batteries are a good investment...:) Best place to check for the deals, vendors and available kits would be in UK Forum, they will know what's around locally to you.

You will need to have 5 posts under your belt to be able to post in there...but you're almost there...:toast:

Re: your Evod, when it begins to taste bad, vapor production falls off, it's time for a change. The old heads can be soaked in vodka to clean, or re-coiled even with a little more effort.

Greetings FBH, welcome to the forum.

Changing the coil isn't really about the e-liquid colour; the coil should be changed when the vapour starts to taste dry and harsh, and when you get less of it. My favourite clearomizer (Davide) uses the same replacement coils as the EVOD (and Pro Tank), and the quality seems to vary a lot. Sometimes I don't get more than a day or two out of a replacement coil.

As Stosh mentioned, some people clean their used up coils, but personally I haven't gotten great results doing that. OTOH building you own coils can work great, you can get much better results than using store-bought replacement heads. It's dirt cheap, and not very difficult.

Thanks for the advice and welcome everyone. I've had a good look at the links and the coupons. Typical lol, I can't find one for what I want to buy but there's some good ones there. Glenn I think my taste buds must be shot because I've been able to use a coil for about a week and a half before I changed it. Unless it's just that the liquid isn't a strong one compared to the B&H. Mind you, I'm sure it's just me being new to it and getting a feel/taste for what is right.

I'd like a go at either cleaning them or making my own but I'm a bit nervous at the mo. Believe me, I can make simple into a complex mess in no time lol. Is there a thread anywhere that could give me instructions on how to do this when I'm ready?

I've decided to go for the Ego Twist as the adjustable voltage is appealing. Again, don't know if others do this? I like my Evod but I think the Ego or some alternative might just give me that edge so that I can cut out the few cigs I still smoke. A better throat hit would be better and a little more vapour would be a bonus. The vapour is one thing I liked about smoking full time.

Greetings FBH; I was leery about getting into coil rebuilding at first, and I've got zero mechanical skills when it comes to things as small as replacement heads, but once I tool the plunge I found it not hard at all to do, and it's totally worthwhile.

Best bet is to start with 32 gauge (.2 mm) Kanthol, which is very easy to work with. The first vid talks about Pro Tank coils; they're identical to EVOD ones. The rebuild guy uses a butane torch on the wire, but a lighter works fine, and pre-burning isn't absolutely necessary (though it does make Kanthol more co-operative): Kanger Protank Bottom Coil Rebuild HD Close Up - YouTube

Using cotton for a wick is easier than silica or ekowool, and the results are great: [vape] Micro Coil and Cotton Protank Evod Head Rebuild - YouTube

Down the road you might want to look at rebuildable atomizers; some of them, like the Kayfun and all its clone variants, are incredibly easy when it comes to coil builds (easier than Pro Tank/Evod coils at least for me), and the vape you will get can be way better than clearomizers. Good luck.

PS: When you build you own coils, you need to test the resistance before using them. A lot of batteries won't fire coils below 1.0 to 1.2 oHms. A digital multi meter, or a dedicated oHms meter, will do this. Battery safety issues come into play once coils get into the sub-one oHm range; be sure to do some research on battery safety.

Hi Glenn and thanks for the help here. This is definitely something that I want to do when I'm established at vaping. Amazing how something that starts off confusing, ends up easier and boy is this a different language to me right now. Thankfully I'm getting the gist of it with you guys here and the info you give. Thanks for the vids, sometimes I learn faster when I can see it happening.

I've STILL not ordered my Ego Twist kit because I've come across so many that vary I don't know which to buy. I gather I need two batteries at least but the rest, I'm not sure of apart from needing more than one mini tank? Is there any thread I could read about what I need to buy to begin with? I don't want to be bothering you with all my queries lol.

FatBoy, hey just a quick heads up why don't you have a look at cloud 9 vaping, they are UK based and stand behind their products 100% if you contact them the bloke to talk to is Kevin.

I live in OZ and have ordered through them before and had dramas with one of my batteries (nothing to do with the vendor) and they sorted me out in about 2 seconds flat. I started out with one of their starter kits and there is no junk in them it's all good quality stuff.

egos die fast i would suggest a mech mod

Yeah not if your just starting out though, as a noob there's more than enough to worry about rather than have to monitor batteries. A mech is great once you get the hang of stuff, sorry bud but what your suggesting is like getting someone to learn how to drive in a Ferrari :)

Start out small and work your way through this journey - don't rush out and spend heaps of dollars on this and that just because it's shiny!

Mate get an ego / ego twist / spinner to start with and some Kanger BCC's some decent juice and go from there. If you decide you want to step it up then look for a bigger battery device voltage / regulated device.

I have been vaping for over three and a half years now - long enough to remember Lipton tea bags and blue foam on 510 batteries with personal charging cases. I have moved on since then, however I think I should know what I'm talking about by now.:p

FatBoy, A purely mechanical mod is a very basic ecig/personal vaporiser device. It is a tube that holds a replaceable rechargeable battery and on the tube is a button that when engaged completes a circuit that delivers unregulated current to the atomizer. A mechanical mod contains no wiring or soldering, nor any electronics and mor importantly no protection for noobs.

Been reading up again on what to buy and found this Tornado Twist. It looks okay to me but thought I'd check here.

Ego Twist variable volt 650 mah double kit+Mini tank+Dual coil carto/ecig/shisha | eBay

How often do I need to change the coils in the Evod I've got now? I really am new to this, don't even know the lingo yet. The instructions are vague and Google didn't help much. I've changed it once but that was guess work.

In regards to the eBay info:
"each voltage is clearly marked on the dial!"
A major complaint by everyone is the voltage markings on the Twist are invisible.
You already have the charger from your eVod so it's just a matter of picking up some spare batts.

My two pence worth is....

Don't fret too much which exact battery or clearo to start with - I've turned lots of people on to vaping and always tell them to get a couple of ego's and a couple of EVODS, about 10 replacement coils and a few bottles of juice. Then I tell them to call me in a couple of weeks.

The most important thing (unless money is really tight) is to not worry too much about buying something you might grow out of. You only really know what sort of questions to ask after a couple of weeks of vaping, and you will save money in the long run compared to fags.

Keep in mind the heath benefits of the switch and that'll smooth over the slight pain of buying stuff you end up not using or liking.

I've only been at it a couple of month, but now I've got a range of clearos, VW devices, protanks, tonnes of VG/PG/flaourings for DIY mixes, but you can't make sense of all that until you spend a bit of time on the ego and evods (or similar)

Thats my personal sales pitch whenever I get chatting to smokers......
