is this cotton preferred and ready to use without the boiling process or does it need to be boiled?

I've known that the cotton I can use has to be labeled 100% organic and or sterile, but that it needs to be boiled. Whats weird is that this bag says neither. Forgive me for not knowing where it was bought because my mother doesn't really remember where she got it, but let me have it anyway. it states that its 100% pure cotton ...I have boiled some about 4 times already and seems to have no difference to any and all organic cotton I've used before so my question is if anyone here has used this before and if its ready to wick just like that or if I should continue the boiling process

I'm not a chemist, but I don't think boiling makes any difference. A lot would depend on whether or not impurities would evaporate or just boil around with the cotton.

When I started using cotton, I used cotton balls that had been in a ziplock bag in the back of a cabinet for years. I have no idea if they are "organic," and if they were ever sterile they aren't any longer. They worked fine. The only thing I noticed was a cottony taste for the first few drags and they didn't last very long. I have since start using rayon for wicks.

Japanese cotton has become popular lately, but I'm happy with rayon, so haven't tried it.
