Ok so I've been looking for another job something to go along with what I've already got going, and I've got about 5 "hits" in the last 48hours. I have a friend that lost his job 10/09/09.. Was fired out of nowhere because the company needed to cut hours. It's the 21st, well darn near the 22nd now. No job, no "hits" no nothing.
This says one of two things to me (correct me if I'm wrong)
1) he's not trying
2) he's a Jack a** and is not coming across as decent on an application.
I don't think he fully comprehends how utterly CRAPPY the job market is right now.
Well any how, I was telling him about the responses I got just from revamping my resume to be a little more intellectual, a bit more vague, and a lot less basic (if that makes sense) and how simply leaving off pieces of information made it go from sending out resumes and getting no responses, to sending out 4 resume's and getting 4 replies. Being the nice person I am I told him I'd give him the outline from my resume and let him adjust it to himself so that he wouldn't have to spend the 16hours of thought and research I did to make it what it was. Also volunteered to look for possible job opportunities for him.
Well I found this almost immediately.

In return, offers:
---------
My guess is that these guys are probably paying upwards of $10-$12 an hour (most factory type jobs do) as opposed to the $7-$8 an hour he's used to. And It has benefits too! (he's always complaining about lack of medical coverage)
So I tell him about it and you know what his response is? Not "how much is the pay" not "where is it" hell, not eve "what do they make"
He says "I'm not working no 12 hour shifts" 8-o
Can you believe it?! I couldn't.. I almost fell over. In TODAY'S economy? In this job market? Won't work 12 hour shifts?! I've worked 12 hour shifts 5 days a week before and he want's to complain about 12 hour shifts that only add up to an average of 40ish hours a week? If my 11 O'Clock interview tomorrow pans out right I'll be working from about 9am to 12am every day, that's what? 15hours a day? 5days a week. And he's going to complain about 12hour shifts?! Ugggg! It makes me want to beat him half to death.
When I asked him why not, his response was "if I had a family and kids, or a house of my own I might but I'm not doing it without that" ... my response "and that's exactly why you're never going to go anywhere in life or have the things you want, you're too good to actually WORK" (which resulted in the end of a conversation and a ticked off friend
)
So guys and gals, am I over irritated with the whole subject or does this boy need a good ol fashioned southern a** kickin?
