I have been vaping for over a year now and it seems that there are less and less people on the forums and the values of mods have been going down. Is vaping dying? I was thinking of creating a high end mod, and don't want to get into a dying market. Please let me know what you guys think.

Nope, vaping is still blasting in record numbers. Things are rapidly changing though. Inexpensive, regulated mods are booming. MVP, Istick, etc and they should be. 30 bucks for a 20w mod that lasts all day. Tanks that last, don't leak & hold enough juice to last all day. Not as many issues or questions on the forums as there used to be because stuff works better & better all the time. There will always be a few folks that will want the high end stuff but for the every day vaper an Istick & Aerotank for $50 delivered to your door is tough to beat.

On the contrary, I see more and more people vaping. The fact that their are so many gum, patch, and medicinal drug commercials attests to vaping taking "traction" against tobacco and pharmaceutical companies. (jeez, another commercial just came on...)

At first thought, I don't know if forum presence is a measure of market influence. That would need a study.

The "values" of MODs going down, I take it that you mean the monetary value? VV/VW MOD technology and competitiveness are way up. Not only are U.S. manufacturers competing with each other, but China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, etc. have very strong influence in keeping prices low.

As to high-end MOD developing, it seems like it would only be a niche portion of the market. I have a custom-made MOD, but so are REOS and others. One area that seems to be growing is the "Build your own" market.

Hopefully, others will weigh in.

Edit: Jeez, the time it took me to write this, so many others jumped on to the same idea.

Good to hear. I'm just basing my info off the fact that a year ago there would be several pages in the classified section per day. And now there are several days worth on one page :(

Thanks for the help guys.

And no worries there won't be any pre-orders.

Are people still heavily using mech mods or have people changed to DNA mods now a days?

If by "dying" you mean that the market is fast becoming saturated and that it's getting harder for vendors out there to make a buck just by being open for business, then yeah probably. It is however, much more complicated than that as the market demand is actually growing, and the supply is growing with it and causing it to look like stasis.

Forum members come and go, I myself haven't been on ecf for at least 18 months but I'm back now and I'd imagine that most people who find their feet with vaping have less of a need to come online and ask questions unless, for example, they have a rig failure or are contemplating the purchase of a new fandangled tank thingy.

There are of course future regulations to consider yet even if the US makes the sale of vaping equipment completely illegal, the smart vendors will figure out how to profit even under those circumstances. If you decide to put your business hat on, I wish you all the best.

About a year ago I posted a thread where I commented that this forum has 160,000 registered members (IIRC). Today there are 232,233.

No, it's growing; there's more places to find information.
Prices are going to keep going down and more people get into the market.
