As most things, (in my opinion), the more popular it gets, the quality goes down. You get more of the posers that are just doing something because it's "cool" or mainstream... which irritates me... But that's life. It's definitely not dying... it's just becoming more mainstream... I mean, wasn't vape/vaping the 2014 word of the year or something?

New technology is being released at an ever expanding pace. I'm amazed at what has transpired in the just three short years since I bought my first cheapy cigalike. Vape shops are springing up all over...definitely not dying.

That's for sure. I don't know how many times I've been searching for something new all the while wishing "if only there were one that did <insert wish>" then BAM! Within days of placing my order something new pops up that would have fit the bill perfectly.

I don't think its going anywhere, vaping is here to stay. However the majority of vape only stores are struggling because of their own greed. Many are pricing themselves right out of business. Online buying is the only efficient way to go for the vaper.

I was at vape store recently and the store was asking three times the amount for a dual coil as I can buy it for online and his liquid prices are outrageous also, I didn't buy anything, I walked out. Another vape only store near me hardly ever has a customer in the place and many vapor stores are closing down due to lack of business. But the reality is the customers are ordering what they want and not buying from greedy stores. However the most profitable walk in stores are smoke shops which sell both tobacco and vape products instead of just one or the other and in most cases are usually far better priced.

I've been a regular on ECF since January, and I think I've peeked into the classifieds once. The lack of busy-ness in the classies is NO indication of ANYTHING. Sheesh.

Vaping is definitely not dying; it's spreading like wildfire!!

I watch the classys, and given it some thought. The quality of clones has significantly improved over the past 6 months, IMO, and the new attys and VW devices have hit the market in that time are a vast improvement also. You have to consider that the kids going 'cloud chasing' can get a 150w box mod for less than an authentic tube mech. And take into account the vast and growing number of vendors (which speaks volumes to our growing number), I think the classys are an unreliable place to judge the growing tide of vapers.

Good to hear. I'm just basing my info off the fact that a year ago there would be several pages in the classified section per day. And now there are several days worth on one page :(

Thanks for the help guys.

And no worries there won't be any pre-orders.

Are people still heavily using mech mods or have people changed to DNA mods now a days?

I see two pages of posts since about 2pm this afternoon in the classys. I guess now there are more sources for buying and selling mods, perhaps the classified forum isn't as busy as it used to be, but just look around other parts of the forum - 300, 400 and sometimes 500+ members browsing individual forums at a time.

DNA is all the rage, temperature control is just becoming more mainstream, and personally I think it will be the big thing of 2015. That said, high wattage regulated devices are also gaining popularity, but there will always be a market for mechs.

Just browse through the picture of your setup thread... that'll give you a great idea of what devices people are using.

I have been vaping for over a year now and it seems that there are less and less people on the forums and the values of mods have been going down. Is vaping dying? I was thinking of creating a high end mod, and don't want to get into a dying market. Please let me know what you guys think.

Didn't you hear? Everyone stopped, but you.

Wow, this thread exploded.

How about now, after it doubled in length since your post and the day's not even over yet?

I think just the speed at which this thread blew up is the answer to the original question and the answer is : Watcha talkin' about boy?

The speed at which vaping technology moves nowadays might be a reason why people don't bother as much selling their old stuff. I bet some people buy so much gear they don't have time to fill out classifieds and just give away their old setups to people interested in vaping... or perhaps they just call it a collection instead of getting rid of it.

As for authentic prices coming down-
Kinda sorta.
For a long time, most high end mods were $150-$180, MAYBE $200 for a rare telescoping mod.
Then, it seemed like over the first 18 months of the last two years, a bunch of new, unproven modders popped up charging $250 plus for mods that performed no better than the old Atmizoos, Gus, Nemis, Super T and so on.
So to me, its just coming back in line.
It looked to me as if a bunch of guys were ripping a bunch of newer vapers.
It blew my mind reading threads in here where it seemed that folks truly thought that you couldnt find an authentic for less than $250.
To add insult to injury, that first bit of the trend saw some really expensive yet terrible mods being sold. I remember a lot of switch problems.

Vaping is growing like a weed. Make money off mods is not. If you release a mod thats of any quality it will be cloned in two months of pennies on the dollar. Make a good quality low to mid price mod and you may have a shot. I'm a huge fan of and only buy authentics. If you made a high end mod would it really be any new, innovative or different than what is on the market?

The reason why you should be worried about not making any money by manufacturing mods is not because vaping is dying (who are you kidding anyways?).

The reason is competition.

There is so much people making mods out there that for yours to stand out of the crowd... It better be Good (notice the capital G here).

As said above... If you don't innovate.... You stand zero chance.
