Yep. Plus One. The amount of competition, the quality of competition and the price of the competition is all key here. Exactly what the man said. And there are vape shops springing up like mushrooms, so many vapers don't get to the forum at all as they have a direct one-on-one opportunity to find out about vaping.

(Of course, whether we on ECF, would consider a vaping store experience as a good one in terms of really good advice and value compared to discussion here and online purchasing is a different matter).

The reason why you should be worried about not making any money by manufacturing mods is not because vaping is dying (who are you kidding anyways?).

The reason is competition.

There is so much people making mods out there that for yours to stand out of the crowd... It better be Good (notice the capital G here).

As said above... If you don't innovate.... You stand zero chance.

Less focus on high end mods is not because vaping is dying. It's because mods has gone from being 'rare' to becoming a commodity. Everyone and their dog is making a mod. And from what I can tell, you no longer need high-end gear to get a great vape. The more exclusive items have gone from being a must to being more of a special interest kind of thing.

Judging from the influx of new members daily on ECF, I'd say vaping is finally hitting a steep growth curve and increasing exponentially. The press is finally beginning to give vaping a fair shake. Congress saw the need to hold fact finding hearings.

Yeah, I'd say that vaping is finally beginning to take off like a rocket. When the tobacco companies try to take over the industry, you know that it's a serious threat to them. People are quitting smoking and even the tobacco companies are choosing vaping as their next new cash cow.

Good to hear. I'm just basing my info off the fact that a year ago there would be several pages in the classified section per day. And now there are several days worth on one page :(

Thanks for the help guys.

And no worries there won't be any pre-orders.

Are people still heavily using mech mods or have people changed to DNA mods now a days?

IMO, if you want to get into this market you need to be spending more time checking it out than you are right now.

People are still buying mech mods, but I think the market is moving more to regulated devices. Temperature protection might be big in a while, specially with regulation looming in the US and being enacted in Europe. Or maybe not. Regulation is IMO definitely a huge business risk factor right now.

Whoa. No its not buddy. Ive been vaping from august 2013, and people in Indonesia, where i came from were not aware of PV. Now, we have TONS of B&M store! Tons! I mean aaaalooootttt. But, this is something i worried about. We have an issues with health regulation. And again, the law and regulation could means anything. When they say vaping is dangerous, then it will be the end for vaping industry in indonesia

Vaping is not dying, needless to say that vaping is the word of 2014, just check out the ecig stores n online website, they have sprung up all over the world.

Exactly this! As well, the forum is probably less used due to more information being available by more people... Not sure the forum has less people though... anybody?

Vaping dying? I hope not, I just started about a month ago!! The 4 vape shops that opened up within 5 miles in the last year do not indicate such.

What I have noticed are a lot of forums / message boards in general are kind of slowing down.

I moderate 2 forums (not vape related) and we have seen a decrease in activity over the last 2 years on both forums.

My guess, social media makes a big dent in that.

Vape only stores in general don't do so good. Smoke shops which sell tobacco and vape stuff do very good. I drive by a giant vape only store daily and there's hardly ever a customer in the store cause the place is crazy overpriced. I also drive by the smoke and vape store which is fairly busy and much better priced.

I see the pop up vape stores going out of business all the time but the smoke shops seem to be doing very good.

On the contrary, I see more and more people vaping. The fact that their are so many gum, patch, and medicinal drug commercials attests to vaping taking "traction" against tobacco and pharmaceutical companies. (jeez, another commercial just came on...)

I agree with you and think that this is a huge indication that vaping is not die, but instead is flourishing, and that BT and BP are threatened by it

That and now as I browse by the jewelry when Ed's tool shopping in pawn shops..there's Provari's and other high end vape gear in some of the cases.

that's a true indicator of the popularity and growth of an item..if folks pawn it for cash.:p
Or people who can't afford it buying high-end items.

In my area we have quit a few vapor sites and they are always busy the one I go to is packed they have a lot of good quality stuff there's another on that is closer that is extremely busy but everything is the cheap stuff from fasttech and they double the price and sell like crazy the tobacco shops have almost no one buying e cigs in them because they are ridiculous prices.

As others have said, it's not dying. It's going mainstream. As that happens, the close culture the community has known will start to subside a bit, and there will be less need for people to seek out forums to get information. They can ask that guy or lady they know, or go down to the vape shop rather than posting about it. Second-hand sales might be moving to places like Craigslist (mainstream), but I can't be sure of that.

I've seen similar things happen in various hobbies of mine. It's the way it goes as something gets more popular. The forums will increasingly be a place for the most invested, hard core people to talk, but the mainstream and casual people will just do things offline.

Weird thread; troll much? Not sure.

Vaping is exploding were I live on the west coast, so much it's almost a trendy fashion statement for scenesters. Everyone is vaping. It used to just be us long time smokers, but now all the kiddies that have been smoking for 3 months have switched over. Even people that "didn't smoke" but would go to hooka bars on the weekends are now vaping instead.

You might see some forums slow down do to the fact there are a ton of vaping forums now.... Plus there's so many vaping FB groups it would blow your mind. I now spend more time on the FB vaping groups than on ECF. There are open FB vaping groups with thousands of members, then there's small hidden groups you can't search for. You have to know someone already in the group, then they hit up the admin and vouch for the person and then they get added. Plus most of the FB groups have no restrictions, you can say whatever you want and post whatever you want.

Shoot, it's so big they just added "vape" to the Websters dictionary this year. That's how big it is. It's not going anywhere. It's like cell phones.... Even ghetto country's with no money that are 20 years behind everyone else in fashion and music are vaping.

Vape shops have heavy and light activity depending on the time of day and which day you are in one. If you walk into a burger joint at 3 in the afternoon, you'd say that the fast food industry is dying out.

The owner of the local vape shop here says that business is booming. She opened up a second shop in the next town over and it's actually doing a little more business than the first one, which in itself is making lots of sales.

I prefer to go there when it's not busy. I get to talk with the guys behind the counter and look at all the new stuff. When they are packed there's some wait time.
