Is vaping in public "douchebaggy"?

I'm the only one in my family who vapes, although some others like my dad smoke cigars.

I'm always afraid to vape in public cause I feel like people are gonna give me weird looks, I don't understand the hate against vaping and neither do my friends who vape.

Is it something I just shouldn't do around people?

Vaping is just one of many rather normal things to do in public that will get you weird looks. But that's no reason to stop you. As long as you're not intentionally chucking huge clouds in a crowded area, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. And as long as you know that, that's ok.

Think of it like this:
Its obviously alot less DB than smoking.

I don't need people to notice my vaping anywhere ever and it's fine with me if they don't. I felt the same about smoking. Unlike smoking I can vape just about anywhere if I really want to because I've learned ways to do it undetected or with so little visual impact that if somebody sees me going through the motions they either don't know what I'm doing or can't think of a reasons to make an issue of it. For a vaper who favors big clouds and being noticed the options are more limited.

May be I could have a youtube channel called Vaping Where No Man Has Vaped Before. But bystanders would notice me making a video about nothing which would be sort of weird. Then again that's what most youtube videos are about already.

I avoid vaping in public - I find people generally regard it as bad or worse than smoking. I've grown tired of trying to educate the masses (well, not the masses... just the people I run into that feel they have to warn me that e-cigarettes are dangerous, didn't you know?)

When I'm stopped at a light, waiting for it to turn green I feel like people are looking at me like... o_O

As long as you aren't openly vaping in prohibited places where you could get in trouble, I don't see a problem.

On my way into Walmart this week, I noticed a nice-looking couple vaping on the sidewalk about 30 feet left of the entrance. I stopped and congratulated them, and we exchanged a few words. A couple of years ago, I used to see quite a few people vaping in public, but as the tide has turned negative lately, I hardly see any now. It was nice!

Of course, since I AM a vaper, I welcome that. Some people would not. As long as you aren't blatantly breaking any rules, I say vape on!

It depends on the situation. Random people walking down the street are not really going to appreciate walking through/smelling your clouds.

Nor do I appreciate their perfume/smoke/body odor/cologne, but i tolerate it and act with courtesy.
Public is public. My vape and I are part of it too.

Just be respectful. I do it all the time

Always be courteous.
I always show courtesy.
Respect, however, is earned.

It is the way I do it. Big clouds right in peoples faces...babies too...why should the babies get a free pass right?!

Ok obviously kidding there right?! Right!

I was vaping at work(outside in the smoking area) today and a smoker who worked in a different building on campus approached me and started asking about my setup, how it worked, how long Ive been off smokes, how they could get started again after having tried 3 yrs ago and having a terrible experience with their evod pen and crappy service at the only B&M at the time. We talked for about 10 minutes or so and they are going to give vaping another shot.

If we act like an @**H**e when vaping in public then thats how we will(and should) be perceived, but if we vape respectfully and are prepared to answer even the most ridiculous(to us) questions in a respectful manner then perhaps public opinion might change a bit in regards to vapers.

I always vape in public, so long as I'm doing it respectfully. This means, vape in smoking areas when in public, don't vape in areas which don't allow vaping or smoking, like hospitals. stand away from entrances if your going to be vaping outside work, for instance.

People look at you weird because they don't know what your doing.. it's obviously not smoking, so they are simply confused. (Either that or they are checking out what device your using.. ) Don't worry about what others think, when it comes to that. Most of your feelings of uncomfort, are due to the newness of vaping for you, you will become much more comfortable with it in time.. no worries.

It was funny, just yesterday there was someone vaping on their way to the inside of their work, I was looking at them, perhaps openly, and trying to figure out what gear they were using, and wondering (to myself) if perhaps they might like a mod I have that I don't like.

You just never know what people are thinking, when they are looking at you. :D

Yeah, those things are also inconsiderate, but that wasn't the question. I could list 100 things people do that annoy me on a daily basis and I tolerate - but I still think the people who do those things are... d-bags

When I am vaping in public and someone decides they need to inform me about how bad vaping is they get a instructional lesson into how vaping is 95% or more safer then smoking. I use it as a perfect opportunity to provide the correct information and dispel the myths. Now if I am in someone home or vehicle I will always ask before I vape because I respect others but outside to me it is free space.
