just curious to know if anyone else had/has problems sleeping if they vape too late or too much before bed? ive had a problem with getting/staying asleep due to back problems and pain. i will typically sleep for 45-60 min, get uncomfortable with an increase in pain and stay awake for 15-30 min.

ive been vaping for 2+ months and it seems like the lack of sleep is getting worse. i dont know if my pain increase is causing it or the vaping or both. i also dont feel the need to nap eventhough i havent gotten much sleep. this is new. i used to nap during the day to compensate for the lack of sleep at night.

lmk if you are having increased insomnia and or seem to need less sleep that may be attributed to the nicotine (yes i know its a stimulant but smoking analogs never caused this problem for me).

Sorta the same situation for me. Peripheral Neuropathy and lower back injury combined with arthritis from uneven gait...uhg...that's a mouth full. Anyway, not sure if it's the vaping that is doing it since we have lowered our nicotine down to 12mg already in 4 months. I just wonder if it may be the bodys/brains way of dealing with withdrawl from the other chemicals in cigarettes. Or possibly just feeling healthier in general. I usually take 45 min to an hour to get comfortable enough to sleep but am a very light sleeper without meds. I've found that when I wake up it is getting harder to fall back asleep with or without vaping. I started leaving my ego in the other room at bed time and it hasn't made a difference either way. I'm interested to see what responses this thread gets. Just my input.

I struggle to get to sleep anyway... As with anything medical, I will always suggest trying to speak to a doctor about the pain in your back as any suggestions I could make might only make it worse.

However, on the nicotine front, what strength and how much are you using per day? I tend to use a higher strength during the day and a lower one at night so I am currently using 8mg during the day and 4mg in the evening. This works out pretty well for me as I'm now also using different flavours too so I'm associating the taste of coconut with sleeping.

I notice that you haven't posted much yet so how long have you been vaping for? Perhaps this is a transitional period in getting used to vaping rather than smoking?x

I actually get right to sleep after a vape. Quite often, if I wake up in the middle of the night, I will just vape away and eventually, I will actually get sleepy. I keep a cigalike by the bed for that explicit purpose.

And on a semi-related note, one thing I've noticed when doing this that I found interesting was how CRAZY-VIVIDLY-INTENSE my dreams get when I fall back asleep immediately after vaping. I'm talking like, Inception-grade lucidity and clarity. And they are looooong in dream time. Days seem to pass by out there and the chains of events are all very contiguous, as random as they may get. I sometimes find myself lost in dreams that are so long and convoluted that waking reality is what catches me by surprise. Upon waking, I'll have been so lost in the dream that my mind has sort of conditioned itself to think and observe with regards to the realities I was experiencing in the dream. The memories are so strong that they trickle into the continuity of my reality-based thinking for those first few minutes of re-animation (not in the sense that I'm not perceiving reality as usual, more just that a part of my mind is still out there.) It gets to the point where I actually forget what I'm supposed to be doing that day for a minute or two even as I prepare to do it. That is just how immersive the vape dreams have been for me.

Most of the time, it's a good thing. But I'd rather not get into some of the nightmares this has caused.

ive been vaping for 2+ months. quit smoking cold. i love vaping... the taste, smell, how it feels in my throat and nose. i smoked for 28 years and this has been the only time ive been able to get rid of them without looking back.

my back and other joint problems have been an issue all my life but didnt find out why or start having related surgeries until 2004. ive been on pain mgmt since 2006 but the meds dont make me sleepy anymore. infact they wake me up so i dont take them close to bedtime. the meds only give me minimal relief but i choose to just deal with it instead of increasing them. its painful for me to sleep in one position for too long.

ive also had more lucid dreaming. used to only be a few times a year now its a couple times a week. i would assume if the nic is causing the sleeplessness it would cause that too. again the meds havent caused this problem in a long time.

i used to smoke right before bed without any issues but it was rare that i smoked during the wake-ups mostly because i didnt smoke in the house. i vape everytime i wake up probably because its convenient... i dont have to be completely dressed or conscious to do it. im hoping that if it is the nic the effect will wear off soon and i can get back to not sleeping my normal amount. glad to see im not the only person with this problem.

I am taking 25mg Nortriptylin at bedtime to help me with sleep (PTSD). Started that before I quit. I fall asleep almost immediately. I used to wake up at 6:00 automatically. Now I wake up-- whenever. I think it was nicotine withdrawal that would wake me up. I agree that my dreams are more vivid and memorable.

I have never had any trouble sleeping. After quitting smoking entirely 4 weeks ago and vaping 24-18mg juices, I have started sleeping much less. I'd say I'm typically getting 6 hours now when before it was 10 or so. I don't feel tired during the day at all, it's just like my body requires less sleep. Dreams also come more often than they used to which is cool.

Nope. No problem sleeping. But I'm just curious. Everyone seems to say they start the day with a higher nicotine level and lower it later in the day. Well, I'm actually the opposite. I start at 12mg, and by evening, it's 24mg or 36mg. If I don't increase the nicotine level, I don't get the throat and nose hit in the evening and at night.
Anyone have this problem?

I tried the patches once and I had dreams so bad it became very annoying. I had a feeling that the vaping (I just started vaping 3 weeks ago) would do that too since I seem to be getting a LOT more nic than I did with cigs, but so far that's not been the case. However, the sleeplessness was a problem at first, the first week or so I had to borrow a sleeping pill from my wife to get a decent night of sleep. Since then the sleeplessness has faded and now I'm back to my usual routine and I fall asleep as fast as my head hits the pillow.
