Well, when Vapor Joe starts his pimp of the 'new' forum by labeling ECF as having "Nazi" moderation what would you expect? :p

That said, I don't begrudge Joe the opportunity to make a few bucks doing what he is doing or opening a forum of his own. He's a Facebook friend and I belong to at least two of his Facebook groups, mod Envy & vaping Deals and Steals.

I didn't see him mention ECF anywhere. I'm sure that ECF was among the forums he was referring to, but my no means the only one.

My point was that ECF has not lost it's way, as they have done and continue to do, exactly what they set out to do.

Yeah, those people started Vaper's Forum, which after going strong for awhile now appears to be about dead.
Probably because so many people were enjoying their freedom to act like jerks.
:)

I think vapers forum is dead because ECF owns it don't they?
What made Vapers Forum great was that you could say words like {MODERATED} and not have it edited out of your private pm's.
The new site will have moderators from what I know and will not tolerate all the fabulous metaphors that Mal could come up with to describe "HopeLess"......

anyone remember BBS-ing back before the days of "free" AOL disks bombarding your mailbox?

I ran a BBS for about 2 years. 4 phone line for 4 callers! It was a hoot! The computers were so slow then as well. Everything would just slow down as callers logged in. Remember typing in the address for every web site? I think Webcrawler was one of the first web browsers.

Nothing wrong with being a member of many forums! From my old and female point of view, I just find constant expletives and general nastiness boring and annoying. So I personally do prefer to stay right here and feel the Mods do a great job. There's only one problem I have found of late. Never mind vaping, I've become addicted to ECF lol!

I'm sure there's many ideas and conversations I've missed out on with that point of view as a result, but I can't put up with wading through all the waste.

I agree. For some reason there seems to be some sort of "Competition" going on between factions that at least state they are non profit and doing this for the love of the hobby or assisting smokers quit. It is fairly obvious certain vaping celebrities are supporting their hobby with freebies from manufacturers and vendors. I think this is spilling over to the forum scene. I guess this is inevitable with any interest that becomes extremely popular. By the way just in case any vendors or suppliers wish to send me items for review I will be more than happy to review them for free and keep them as well. I have an audience of 1 but very interested in vaping.

I don't want this thread to go down the road of criticising other people's forums, so it's being closed.

It's OK if other forums want to have posts criticising us and basically that's par for the course - but we do not need to join in as there is no need for it. Later on, as harsher and harsher regulations bite in order to try and get rid of us, there may be a role for even more extreme forums maybe of the underground / invite-only type, whose function is to keep supplies getting to countries where some/all products are banned. We don't need to eliminate forums, we will need more of them.

All the forums have a function and people support them, otherwise they would close. They are all useful to vapers or they wouldn't exist.
