so today the security guard at my job said " please Harmony, if you love your kids, you will not mess with that electronic cigarette. The FDA...blah blah blah".

Literally after I heard FDA I just tuned her out. Seriously?

I really wish that people would realize that the govt is hyping this up so they can move in and make some money off of regulating these things. Are we really that stupid to believe that anything is worse than an analog?

I am not one of those holier than thou people. Hell I loved smoking and still do. I just prefer english toffee instead of newport lights now. LOL

Anyway, carry on.

I just tuned her out.

I really wish that people would realize....

They'll continue to be misinformed if you just tune them out - WE have to get the truth out, because no one else will!

Send them to CASAA.org for more information and/or print out the CASAA tri-fold brochure, FAQs flyer or the Medical Info-graph and use them as handouts. CASAA has the tools available to diseminate information - we just need members to get them distributed out to the public! :)

Make it a long - really long engagement. I married and found out later how controlling he was. I think I knew in the back of my mind but refused to "see" it. If he is like that now it will not get better. I finally had to ask my mother for a check so I could get away.
My (new - well 13 years) husband now is supportive and that is what you and we all need a spouse that loves us and has our best interests at heart.
He could just be waiting for the time to bring it up again. it is the repitition that put the hair up on the back of my neck.

Do you have a smart phone? Bookmark this on it: The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News Analysis and Commentary: FDA's Actions on Electronic Cigarettes Show Absurdity of Entire Tobacco Regulatory Scheme: Asking FDA to Regulate Cigarettes Was a Huge Mistake

Actually there's quite a few on this blog that cut through ignorance like a knife through butter, but this one is a good start to show your antagonist.

If they want to know, This is a short bio of the blogger:

Name: Michael Siegel

Dr. Siegel is a Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences, Boston University School of Public Health. He has 25 years of experience in the field of tobacco control. He previously spent two years working at the Office on Smoking and Health at CDC, where he conducted research on secondhand smoke and cigarette advertising. He has published nearly 70 papers related to tobacco. He testified in the landmark Engle lawsuit against the tobacco companies, which resulted in an unprecedented $145 billion verdict against the industry. He teaches social and behavioral sciences, mass communication and public health, and public health advocacy in the Masters of Public Health program.

It's amazing how most people will just swallow whatever they're fed without doing the least bit of research. Because the government always tells the truth, right? Yeah. Right.

How can someone make it to adulthood and lack such basic critical thinking skills? I really just don't understand it.

Fifteen minutes on Google turns all of the FDA spin on its head. That's all it takes. Just 15 minutes.

I've been wondering if I could find a list of all the stuff in analogs and what chemicals are given off when one is burnt. These same people probably think the analog is just paper and tobacco.

A friend of mine asked me to get her a PV the same time I did. She got menthol juice, I got regular. She's had one excuse after another why she can't use it. The vapor was too harsh. It tasted too tobacco-ee, I need to show her how to use it again, is there flame ......ant in the filer, it's too hard for an old woman to learn...and then she sent me an email of the article talking about the chemical found in antifreeze. I showed the hubs the email, who has never smoked and hates everything analog and isn't exactly thrilled with the e-cig but is trying hard to be supportive. He started to chuckle since he once worked for the EPA testing our local water source - said she'd shoot herself if she knew what chemicals she injected everyday just brushing her teeth or drinking a pot of brewed coffee.

Yet everyday these people mindlessly give themselves cancer with the junk they eat and drink, the endless cellphone usage giving them brain tumors, inhaling car exhaust, etc. I refuse to educate the stupid because they are unable to be educated. The second they parrot anything that comes from the MSM, they're a lost cause. It's not a massive leap of logic to "follow the money" when it comes to e-cigs but they're unable to make even that simple connection.

And that's exactly what I do now.

I hand them a tri-fold brochure and tell them to read that...
http://www.casaa.org/files/CASAA-Ecig-TriFold-Brochure.pdf

And then I hand them an ECF business card and tell them to go there.
I can't find the link to that right now, not sure why.

Elvis isn't alive???

I love the tri-fold brochure. And the one for medical professionals as well. I am going to have a booth at a craft show early next month, and while I will not be selling any JuicyLiquid stuff-- I'll be bending people's names in wire to form necklace charms-- I am going to have a stack of the tri-fold brochures on my table and stick one in the bag with each purchase.

You are right about basic research. After a few months of vaping, my wife realized that this wasn't a fad and had heard some of the negative tripe. So I guess she figured she would arm herself with information to hit me with. So one night she tells me that almost everything she found was positive and the negative stories were the most dubious.

We're here in 2010, with more access to information than at any point ever in human history. There is simply no excuse for ignorance anymore. Even the poorest in our society have access to computers and the internet through their local libraries. Personally I have no tolerance for ignorance and stupidity because these days you literally have to knowingly try to be uninformed.
