Hello everyone. I have a question iv been searching and searching. I recently got my hands on an istick 50. For about a month it worked amazing.
It started auto firing so I took it apart. Cleaned all the juice in/on the button and it worked again. I ended up having to clean it about twice to three times a week.
Now the fire button is completely dead and it just randomly fires while sitting on my desk. No atty is attached so it's been fine chillin there.
My question is has anyone transplanted the guts in to a new enclosure like a hammond box or something. I figured out how I'm going g to tackle this little project, but I wanted to see if anyone here has done this. Sorry if it's already been posted just searching istick 50w in the search brings up soooo many pages hahaha. Thanks everyone

Why would you want to put bad guts in a new box?

Hahahaha I know I know. But honestly the fire button is the only thing I'm having an issue with. They have this bad stigma with them and iv seen some of the pictures and it's pretty bad hahaha. I think I would feel better knowing I tried it and it failed rather then just throwing to the side

I think it's probably the electronics that are south anyway, rather than the button. I don't know that, of course, but they had some QC problems with the 50 watt machine. The problem you describe is what was happening to them. I think you probably have a bad one. Hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't bet big money on it.

The appeal of the Istick is it's form factor, take that away and you've got another run of the mill pv with guts that have a history of issues. As others have said don't waste you're time. You're going to need another enclosure and a fire button.....if it is the fire button, which I doubt. Then you'll need solder, iron, drill, epoxy and likely a connector at the very least.

At that point even if it did surprisingly work you've got Istick guts in a less appealing larger form factor and spent money and time doing it. Toss it and get another mod, you're not going to be out much more money and save much time and frustration.

For sure. I understand what everyone is saying. I have a hana 40, my vapor flask, and my ol trust hana 30 hahaha. so by no means do I need this mod at all its something that was givin to me, and since I have a bunch of hammond boxes and a crap load of switches I thought I would give it a try. But yeah I read allot of horror stories of people's blowing up and starting fires and just all around really bad stuff. I wanted to check if anyone had done it and how there results went. Thank you everyone for the feed back

My iStick 50W failed 2 weeks before the warranty period expired. The local vendor where I bought it replaced it for me. Now, the replacement went dark this morning (4 weeks later) when I set it down after a vape. No button press combination will turn it back on and plugging it into the USB charger won't revive it. It was fully charged when I went to bed last night, so it should be topped off and vaping.

Oddly enough, my iStick 20W is still going strong after a year. My Provari still works like it did out of the box, three years later. I'm thinking of asking for a swap to a different high watt box mod.

ETA: I discovered by accident that it still vapes, but the screen is dead. I can 5 click it to turn it off and on. It's just a dead display.

ETA to the ETA: Just got back from Stormy's Vapor Cellar. They agreed to swap it out again. I asked about what was similar in a different brand. Turns out the Innokin Cool Fire has all the features I want, including USB charge and built in 2000mah battery. It won't vape as long as the iStick 50W's 4400mah dual batteries, but I still won't have to carry around extra batteries, just charge in my truck's USB port. According to the store, they haven't had warranty returns on the Cool Fire, but it's newer. When I asked about the iStick 50 returns, he smiled and said, "No Comment". He was going to refund the $15 difference and I told him to keep it and call it a restocking charge for over 90 days. I'm happy with that.
