They were talking about this on the news this morning as I went out - 'e-cigarettes are a way for smokers to get around the anti-smoking rules....'

*sigh*

It was bound to happen, most particularly in LA....but such ignorance based on fable is mind blowing.

well you can't blame them for thinking that when Blu and other companies specifically TARGETED smokers for that reason,,,,,,but geesh.

Well, there you go. You'll make a fine Politician one day. :D Just remember the slogans like, "vaping is a gateway to tobacco" and "We gotz to save our lil' kiddies from the mean vapers!"

Holy crap. Un-freaking-believable. Who's going to tell Mrs. Kodiak that L.A. is off the Summer Vacation Tour? And they wonder why I live in the woods.

Added: I have just expunged the entire state of California from the Summer itinerary. Too bad for the ladies. New speedos and everything.

Surf's up! (not)

When I am elected your President, mayor, governor and Queen I promise there will be vaping of ALL THE THINGS! There will be vaping in ALL THE PLACES! For the safety of the children so that they may avoid Tobacco!!

One of the reasons stated in the news story I heard on the radio from an LA station was that the vapor contains formaldehyde. I don't know what they based that but I guess facts don't matter to the nanny state as long as they protect us from ourselves. A few years ago they were considering a ban on selling black cars because the black paint radiated more heat than lighter color cars. Gotta love LA. Yep, only because it looks like you're smoking.

What the hell?
I was gonna say "atleast it's just in bars etc"
Vaping outside in public? Comon...

Also:

Critics also point to potential harm posed to individuals who may inhale second-hand vapor from e-cigarettes, saying too little is known about the effects of the chemicals contained in the cartridges.

There is indeed facts about second smoke now! Ignorant piece of...
However about the chemicals i can agree, they're not fully explored yet. Still proven to be safer than ciggs.

At stake is the future of an industry that some analysts believe will eventually overtake the $80 billion-a-year tobacco business.
This is what they're afraid of. Including sweden T_T

I left the L.A. area for good 43 years ago. The smog, which seemed to enhance my allergies, was terrible. It seemed like the only time I saw blue skies (living in the San Fernando Valley) was when the wind was blowing over 40 MPH.

However, I won't be surprised at all when vaping bans take over most of the Texas cities thought. We're just enjoying ourselves way too much.

Not saying its right or wrong. More often than not - vaping gets a bad image because some azz hat in a bar, restaurant, etc is blowing huge plumes with the attitude of " well it's not smoking and vaping isn't expressly not allowed here".

I've never had an issue vaping places because I dont advertise what I'm doing. I keep it low key, am observant of where my vapors are wafting, and pick/choose appropriate times and areas. I vape in airports, on flights, court buildings, daughters basketball game, work, chicago bars, you name it. I'll continue to do so.
