I don't care about analog but I really hate when people call these e-cigarettes. I think it hurts the cause to have these in any form associated with 'cigarettes'. I try to call them PVs as much as possible. I do use the term e-cig on these boards but with the uniformed public, I stay away from the term. That's my 2 pennies worth.

In a perfect scenario I really believe that they should be classified as a reduced harm tobacco product. To me PV says device, which is the last thing we want them to end up as. I use e-cigarette for that reason.

As far as analog goes, I use it interchangeably with cigarette, doesn't bother me one way or the other. When writing the space cadets that are trying to ban e-cigs I tend to use tobacco cigarette just to keep from confusing the poor souls.

I'm usually more of a lurker on these forums but I just had to comment on this one. Is your life so easy that you feel the need to stress over something so stupid??!!! If you don't like the term, just don't use it! Jeez, a little perspective people! How many people lost a loved one today? How many people lost their job recently? How many people couldn't feed their family today? How many people were diagnosed with something? You're griping about a word that people use? Are you kidding?!

Yes I have a very very easy life. I wake up in the morning and after my second bloody mary, I gaze from the fourth floor out upon my employees, who are tending to my farm. I call down to them, simpletons mind you, that they are doing a great job farming things.

A bit later on, after my 45 minute sponge bath, administered by two extremly attractive women, I light up a cigar with a few hundred dollar bills. This is awesome let me tell you... watching ol Ben Franklins' face while I ignite him on fire is something every good American should see.

Cigar you may be asking ... why a cigar? This is a member of e cig forum ... he must have e cigs. This is a fact. I do have e cigs, but when my awesome, easy life needs to be shown to the plebians around me, I smoke a cigar. Live with it.

So by now it is lunch and I have my personal chef make me a ribeye steak, medium rare of course. Any more cooked and the poor animal would have died in vain. As I dine upon my food, I will sometimes look out the window and make sure all the field workers are on lunch as well, perhaps they were so lucky today to have a baloney sandwich. Who knows, I cannot interject in these affairs.

Around 2 PM I log on to the e cig forums, just to see how everyone has been. I enjoy posts from people like, say, Wonderwoman. Very informed and useful information. That is when I see the word "anolog" and become enraged. It is a truly stupid comparison in all known ways, and as my butler comes in to give me my 5th drink of cognac, I start to type... this is what you see here

It is ten times as pretensious as Steve Jobs! Bono is less of a ......... than that term. And it does not even make sense! AT ALL!! There is no rhyme or reason behind calling them that.

It is more annoying than if Jar Jar Binks had a kid with an Ewok and a fanboy pretending to be a Klingon!!

That single term I bet has driven off hundreds of would be members.

I for one am about ready to haul on out of here -- prob will not be missed, but still, I like to help sometimes -- if I read that term again.

I have to agree with you. Analog sort of bugs me too.

I have a Kindle and I do not read books anymore, I read my Kindle.

I smoke a e-cig (sorrry rosesense) now and I can also deal with calling it a PV as it is my personal vaporizer.

Vaping as a term sort of bugs me, but I do use it as that is what most people seem to call the act of smoking a PV.

If someone asks if I quit smoking, my answer is no, I still smoke nicotine.
I try to remember the 30+ years I smoked cigarettes and really enjoyed them and not turn into one of those anti smoking pretentious nazis just because I changed from one habit to another. And I see that attitude here often.

BTW, I don't think 'analog' is particularly apt, since the electronics in e-cigs are analog circuits, AFAIK, so there isn't really a distinction there that works. But I ain't gonna get worked up over it.

What you need is to propose a better alternative to "analog". I've seen vapers (mostly Europeans, I think) refer to cigarettes as "pyros" and I kind of like it. "Pyro" is shorter than either "analog" or "cigarette" and it rolls off the tongue better. It's also more accurately descriptive of the primary difference between cigs and e-cigs.

"Analog" never bothered me that much, but to me "PV" is what sounds douchey. IRL, I could never bring myself to refer to my ecig as a PV.

I don't think there will ever be a consensus on terminology, so you are destined to continue seeing the word "analog" used.

Ipads, I agree are just a way for Apple to make loads of money off the general populace riding on the tails of the Ipod touch and Iphone.

Simply buying one, however, would not make someone a .......... It just means they have the funds to support their technology habit and don't understand/care that a laptop is more functional, and has more storage space than the equivalent of a 10 year old "top of the line" hard drive for roughly the same cost.
