It seems too simple- am I missing something?

Thanks Mark.

You brought up one other question that perhaps someone can answer:

When I was reading hoosier's blog earlier he mentions using Cotton Candy flavoring in place of EM. Did I read that correctly? I ordered the EM since I wasn't sure, but I noticed the vendor I ordered from had the Cotton Candy cheaper by volume than the EM. Would it be used in the same way? Any need to dilute or add anything to it or just use it as is?

Thanks

I just show them my ecig and ask for just the syringes, this way they don't think I'm a crack head. Then I ask how much, and they usually wave me away and just give them to me for free ;)

I crush the menthol crystals in a really small baggie with my meat tenderizer, them mx them with pure grain alcohol, and set the bottle in warm water, then shake the hell out of it. Use 1 drop per ml of eliquid.

I use TPA cotton candy flavor. I mix at 20%, then add 1 drop/ml each of cotton candy and marshmallow, seems to give the finished liquid depth.

I also really recommend Capellas flavorings. Pretty idiot proof, and excellent taste. You can buy them direct from Capella or ecigexpress or high desert. I use high desert, they are pretty much the cheapest, and John is a great guy.

Hmmm, I plan to order about the same as john, but getting my nic base in VG. My overall mixing goal is 50/50, but I have had a few juices from vendors in 100% (100ish I suppose) VG that I enjoyed, so I want to try and recreate that, so starting with a VG base seems the way to go, then get a bunch of plain PG and VG to work with. I'm kind of waiting until my mother visits this week and helps me get the 2nd bedroom in my apt setup. I want to see how much extra room there is to have a small table setup for doing my mixing. I know if I do this, I want to have an area in the apt with little to no distractions etc etc. The idea being come in and focus just on making my mixes and then be done for the day.

Excellent- thanks for all the info on cotton candy and syringes. It looks like this is going to be easier to put together than I thought! :)

I am lucky in that I have a whole room already set up for my home office- it's a pretty good sized room and my work only requires my computer in a small portion in the corner since everything I do is online.

I have a second desk that literally just has random items piled on it. Last night I started clearing that away and I will set that up for my mixing tasks. This way I can keep the door to the room shut so the cats can't get in here and contaminate anything or eat my stuff and harm themselves. I have a book shelf right above that desk that will be for some supplies and I have a plastic 5 drawer storage container that I have never known what to do with- it fits perfectly beside that desk and will become another supply area.

Wow, I am only 3 weeks into vaping hardcore (I have vaped off and on the last 3 years with the "crap" models) and I feel like I have accrued so much stuff already! lol

Hint for DIY. Get a small cheapie plastic tray, with sides, from a dollar store, do all mixing in that tray space. I use one that's about 10"x14", sloped sides go up maybe 3/4". This contains spills and really simplifies cleanup. (A plastic bag for trash and roll of paper towels are your friends, too -- I wipe down bottles before labeling, etc.)

I'm in my 7th. I don't have a whole lot of stuff. My old 808 kit is somewhere in the apt. Then 4 eGo batteries, 2 650mah -C and 2 650mah Twists. I've got a couple of tanks (Including a Bella) that I need to get around to ordering some single coil cartos for ... and then a whole bunch of juice. Other than doing some DIY for juice, I really don't see getting much more. Sure the Provari looks sweet as does the GLV-2 ...but for right now I really want to see some of my forecasted savings. Would be nice to do my Key West trip in August and not feel like I'm on a shoe string budget. I will probably consider getting myself a bigger APV as a Christmas present or something. But I dunno. The Twist batteries are doing me nicely for now.

One more tip, then I'll shut up...i make a big batch of my nic mix. I do 80/20 PG/VG with 20% flavoring, so i make up the nic mix ahead of time, and then allI have to do is grab a bottle, add the flavoring and nic mix, and I'm done...easy peasy :)

lol- You can speak all you want. I am absorbing all this info from you more experienced people. I do like your idea. That would save me time in making a flavor each time. Thanks!

The ejuice-me-up calculator is the best! It has embedded recipes also..makes if soo easy :D

Yes, I downloaded ejuice-me-up last night.

I also downloaded ejuice calculator V13 scubabatdan because I like the feature on comparing prices vs amounts just so I could use it to convince my wife how much money I will save making my own juice! :D Her biggest concern was how much time I would spend doing the mixes as opposed to the money!

I will use ejuice-me-up for the mixes though.

The time part doesn't bother me. Anything that can drag me away from the recliner, even for an hour or so is a good thing. :) I'm trying to get a few friends and coworkers interested in vaping, so I have a feeling early on I may have to explore some tobacco flavors, since it seems like everyone wants something that at least tastes close to cigarettes at first. Granted that was me, but it only lasted until my first order from MVS when I got some High Caliber cherry. I haven't used my initial juice since. Might try it out soon just to see what it tastes like, since I really don't remember. It's a menthol and it did it's job to get me to switch. :)

I mix mine in 50ml dripper bottles, and i do probably 5-10 bottles at a time. I think I do it differently than most of the people here though.

I mix single flavor bottles and then let them steep solo for a bit, and then mix those together. Right now, I'm using Spearmint, Mint, Peppermint and Maple. So I mix up 50-100 mls of each and then mix them into smaller bottles after they have steeped alone for a bit. Last mixing session, i mixed up about 400mls, and i think it took me half an hour.

I kind of thought the process would not take that long to do. It seems like less time than I even thought though, so that is good.

However, I was talking to a friend of mine earlier today that is also vaping. I told him about my new adventure to make my own mixes. He got super excited and now wants me to make his juice. We have another friend that is also vaping so I am going to mention it to him as well.

Unfortunately neither of these two are into quite as much as I am. One of them is happy with his ego battery and carto (although he was super impressed with my Vtube) but it is keeping him off cigarettes so if he is happy with that then I think that is awesome. I am still trying to get them both more into it so I have someone to regularly "talk shop" with. lol

The short times are once you get a bit of experience. It's actually simpler to mix larger quantities, once you get things down a bit.

My all-day-vape is a vanilla tobacco, 12% perfappr tobacco blend alc and 8% natureflavors vanilla. At 60 ml that's 7.2 ml of the tobacco and 4.8 ml of the vanilla, easy enough to eyeball in a 15 ml graduated beaker. I generally use a 60 mg/ml nic base, which means 1 ml of it per mg desired in my final batch of 60 ml. I'm vaping 10 mg/ml right now, it's trivial to do 10 ml of the nic base. I'll typically add about 15 ml of straight VG, then just top it off with 23 ml with PG.

I'm dealing with decent numbers of ml here, and won't sweat a fraction of an ml either way on any of the components. I'll actually tend to be about 7 tobacco and 5 vanilla, with the 10 nic being pretty accurate, but again I won't lose sleep over whether it's 9.5 or 10.5 ml.
