I'm truly amazed! I started vaping yesterday. It's now been over 24 hours and I have not had a single cigarette. As I described in my intro thread, I've smoked for 20 years, 1/2 to 1 PAD, and this is the longest I've gone without a smoke in a looong time. I've tried patches, gum, cold turkey, it was all pure TORTURE. Now I have no cravings and in great mood all day! I'm surprised more people are not doing this.

Welcome to the club, as you journey through life try and spread the word, I slowly see more and more vapors every day, with places like ECF and enthusiastic vapors such as yourself maybe we can make more people see what this can do for them !

Even when I meet people who arent enthusiastic about trying it i try to send them here, Sometimes it helps to see there are more people doing it than we realize and that removes some of the inhibition to start.....................GOOD LUCK and vape ON!!!!!!

Thank you all! Thrasher, I hear ya. I'm already planning on pitching this to my work smoking buddies (who are otherwise about to spend the winter freezing their butts off without me).

Welcome to ECF and to vaping CrazyIvan. My story is almost the same as yours.

I have pitched vaping to a few people and found it a hit and miss thing. I think some people are simply not 'digitally inclined' and look at the vaping process as 'complicated'. Then there are the people who are simply not ready to even think about quiting cigs. I have had success with one person by insisting that he not think about quiting, but just try vaping and see what happens. Gave him some gear and juices and he is now almost entirely vaping and loves it.

Good luck with it and happy vaping :toast:

Yes, they really work. I also haven't smoked a single cig since I picked up an ecig. You have to give yourself a lot of credit too, though. You're being honest with yourself about your craving. You're not having one. I see many folks try this, and they talk themselves right into "it's not working for me". Partly because, they don't really want to quit.

One really important thing to remember is NOT to wait until you crave a cigarette, or you'll be torturing yourself. The delivery system is nowhere near as efficient as a real smoke, it takes longer for the nic being absorbed by your mucus membranes to reach your system. A cig, in the lungs, goes immediately into the bloodstream. Water vapor borne nicotine is only absorbed in the mucus membranes of your oral and nasal areas. You need not even breathe it into your lungs, the vapor molecules are too large to be useful there.

Head off the nicotine cravings by vaping AHEAD of your urge. I can already tell by your attitude, you're going to make it. Congratulations.

Happily amazed here, too! 84 hours since my last cigarette!!! In the past 17 yrs I haven't been awake without a cigarette for more than a few hours. I have somewhat accidentally not smoked another cigarette since noon on Saturday. I don't know if I should say I quit yet, but I am thrilled at this start.

One tip. Everyone says it... everyone.

I cannot emphasize this enough...

Buy more juice, cartos, and batts than you think you need. Keep your batteries charged. Stock up... don't run out! In case of emergency get a disposable at a gas station. These situations are enough stress to drive someone nuts :)

That is my best advice. Cost vs Stress. Always plan ahead. After a while snags aren't that big a deal.

Above all, don't panic. Bring a towel (sorry I'm a nerd and that's a references to Hitchiker's Guide) If you have a slip up, just dust yourself off and start again. People who have a moment of weakness have a tendency to beat themselves up and it's not useful.

Anecdote, I packed my ecig into checked luggage thinking my ego would last through my wait for the flight... it didn't. I used a paperclip, an 18650 battery and a carto to vape outside an airport. Planning avoids looking like me :)

Well said!!! The slow delivery is probably my biggest revelation for me so far and it will take some practice for me to get the "rhythm" down. This morning was the toughest because the instant rush was not there but it was close enough for me to win the battle. I think it's a combination of being able to perform the usual ritual and knowing that the nicotine is on its way that makes this so effective for me. But I think you're right, it probably takes a special mind-set to fully succeed. IMHO, the biggest test for me will be the inevitable stressful situation where I will require some instant nerve calming. I'm in no way considering myself out of the woods yet, but this stuff definitely has the greatest potential of anything I've ever tried or heard of. And the encouragement I've received from you guys helps a ton too btw!!!
