Unfortunately, it sounds like the circuit board in your SVD has died.

Two previously good batteries fail to work in your mod. Do you have another mod which can use the 18350 batteries so that you can test if the batteries are still working? I'm assuming you don't have a multimeter.

By the way, you should have been using IMR batteries, not ICR. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?

"5. We recommend you use IMR high drain 18650, IMR high drain
18500 or IMR high drain 18350 batteries, such as AW IMR18650,
IMR18500 and 18350 batteries. Other improper batteries may
damage iTaste SVD." http://www.innokin.com/manuals/iTaste SVD.pdf

yep, batteries were good (I do need a multimeter though), contacts were clean, batteries were in the right way (come on!) tried to drain residual charge to no avail. Looks like Baditude was right and my circuit board was fried. Back to the basic evod for a while. Any recommendations for a new VV/VW device or was my inoken itaste SVD the bees nees?

Well, my SVD is approaching a year of service, and while the button lost it's click (which seems to be too frequent an issue with them) it still works fine.

Depends on your budget and tastes. If "low end" regulated mods, similar price range to the SVD, you might look at the "lowly" Vamo or a Tesla. The Vamo can be configured to use the 18350, the Tesla is 18650 only.

And hey, like I said, I had to ask the obvious. 40 years as a trouble-shooter hydro plant electrician taught me, among other things, that you look at the obvious first, because if you don't, that's what the problem was.

Sigelei. If you don't want the big pricetag for their 20w or 30w or even more, the zmax v5 is terrific, and not expensive. After I read the entire SVD thread, I realized that they have more problems than you can shake a stick at, so I got a sigelei zmax v3, and it's wonderful, but I think the v3's are mostly being phased out. If you can find a v3, you can probably find it real cheap.

Glad you specified the Sigelei zamx Andria, the Smok Zmax has had a lot of issues according to the APV forums.

I have a Sigelei Zmax mini that I really like. I only use it occasionally and usually in 18500 mode (as I cannot find an 18650 tube for it) and it has never let me down.

It's actually a very solid good looking device. And as you said, bargains can be found on them (and mainy other older APVs)

So OP, I suppose the answer is there are loads of variable voltage devices out there right now that can be had for less than $40. Best advice I can give is drop into the APV forums and take a look around. See which ones people are having issues with and maybe get some more ideas.

I really love my ipv2 50 watt box mod. It has the yihi sx330 v2 chip onboard. It gives a consistent vape up to 50 watts. I've had zero issues or problems with mine. It has a adjustable 510 connection and all atomizers sit flush. It's well made, it has touch fire and traditional firing. It's light weight and sturdy.you can sub ohm down to .2 with it.it locks easily and adjusts wattage in increments of one. It displays battery level, ohms and volts. ohms reading has been spot on. The chip adjusts the voltage to work with the watts your using and resistance. It takes one 18650 battery. I use a IMR high drain 35 amp 2500 mah battery in mine. You can recharge at the wall if you like. It comes with a nice usb charger. This MOD Has A One YEAR Factory Warentee! ! Other mods warentees don't come close to that! It costs around 110. Dollars but worth every penny. Google the ipv2 50 watt box mod. And look at the specs and reviews. It's a great unit, you might consider it. I love mine. I highly recommend it. Like I said I've had no problems with it and it vapes like a dream!

That's so weird that the Smok Zmax has issues, because my other Smok products are really solid, really happy with them, and the Zmax board or chip or whatever it is seems fine -- I only got the Sigelei instead because it costs less! :D (and better looking IMO but that's just me). I have the full telescoping model, but I usually run it in 18490/18500 mode as well, just because it's not so honking tall that way. :D Though I do run in 18650 mode, or even stacked '350s, when we go to my folks' for the whole day. It's an excellent mod! Some people apparently have some issues with the button, but so far (since April) I've had no problems at all.

As for older PVs... I found a steal of a deal on a Vamo V2, $17!! But you know what... I'm not entirely sure at this point that it's a real Vamo and not a "Sears Vamo"... umm, I mean a clone; sorry had a Zappa moment there. :D I just discovered that my 18350 I had in it had gotten down to 3.1v and it hadn't given me a LOW VOL msg of any kind; it was the lack of flavor that tipped me off. I hope that battery isn't ruined. I just put it into my new eFest Luc v2 and it didn't give me an error msg, so maybe it's ok.

was my inoken itaste SVD the bees nees?

The SVD has been called many things, but never the bee's knees. Which in not to say I'm anti-Innokin, I have a Cool Fire 1 and a VTR, both excellent and handsome specimens. I do notice that whatever atomiser I use there is always a drop of juice on the connection pin of the mod, and possibly that seepage will eventually damage the circuit board?

Just clean it off when you change toppers, Pete. Maybe periodically turn it off and swab it out with rubbing alcohol. And give it plenty of time to evaporate before using.

A drop isn't unusual, depending on the topper, it's current maintenance state, and other variables.

I always have a drop on the battery post when I take my cartotank off for filling, they just seem prone to that. I get a bit more than a drop from all my small tanks (ARO pyrex, mini PT II) since I started wicking them with rayon, but I just swab it out, and add a bit more rayon to the flavor wick.

Really hasn't got anything to do with the mod though; it's the topper that's leaking.

Unless, of course, you let enough get in there to leak down around the seal into the insides. That can cause problems.

Well yes its the tops that ooze, but gravity - which has plagued me all my life - means the mods take the consequences.

If I had to do it all over again (My first two mods after using my Ego's were a Vmax and a Smok Zmax) I'd be buying a Sigelei.

True -- and that's one reason I prefer the mini PT II over the ARO -- it's smaller so I refill more often, and thus can see it while it's still just a drop, rather than a flood. With the UDCT, it's just a drop, so I don't worry. But with the kayfuns... no leaking! it's a miracle! :D
