Dan you sure know how to start off the new year! Enjoy my friend.:toast:

You're absolutely right about that!!

But I can't take the credit for this, and I plan on enjoying my new hardware! Sorta sad though, There is NO WAY my mod or Ithaka's will leave the house. I'll enjoy them with a beer or scotch being lazy in my recliner!! hahahaha

Holy hell I just had my worst Ithaka experience yet. A combination of 2 things 1 I didn't have my update screwed in tight enough 2 I had screwed the mouthpiece in too tight haha I'll let you guys fill in the rest. Lets just say I realized what was happening fast enough than not even a drop leaked into my mod and made it to the sink in time to lose all my juice

Dan there are some really great people here which make up the GG family as you can see. We all wish you the very best and we look forward to have you with us for many years to come.:toast: Happy New Year pal

I have noticed that! Never knew when I purchased my first used Ithaka off the Ecf classifieds just what I was getting into. I am so glad I did!

If I have my way with this, I will be here for years to keep bugging you GG experts!!

Finally got some time to setup the new Ithaka with some Five Pawns Private reserve.

Just thought you all might like to see it getting some good use!

My brass justGG+Ithaka, the pair that leaves the house, have taken a LOT of tumbles from face height and are in perfect condition. As I posted in another thread, say what you want about them, they are built like M1 Abrams tanks! Take it out! Take it out!

You hear a woman's sultry voice, release a deep, heartfelt sigh. Then, materializing from a distant Realm, in space, time, and imagination, YardByrd is suddenly seated on a perch on the floor of the "Ithaka official"thread. His perch is plain, brown, wood with a bevel cut on 1/4 of the top of the "T". His enigmatic, platinum, YB medallion is glowing a prounounced orange color, and you hear a deep, smooth, male, Latin, voice, translating for him:

"Hail, lauds, and greetings lovers of all things GG! I come tonight with my story, and experiences, with my Ithaka. I was lucky enough to win one in a monthly drawing that is so generously sponsored, and supplied, by our Mentor and creator of the GG Imeo himself! My 2012 SSGGTS has been a steep learning curve for me but well worth the climb! :)

When I first got my Ithaka I was overwhelmed! Overwhelmed by happiness, surprise, and eventually bepuzzlement! I watched Imeo's video regarding it, in its entirety, 3 times. I could not get my Ithaka to perform. I rebuilt it at least three times; still no success! :( He languished, on the shelf, due to my disappointment (in myself) and frustration at not being able to use this supply system. This supply system that is the only thing that could possibly enhance "My Beauty" my 2012 SSGGTS. After the fourth or fifth attempt to build, and failure, I wrapped it up carefully, place it in a secure place and thought, "Maybe, just MAYBE, one day I will return to it in the off chance of getting a successful build."

In August the first real, true, and reputable B&M vaping shop opened here. I expressed my disappointment to an employee who told me he would help me build my Ithaka! Alas! Scheduling conflicts, and the eventual departure of this employee (in no way due to anything negative) stopped me once again. Recently, I was in my local B&M, and I expressed my frustration at trying to build my Ithaka, and a different employee he said he would help me!

So, today, I went by to see this gracious individual. There is another "builder" who is employed there so I was hopeful. The store became so busy that neither of these individuals could assist me but they wanted to. One told me he would build me a working coil. My sweet Ithaka was taken apart and lay on the glass top counter of this store. I finally scooped it up and went to the nice, free, well lit, and generous building work station there. No success. No assist. The two employees told me my issue was that I needed some ready wire, non-resistant at the ends, and felt it would solve my problem.

After waiting about an hour and 45 minutes, having torn out my one semi good coil, and purchasing some ready wire, I realized I was on my own again and departed. I was so hopeful the ready wire was the solution. It was not.

Returning home I was extremely discouraged, downhearted, and feeling a bit put off. I resolved to go ahead, anyway, try, one more time, giving myself a 2 hour limitation on working, to build the Ithaka, hopefully, with success. The ready wire was of no use. I was baffled. I finally took out the wick that Imeo, so generously sent with it, and used it with 32 GA kanthal and wrapped a coil in the relaxed freehand manner I have become accustomed to. I tested on my Vamo V5 9.9 OHMS! Same as with the ready wire build I discarded? I tested with my inexpensive multimeter: 2.4 OHMS! I was VERY confused. So...I took my inexpensive mech mod I use to sub ohm vape with, threaded the mounted coil, applied a drop of e-liquid and....Voila! I had VAPOR! So...I assumed that for whatever the reason, my Vamo V5 (and my Provari) just didn't like my build. The former gave its reliable "OP" message while the latter STILL read 9.9 ohms...?

So....I put a little e-liquid in the tank, and put it on my Kamry KTS (inexpensive mech mod for sub ohms) and WOW! It was working fine! The vapor and flavor are above superior all the way to extraordinary! I learned how to use the self adjusting connector pin, properly, and filling my tank put it on my 2012 SSGGTS and....OH MY! Success! I could hardly believe it! After months of floundering (due to my own inability), several others telling me that they could, "...build a good coil in a few minutes" and for whatever reason they could not, I had a working Ithaka on "My Beauty"!

IN conclusion I ask your forgiveness, for this old Byrd, for his lengthy post, and his need to share his success somewhere. A similar post will occur on my FB page. I had no one else to relate my experience to and was compelled to share my joy, in the place I believed it would be most appreciated, by others." YardByrd bows very low, his wings extend, his beak pointing straight downward...and suddenly his perch is gone! With a look of surprise YardByrd takes flight and flying upward, and to the left, off to a distant Realm, you hear his final, thankful, and happy adieu: CAW! "

YardByrd you should run on down to your local radioshack or equivalent and pick yourself up a cheap multimeter. My provari sometimes gives me funny readings but the multimeter doesn't lie. It sounds like you might indeed have a 9.9 ohm coil (oh my).

My favorite guy to watch build is Bishopheals he breaks down the build process pretty well.

So I haven't had much success with the new rebuildable part. I'm using 1.5mm regular silica wick, tried a regular build (sorta works), micro build, and dual micro build (reeeeeeeally tight fit) can't get them to wick fast enough, or it floods like hell.

What's worked for you guys? I love the airflow it tastes great. Wish I could build it right though.
