First, I really dont't understand the discussion about brass and juice. Brass is a product, that everybody has in his sanitary installation. All valves are made in brass and it's no problem in combination with stainless steel. There are no health problems with brass.
(...)
This has been discussed ad nauseum. Here is the short version:
1) water has different chemical properties than liquid
2) water is usually basic to neutral while liquid can be anything. Brass + acid = problem
3) there are many different types of brass with different properties. Some could be used for our purposes, others not
Copper salts that can build up on brass ("Grünspan" in German) can be harmless to problematic, depending on what other materials are around.
So we can not say "Brass is poisonous" and we can not say "Brass is safe". It depends on a lot of variables and they can not all be controlled at production time. So, apart from pieces that are hidden and safe inside mods without contact to liquid, it is far safer for a manufacturer to avoid brass where he can.
And before you start on musical instruments: Yes, some mouthpieces are still made out of brass, and they DO cause problems. That is one of the reasons why many musicians use silver (edit: or at least silver plated) mouthpieces.
If it is just for the looks, go ahead and gold plate the steel pieces - it looks better than brass, too.
