Kind of a noob question but - how much does the NR wire gauge matter in relation to the R wire?
I've always used 32 gauge kanthal with 30 gauge nickel. I plan on experimenting more, with 28 gauge kanthal microcoils, twisted kanthal, etc... is my 30 gauge nickel good enough for any setup or should I get various gauges of nickel wire as well?

Personally I prefer 30ga nickel NR wire, its tougher.
I don't think it makes any difference as long as it works with your R wire.

I really want one of these things but the price is killing me. Would love to get a new set up with the SS GGTS with it but it's a lot of green.

Ok thanks Poppa D - I wasn't sure if it had to be thicker than the R wire at all times or not. And yeah I love working with the 30 gauge nickel.. much easier to work with that silver. But that's a relief, I don't want to have to buy 3 more spools of nickel wire!

Imeo, what is the exact diameter millimeter measurement of the Ithika 510 base so it will sit perfectly on top other 510 top caps?
It seems it's somewhere between 22mm & 23mm.

its 23mm xtreme. All my fat mods were at 23mm from the beggining (before 4,5 years)

After watching some videos, and asking a few questions I realize that I may have to weld wires together. A friend passed me a link to packs of prewelded wires. Does anyone have experience with these? They are prewelded and cut to length, I think this would make this a much easier and more convenient experience, as i have little experience wrapping coils and no experience with welding

I bought a bunch of the ready wires before I got my welder, and they were perfect, no worries.

I picked up a pack of 50 from Stormy's. 2.2ohm work perfectly for me on my Ithakas giving me right around 1

How do you install the center post top nut? There is no slot for a screwdriver.

subvert, I think you may be right, Thank you for your input. I just have to get smart on making coils, wicks, and what not. Think'n I may go for the Ithaka first then the SS GGTS, it may be ramen noodles for dinner next month.

EDIT: Just crunched some number, Army Pay SUCKS I need to hit the lotto. Well now I have a new goal!

yes, no slot SS. What you do it to put the nut inside ceramic, make it straight, push it with screwdriver a little and start screwing the center post from the other side. When nut makes at least one round, pull the center post back and screw the ceramic housing against post.

Tight it well by keeping the center post with pliers and screw the ceremic housing on the center post

Thanks again Imeo. I've got it now. I have to say that I love the telescopic mouthpiece. Just waiting on a few brass pieces and my Proteus and I'll be a happy man.

you will not regret the purchase! we all have spent to much money on things in our life that we regret later , i can honestly say i have never felt that way about anything gg. if you were a smoker think how quick the analogs would add up to the price of a tricked out gg setup.

it will also never let you down as far as durability, no matter where the army sends you

At the prices nearly 3 years ago when I quit smoking . . . it would have been only a couple of months for me, about the length of a pre-order (under the now current method of selling GG). That's actually how I justified my first GG purchase almost two years ago, by considering its price against the money I had previously been spending on analogs

Hi imeo. I received my telescopic mouthpiece today, but when you extend it, it is not stable, and it moves from side to side, and also it can be accidentally pushed in and it is difficult to pull it out. how can I make it more solid and stable?

Quick question before I order the ready wires, what resistance should i choose? I plan on building both single and dual coil. Also there is a comment that they are a little short, have either of you experienced this?

I'd like to be around 1-1.4ohms for both builds

Imeo, question regarding telescopic mouthpiece, is it supposed to stay up for any height? Because I realized it is most stable when you put it either the longest, the shorted, or the height of the Ithaka mouthpiece. Is anything in between OK?
