can someone please tell me if clouds of vapor sells the v2 shorter center post top nut. I see they sell one but dont know if its the shorter one that i want. They dont say the size on the sight. Thank You so much as i too am having troubles setting up in the X configuration.

Send Bruce an email through gg@cloudsofvapor.com and he will send one out to you, free of charge.

I just replaced the long center post nut with the short one that came with my Ithaka. I haven't rebuilt it yet but is this the only thing needed to fixing all the leaking? Ever since it leaked all over, I literally set my ggts and Ithaka aside and have t used it due to the inconvenience. I'm hoping this will be the fix so I can actually start enjoying my Ithaka for the first time.

Ya thats something more than the center nut. The shorter nut was just to stop some gurgling if juice happened to drip on top of the longer nut. Something ain't right in there if you're leaking.

Does anyone have any suggested solutions for my issue?

Vapor production is weak (less than a vivi nova), throat hit is stout (which is why I'm using lower nic juice), and vape is very very wet. Almost coats my throat and leaves a film. Also, juice consumption is off the chart.

Dual coil parallel (not X configuration)
32awg kanthal, .2mm nickle, 2.6 ohm on each coil (total 1.3 ohm)
2mm ekowool wicks trimmed to o-ring
6mg nic 100% VG juice
Vamo battery device

I'd really like to experience the nirvana that everyone else has been getting.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What is the maximun voltage you can configure on the Vamo with that resistance (1.3 ohms)?

If you do not have a mechanical device, I think you will get better results with a single coil configuration, using same reistance wire (Kanthal 32 AWG), lets say a 1.7 to 2.4 ohms single coil and raising the voltage.

Or you can experiment with the same final resistance (1.3ohms) but using a higher wire gauge, as 34 AWG or 36 AWG for each coil.

What I think is happening is that the maximun voltage that you can configure on your Vamo with a 1.3ohms resistance is not high enough to properly heat both coils, the resistance is low (1.3 ohms), but there is more material to heat.

If you have a mechanical device the first suggestion that comes to my mind is to lower the resistance, you can start experimenting with 2 coils, each one of 1.8ohms, for a resultant resistance of 0.9 ohms.

As you are configuring the wicks / coils in parallel, try to maintain both coils closer each other, in order that the air hits both of them.

Keep in mind that yoou need a good battery, AW IMR, MNKE IMR, Orbtronics (there is a Bishopheals thread with good info about batteries for sub ohms coils and a video as well).

I'm stoked! Ithaka shipped today by COV (and preorder on JGG placed earlier). Now need to order more kanthal and some nr wire. So far I have found 30 gauge in both 92% silver & 99%. Are either of these appropriate or do I need something else. The kanthal I've used but not the non-resistance. Thanks in advance.

Get some nickel. Silver is soft so if you have issues you won't have to wait as long for nickel.

How open is everything? Close off the mouthpiece and vape until flavor change. Jack the v higher (not sure on limitation you have) to at least break it off.

If you do rebuild, do the setup as you want, make sure both coils are close if not even crossed, wet e wick, out the mp on and vape like that. When you use that as dripper, how's the vapor?

Folks always quoted using 0.999 (99.9%) silver. I assume that's because we don't know what the other 8% is in the 92%.

.999 is a softer, more ductile material than sterling silver .925.
Both suffer from "work hardening".

"Most of us have experience in breaking a wire coat hanger by bending it back and forth many times. With the coat hanger, we were changing the hardness of the wire by "work hardening" it. Each bend increased the hardness of the wire until we saw one of the drawbacks of very hard wire -- it became brittle and broke."

I think the 999 is more forgiving and just a bit easier to work with. If you need strength, choose nickle.

Have fun
