I tried that the other day with my usual set up and I found it did not wick as well and also not as much vapour. Something did not seem right so I just took it apart and set it up in my usual way; long wick on bottom with shorter wick on top, wrapped them both up like usual and was happy as a lark , as usual.

Someone correct me out there. When I put empty wick over the coil I feel less heat. When I put empty wick under the coil I feel less vapor since air does not hit coil directly. Does this make sense or am I just paranoid?

I have tried that before with same results.

In my Odysseus V1, I install a single wick (3.5mm) a la MrKrinkle method (just wick at top, no wick on ceramic channels), that method works very good for me: no wicking problems, no leaking, no remaining liquid (all liquid is vaped), and allows me to save some wick.

Just outside my comfort zone.
The positive wire goes inside ceramic so it can't short.

I will have to try the Mr Krinkle method, so just the smaller sized wick on top, none in channels, just the wire? No problems with the positive wire making contact with metal? I assume not, with all you GG veterans giving it your approval:)

Is the wick silica or ceramic wick?

Inside the ceramic? not down the channels? and it wont touch the ring? I think there was a video, will have to check it out. Thank you all for the recommendation.

NR wires in the channels, as if you were installing a normal setup.

I use that method in my Odysseus V1 (both channels are ceramic), negative wire contact is made by trapping it with the Upper Connection Nut, like in the following picture:

If you have an Odysseus V2 (one ceramic channel (+) and one metal chanel (-)) you can put the negative wire same way as if it were and Odysseus V1, since there will not be wick on the metal channel to push the negative wire and ensure a good contact.

It looks like this, but insted mesh you use silica wick (only at the top and not down the channels):

Is the wick silica or ceramic wick?

I use 3.5mm or 3mm silica wick from COV and some times 100% cotton yarn.

I have tried the Nextel XS-116 (XC-116 is not exportable outside USA), but I didn't like it because it easily frays in little fragments.

I am happy for my Ody cause he gets some more extratime. We have been a strong team since over a years now and there are only a handful days where I didn't vape my Ody. I tried a lot of vaping gear but nothing gave me that rich sensation of the Ody...
Until now - so I am curious for the Ithaka and I strongly believe that he will take my Odys place but I enjoy every day with my metal compagnion Odysseus since then! :)

ditto - I do not understand without wick in the channels why it doesn't leak.?

The wick is in the top of the channel where it effectively absorbs the liquid while preventing it from pouring through the mouth piece.

I went ahead and tried this out of interest in all things GG. My first impression is, it works. But an interesting point to mention is that I had to open the MP a lot for good wicking to occur. My Ody is 30ga kenthal on silica at 1ohm and 4.2 volts 18650 IMR.
