Hey there,
I just wanted to say thank you for Ithaka. I haven't been very impressed with the experience I get from most of the products (dont think i'm hard too please) that I have tried. Ithaka is on a different level. It is well machined which i think is a given but also the design is amazing for the reproducible perfect vape regardless of the particular qualities of the juice you are using.
Just wanted to say thanks for making Ithaka and good work!

Sorry if this has been answered.. I'm just curious about the basic/automatic feeder slots on the ring around the rebuildable part... How does it work, does it feed liquid to the wick when you inhale (using negative/vacuum pressure) or is there a chance it can flood if this is turned on and you don't vape it for a while (overnight)?
I use 100% VG and on Odysseus I usually have to turn my mouthpiece about 2-3 full turns (720-1080 degrees) to get good juice flow.. On Ody I typically use 2.5mm wick.. I keep seeing people using 1.5mm wicks on Ithaka for dual coil so I'm not sure if I should try that or 2.5mm dual with 100% VG, and was a little unsure about the basic feed slots. I don't mind turning the mouthpiece.

Thanks guys!

Hi Sub, I use 70/30 pg/vg so I have the slots barely exposed for light basic feeding, but since you use 100% vg you should be fine with fully open basic feeding. And 1.5 mm wick seems awfully small, especially for %100 vg which wicks a little slower than thinner liquid.
On your next build, try a dual coil X with 2mm and the basic feeding half open. Make sure each coil is the same resistance. :2c:

Thanks man, sounds good. I thought 1.5mm sounded too small... I'm tempted to even try 2.5mm with an extra (maybe 1mm?) wick between the X duals.. And I'll try the basic feeding half open... I still don't quite get how it works, though... does it pull liquid when you inhale? Or does it just wick normally? And there's no way that it'll flood when it's open?

Also one more question.. if my dual coil setup equals 1ohm (which is about what I normally use on Ody single coil) will it still use the same amount of battery power or will they drain faster? I use 18350's now but just realized they may not be enough for duals? I do hope they are still good!

Just finished setting up dual coil Ithaka like on bishopheals' video clocking in at 1ohms. first wicked coil going / a second non coiled wick going \ and a second wicked coil over the first one going the same direction. I'm getting mediocre vapor out of it through my mech mod and little to no flavor at all, just silica. Juice control is open one and a half turns, 2 doesnt do anything either, and neither does all the way open

Sounds like your coils aren't working like they should. I have the same setup and have plenty flavor and vapour. Took me a couple tries to get it right.

What size wick and wire are you using? On my coiled wicks I was using 3mm with 1 strand pulled out and 0 strands pulled out on the non coiled wick.

also, how are you joining your res and no res? Standard twist join? I really want to get the tsaf but I don't trust myself enough to DIY it and im a bit iffy about the price of it still.

2.5mm wick, and a 2mm Ekowool for the 3rd one. Kanthal 32. I use standard twist join. Definitely see a tsaf in my future, this twisting stuff is getting old soon... :)

Damn! I guess I made a mistake and bought a lot of the wrong size wick. All my wick is 3.5mm. What do I need to do to make it so I can do a dual coil X set up with this size wick? Doh!!!

Thanks,

Chris

Easy, just carefully remove a couple strands from the wick. I believe 1 strand equals about .5mm? Please someone correct me if I'm wrong. So if you remove 2 strands (don't pull the strands out, hold onto the strand and twist the wick, gently pulling the strand out) you will have 2.5mm wick.
Just double check the strand size.. I think it's .5mm though

Thank you! So 2.5 mm is where I want to be for the dual coil X set up? I've seen some say 2 mm.

Thanks again,

Chris

You could always pull out some strands. Make sure to pull out the outside strands and twist the main piece as you pull along, that's what I end up doing if I need smaller

How are you liking the ekowool and how is it compared to xc116?Also, where did you get it? if you dont mind me asking. and I agree, this twisting is getting old. Do you wrap your coils tight around the wick?

I'm gonna have to try and rebuild it again today. I really want to get this thing going. Maybe try a less complicated set up; it makes me sad wasting this much silver no res wire, damn thing's expensive

Thanks you guys! I do this after I burn the wick correct?

with 2 strands will be ok , like this i set it up right now and working perfect.

edit : imeo said on his videos that ithaka works better with 2.5-3.0mm wick

Well, I guess one way to figure that out is to divide the wick size with how many strands there is?

One question fright. If you put the syringe all the way down inside Ithaka until it meets the mouthpiece, then you have to bend it a little because the fat part of the syringe is not as thin as its needle so it hits the outside of the mouthpiece. But if you dont put syrigne all the way down to the tube, Ithaka gets refilled very easy. So is there a reason to put syrigne all the way down until it meets the mouthpiece?

I figured out my problem with syringe filling my needle was bent. But now that I use a different one it is ok. I modified my mouthpiece for bottle filling. I normally fill my stuff with a bottle so before I modified it it annoyed me a little because sometimes the juice would pool up above the lip and I would think it was full when it wasn't. Now with the cuts the juice doesn't pool up at the top anymore when bottle feeding. At least according to my limited testing :D

I'm still learning about this dual coil stuff too so I'm not sure but I though I read that duals eat batteries faster. And I'm not sure about the basic feeding and flooding. I had some flooding when I refilled but not just from sitting over night. I think the basic feeding works both normally and with dry pulls, but again, I'm still in experiment phase like you
