Gentlemen, I've been saying for some time that I believe the greatest threat to the E-cig is the money the government is NOT making off of it.

tobacco tax is their baby. Every time someone gets off tobacco they loose income.

How many bans would you pass to to collect 12 BILLION dollars in five months? How many people would you kill to collect another 12 billion dollars in the following five months?

How many lies would you tell to protect that income?

We represent a big threat to that income. Sending us back to tobacco, live or die, would preserve that income.

Or, Taxing e-liquid so your 15 dollar bottle costs 45 dollars would also protect that income.

It's about the money.

theres no doubt that the government stands to lose quite a bit of income as more and more smokers turn to e-cigs. if you ask me thats why theyre letting this cause such a stir.

as more smokers become vapers instead, more revenue will be lost by big tobacco and the government alike. the more we fight for our right to e-smoke, gives them all the more reason to tax our e-smoking needs. once the powers that be truly realize the lack of harm in e-cigs vs analogs and the benefits they have to people, itll be just like anything else...theyll tax the hell out of it and let you have it at their price. funny...america got its start by not wanting to pay so many taxes to england, now we tax everything. what was it, "no taxation without representation" i believe. not that im against taxes, theyre needed to run a governed civilization, i just like the irony of the whole thing.

we can yell til our lungs collapse and send emails til our fingers bleed, but in my opinion...once time takes its course we'll still be vaping, itll just cost us about the same as our old analog habits were. theyll eventually see the light and realize how much money they can keep making from us.

My husband and I gripe about this every night! You are absolutely correct. The government sees a great way to get money...why do you think that the FDA isn't allowed to touch tobacco (though I'm sure tobacco companies pad their pockets well too). Now the FDA and government are worried because thousands of us have stopped or severely slowed down our tobacco usage...probably the most people to quit at once! They are getting scared! So, they're shutting us down! If gum worked, you would see it pulled from the shelves with some stupid excuse as to how it will give you hair cancer or something!

What bothers me most is, I love other countries and all, but I would rather spend my money to help small businesses in the US, and to stimulate the economy with all of the money I have spent in the past 6 months or so. But no! They are shutting it all down, and I have to spend my money in China (don't get me wrong, I love China), but it's not stimulating our economy, we are being forced to spend our money elsewhere, and that is a big mistake on the government's part!

Notice the stuff about Chantix making you crazy. My mom quit on Chantix successfully after smoking for 40+ years. She didn't beleive she would ever be able to, but had to, or die. She did on chantix and has been quit for more then two years.

She and her chantix friends have figured out what they are costing big tobacco and the government by being quit.

I'd like to see them try to put taxes like these on things EVERYONE needs. Like Toilet paper, 10 dollars a roll.

 I am totally with you they are already seeing the loss.

They just haven't figured out how far they want to go and who exactly they gotta get control of or silence.
Once they figure out what angle to take to get control, Whether it makes sense to us or not, and how to get the most money out of the situation they will come out decisively. Be it a total ban or a huge tax whatever works best for them and fills their pockets the most efficiently.
We will easily see whats in store for us they have no problem telling us what we are supposed to believe obvious lie or not, as long as they are getting paid and don't see anyone as a threat to their power we will get to vape.
As a very wise man once said I love my country it's just the government I don't like.

We need a sticky thread, that says "If you think this is about money post here"

This issue has been beaten to death. Of course its about money, all business is about money. Take market share from a big company and they will come after you.

However, what its about, doesnt matter. The fact is the FDA is after us. What motivates them wont change that fact.

I hate to say this but seriously?

If it was just about the tax revenue there wouldn't be any smoking bans. You'd have the Marlborro man riding round between Spongebob episodes and they'd still have packs of smokes in MRE's. (that's Meals Ready to Eat for you civilian pukes)

Simplification of the issue to this degree only makes you look like loopy nutcases who should be locked up not taken seriously.

Yes it's about money it's also about a group of companies that knowingly sold an unsafe product while denying it for decades.

Honestly if the only concern was taxation they'd just tax these friggin things and be done with it (Which I'd be ok with to be honest).

Yes there are people involved in this battle who have the banal financial motivations but many have legitimate concerns and however misguided are not doing this to be vindictive.

Recognizing that reality and trying to educate them will be far more productive than all this conspiracy conjecture.

That pretty much sums it up.

it will take a while but they will end up nameing the juice as a drug, that will be about the only part of vapeing they can say needs regulation and taxation. juice will go sky high, thats what i see happening. do you really think it costs 50 bux or more to manufacture the nicotine patches ?? of course not. it probably cost 5 bux to make the patches then the company splits the rest with the government.
it's the juice they will go after. so all you chemists figure how we can make juice.

SKEX -

YES IT IS about the money. I am not OK with them taxing these things. I have paid more than my fair share in my lifetime of smoking. The taxes are supposed to pay for healthcare related to illness due to tobacco use. Well, I am not using tobacco any longer and if everyone else didn't, illness due to tobacco use would be a thing of the past. I want their hands out of my pockets.

The bans - they are in place to appease the antis. The government knows how addictive smoking is and most people will never stop, no matter how many bans there are. The Government is no better than a drug dealer. A drug dealer always wants you to come back and never wants you to get clean. The DEALER just wants your money. He doesn't give a rat's ... if you get cancer.

What do you think would happen to BIG TOBACCO and BIG PHARMA if everyone quit smoking and went to vaping? No more nicotrol, nicorette
gum and patches, zyban, chantix and billions in lost tax revenue. Who would be padding the pockets of our legislators?

If Big Brother cared about our well being - he would have banned the sale and manufacture of tobacco products in the US once they discovered how harmful they were.

"The Government is no better than a drug dealer."

This is true. The government has actually been a drug dealer for years.

Look at the Bay of Pigs which led to the Cuban Missile Crisis which nearly led to the elimination of the human race through nuclear weapons. How did they government raise money to attempt to overthrow communist Cuba???

The FBI and the CIA worked with dope pushers and mob syndicates in Cuba and Tampa Flordia...they worked together to distribute ....... and ...... in America to raise the money to try and overthrow Fidel Castro and the communists in America...J. Edgar Hoover and Frank Costello (syndicate mob piece) met in central park on weekends to set everything up.

Our own government... pushing illicit chemical substances, which we ironically get locked up for if we use or sell - these ****ing hypocrites.

What makes anyone think that anything has changed? These ****ers will strive to make their pockets as fat as they can at the expense of anything and everyone.

****, the whole human race nearly got eliminated due to the hypocrisy and drug pushing of the government of the United States.

They are going to shut us down at all costs.
