When you think about it...

The word cigarette kind of means "little cigar" or "female cigar"

Assuming the brand name never existed, nico-rette would be quite an accurate descriptor of the device.

I have heard a campaign for calling them "vaporettes" - interesting, yet somehow not quite there.

The irony, of course is that anything with the brand name in question is NOTHING LIKE A CIGARETTE except maybe the inhaler. Maybe.

I used the hyphen in case I break any rules mentioning the brand name.

Hehe maybe he's from the younger generation who are just coming to learn about NRTs.
Unfortunately, nicorette is the name of that nicotine chewing gum that the FDA approves, costs a fortune, and doesn't work. (At least for most of us.)

You must know this--probably a mental slip.

But keep thinking !

Pretty sure he knows it's a gum....based on the "Assuming....

He is talking about the meaning behind words, Etymology.
Cigarette Means...Little cigar or a feminine cigar
Nicotine chemical is named after the plant Nicotiana

So Nicorette.....would mean something like Little nicotine

Everyone,

ROFL. So it's now clear talking about Nicorette is OK on this forum. My message appears cryptic because I thought it might not be okay.

The general idea I was getting at is the name "Nicorette" in my opinion applies better to electronic cigarettes than it does to Nicorette's actual products. I go on to say damn Nicorette for thinking of that first!

It really should be like "hey, let's go have a nicorette." Catch me?

Don't get me wrong wolf, I like vaporette, but I don't know, it just seems... not bad-..., subconsciously.

Rose, your edit furthers your understanding of what I'm getting at, kudos.

I call my devices my 'vapes' but I also refer to a session as a 'vape.'

FYI - According to an ECF poll, 30% of 460 vapers like "vaporette" over "electronic cigarette"

A rose by any other name will still vape the same????

I would like the name to be changed, but it is what it is. I guess PV works. However, I do think it would be cool to distance the name from cigs competely. Plus people have been using vaporizers for years to deliver other drugs.

One of these days someone will find a better name and it will stick.
