I was dry burning at 3 volts and 3-4 second bursts. Thought that should be pretty safe. Maybe the coil was defective. I kind of expect some small percentage of that. If that's what it was, no big deal, so long as they ALL don't do that.

OK, so be really, really careful when dry burning after a cleaning (Phoenix XL 1.5 BC). Chris says this on the video, and I thought I was being careful, short bursts only, but I still popped the coil. Sucks cause it wasn't really dirty anyway, I just wanted to try cleaning one.
I now have a "Phoenix spare parts" box started at least.

They won't. But the longer you go between cleanings, and the more crudded up the coil gets, the more likely it is to pop during dry burnings.
It wasn't very dirty at all. If there was still some water on/in it could that have done it? Maybe I didn't get it dry enough first.

I've been cleaning them in a cheap ultrasonic cleaner to speed up the process. So far I've been using regular vodka as I'm not sure if everclear is safe to use in an ultrasonic.
After cleaning and dryburning it's like new. Over a month (6 weeks now) and they are vaping great!
that's what i use Har, speeds it up but no better than time and shaking IMHO. I use ETA (everclear) but seen all the warnings, haven't had a fire yet but could see it if the cleaner was left on, mine only runs 4 min at a time.
I've seen people recommending soaking in coca cola over night. Anyone tried that?
instead of test tubes, how about taking an old small juice bottle and cutting off the top? would that work? on the ones I have you could still screw on the cap and be able to really shake.
Yesterday I was vaping my 3ml phoenix all day, working great recently cleaned only 2 or 3 refils and all of the sudden it started leaking out the bottom every time I checked the bat there was liquid. So I soaked in hot water last night will dry burn later. Any thoughts like what I should look for to fix.

I went and bought some test tubes with rubber stoppers, and filled them with a little bit of Everclear..not to much, maybe an inch or so...When a Phoenix or Vivi head starts to have a hard draw, or flavor drops off, I just take the head and give them a soak for a day. A quick dry burn, then air dry another day...good as new.
Do I need 40+ ?, why no of course...I have this wierd paranoia, that maybe one day, I wont be able to get them anymore, so I'm sorta stock piling...I'm kinda like the dooms day prepper of Vaping. I'm starting to stock pile Vivi's and coil heads next..
God forbid, our wonderful"government" tries to put an end to our passion, I'll be able to keep on putting out plumes for years...

I have no idea how to disassemble the phoenix to soak that part. I've only cleaned them like the video. It looks like it's glued on. Okies like their Everclear so I can get that lol.
i just took some big ones appart, screw into a ego something so you can wiggle it, grab with cloth on other end and pul and wiggle, first one is scarie but it works, i dont even take the top ring seals out. If it comes appart and the SS tube is still over the coil/wick wiggle it off, it's easy. be brave girl GO FOR IT
FIXED ALL OF MINE, didn't even have to change the top ring YET though i expect air from there to be the week point for leakinng, havn't even had an outer tube fail, was alwase a fit&finish on parts matting inside
yes, wait and get some everclear, first time is stressful enough with out that pressure. are you using other systems or been on just this? if i had to pick only one it would be the PHOENiX bottom coil, 3 ml flavor but if that's ALL you have it's edgie living, you'll handle the stress of taking it apart if that's how you live
Well I have tons of XL LR cartos (smoktec, boge, resurrectors) which rarely work so yes, Charlie, this is my only system. Since it seems they are discontinuing the sleeved replacements, I ordered some sleeveless yesterday. Not liking the look of sleevless as much but they will work
I think Zipper may be able to supply us with some but I'm sure it would be at a scalper's price HA
I live on the edge with somethings but not my vaping! lol
