It's interesting that some people honestly think "high end" mod prices are justifiable.

One would think anyone in here with machining/cnc experience complaining about the pricing of mods would see the opportunity to make money in this market.

Now lets get back to hating the people who we should be hating. I'm talking specifically about Lance Hunter, the ....... who lives down the street from me. Let's forget he's filthy rich. No, he is beyond rich, he has vast wealth. Let's forget that he collects Lamborghini's - yes COLLECTS them - and uses them for daily drivers! Let's forget about the fact that he's extraordinarily handsome and brings home wave after wave of what can only be super models or playboy playmates. And lets forget that after he spends his night pleasuring unbelievably beautiful women and that he spends his days doing pro-bono eye surgery for little kids who would otherwise go blind. Let's forget that when he doesn't vacation in the Riviera, he's off doing Doctors Without Boarders work... Where was I?...Oh yeah, lets forget about all that and discuss why we should really hate him...his dog pooped on my yard and he didn't clean it up immediately. My wife says its because I want to be him and can't but I think it's cause of the dog pooping incident. He cleaned it up the next day and resodded part of my yard when I complained about it but I still hate him. I mean, I just want ONE Lamborghini and ONE supermodel...Is that too much to ask? I hate him.

I have found 1 instance where a clone is better than the original- when it comes to vaping. Tatroe caps for the ProTank 2 blow away the cheaply made stock caps. They fit better, look better, have better air flow and have the same precise threading a ProVari has. There is also little to no chance you will break off the 510 connection in a PV.

I hate throwing names out but I've personally tested The Nemesis clone to an original. The voltage drop after adding metal lube to the threads was exactly the same. One cost my friend 185 dollars plus shipping, my clone was under 30 bucks.

In the case of Tatroe, the 'clone' costs more than the original. Their ProTank 2 caps cost about what a PT2 on sale goes for, so about 5X what Kanger replacement caps cost.

$25 is still too much for a blender. I mean it's just a pitcher with blades that spin in the bottom right? These blender makers intentionally run out of blenders so they can charge an arm and a leg for their blender. It's a government scam...I'm worried that my blender is made out of something that might not be good for me, too. Pretty soon, we won't be able to get blenders....Blending is as bad as smoking.....or mixing. It looks like mixing, and mixing is bad. I only blend where I use to mix. I don't blend in restaurants...nor do I BOOP.

sorry...these threads are starting to get to me.

I have 27 different blenders from Osterizer down to a 9.95 Ronco chop o matic. They all blend but I can tell a difference in the quality of the blending from my higher end blenders. You can waste your money on a fasttech blender if you like but my Margaritas are smooth and perfect every time. No embarrassing Ice chunks at my partys! Hope you dont get lead poisoning from your chrome coated blades and my glass pitcher will never crack no matter what I put in it over your plastic one!!!!! ;-)

There are several people in this thread that say they have professional experience with CNC and metal working. I would love to hear one of you give an estimate on what the actual manufacturing costs of the good kind of higher end mods actually are. Say, price per unit for 5.000 units.

I have very mixed feelings about the higher end of the market. Take the GP Paps. Looks flawless and has a button design that seems fairly unique with its "touch-like" throw. The manufacturer also states on his site that he went through several CNC facilities before finding one that manufactured with the eye for detail and precision he wanted. I like that. A little insight into what goes into nitpicking for quality. Also, the Paps-es are far from the most expensive mods out there.

Take the King mod in comparison. Doesn't look like it brings anything different to the table. And, to my eyes, it looks like grabbed a couple of hex nuts, cut a tube, slapped on a standard-issue button and polished the heck out of it. Costs more than a Paps. For me, it's value would be far lower than the PAps.

Must be said I have not held a King mod, so there might be some magic involved that I wouldn't know about. All I'm saying is that some higher end mods seems to justify their higher price more than others.

Edit: GP Paps, not Gus!! Where did that come from?!

Vitamix??? Oh, ok...so you support the clubbing of baby seals then... nice. It's people like you that make Mr. Oster not want to design another blender. You, sir, make me SICK! You probably haven't even been blending that long.

By the way, how does that Vitamix handle sub-ohm blending?
