I got my very first kit on 3/5, started vaping for a couple of days and noticed my mouth was dry as can be, couldn't drink enough to make it go away.

On 3/8 I got a very bad sinus infection...got on antibiotics, feel better so today on 3/16 I decided to start vaping again.
Again with the dry mouth, I've drank 1.5L of water and a 32 oz orange Gatorade and my mouth still feels like cotton balls.
I fly for a living where relative humidity on a 3hr flight drops down to about 2-3% (2-3 flights a day for 4 days) so I already drink about 2L of water a day to keep moist, but if I start vaping while at work I don't possibly see how I can drink enough to keep hydrated if I can't do it while I'm at home.
Is this because of the PG, should I try VG?...I really want vaping to work but my mouth wasn't this dry even when I was smoking analogs.

Hmm. See, I may differ on the PG sensitivity opinion. There is no good reason why PG would cause more dryness than VG. At least not enough to cause that significant of a change for you.

As someone prone to sinus infections (oh man, am i prone), I totally (literally) feel your pain on this one. Before I fly, I always take sudafed and I hit the saline spray like it owes me money (though i don't fly nearly as often as you do). I almost always get a sinus infection when i fly. You probably aren't as prone to them as I am, but the amount of time you're spending in such a dry environment will definitely up your likelihood of not expelling the natural mucus that your body produces. Not expelling this mucus means that it's hanging out and causing infections.

What you really need is a form of a portable humidifier. I don't know what the outlet set up is for you, though... or what your feelings would be on a mini humidifier. That's the big thing that will kill you for sinus issues.

If portable humidity isn't an option, I'd up my intake of hot beverages (tea, coffee) and when drinking them, make a conscious effort to inhale the steam (don't stick your nose right in it, that's how you get burnt, :p ) as often as possible. Also, saline nasal spray is a great helper.

Hit me up if you need anything.

Not sure if this would help the OP, but anyone prone to sinus infections should take a look at nasal salt water irrigation and neti pots. They can work wonders!

WOW! Some quick responses, Thank You. I did some research and I have to agree with Val on this one..that PG or VG will have the same effects on drying my sinuses out. Val trying to take anything small with me on the road is pretty much impossible. I'm going to start using the saline solution to see if that helps. I bought a Neti Pot when I got my sinus infection last week, so I will try to do that every day I'm at home..don't know if I will be able to fit that in my bag but I will try. I still can't get over how drying this stuff is, and I only vape maybe 4-5 cigarettes a day, I can't imagine if I vaped a carto or two a day ;o) Also, my ENT did do a cat scan of my sinuses and I do have a very slight deviated septum. He said surgery was optional, nothing he really felt urgent to do.
I'm hoping this is all related to my latest sinus infection, I only usually get one sinus infection a year...in March. I can usually fight my way through some that try to start throughout the year by using the saline solution and really washing out my sinuses....but I'm afraid with vaping that may become harder to do.

Just a thought as I am nowhere near qualified to give medical advice, but I experienced really dry mouth, sore throat, and coughing when I started vaping also. I just forced through it and it all eventually went away within a few weeks. I think that was one of the ways my body was reacting to cig withdrawal.

I did go get some VG from the drugstore (CVS, Walmart, riteaid) and added a drop to each of my carts and that helped. A BIG bottle was only $3. If your interested in trying that, look near the womens facial cleansers. Here is a link

Try gum, I like strike, keeps my mouth real moist. Mints work well also.

Hope it helps

As Steve pointed out, gum and mints work wonders. And a personal humidifier is a great idea as well. I don't get super dried out usually, but from time to time I'll get really focused on something and mindlessly chain vape. When this happens, I sometimes forget to drink enough water. I'd bet a humidifier would help out with that. I'm thinking of getting this hot little number ($20!) ThinkGeek :: Japanese R2-D2 USB Humidifier

Ahh, I had the surgery to correct a deviated septum when I was 17. I came out of is with 2 black eyes and all kinds of crankiness.... BUT.. It reduced the number of sinus infections I get by more than half.

If you do take this option, give yourself like 2 weeks to heal. Don't mess with changing altitudes while you have healing going on in there.
