Ahh, I had the surgery to correct a deviated septum when I was 17. I came out of is with 2 black eyes and all kinds of crankiness.... BUT.. It reduced the number of sinus infections I get by more than half.

If you do take this option, give yourself like 2 weeks to heal. Don't mess with changing altitudes while you have healing going on in there.

had mine done on 12/19/09 and in one month i was just fine.

The black eye issue is pretty much done now but it all depends on the surgeon, the method(i had coblation) and how bad it is.

I would say a slight deviation and only 1 sinus infection a year then the septum is probably not the cause. I would say he needs to use saline(ocean spray is great for traveling) and make sure that he is not exhaling through the nose. That really drys things out. This method should make things better especially cause hes a light vaporer. Also if things are getting swolen and the saline is no good maybe nasonex would do the trick?? I would ask my doc about it.

Hey guys thanks again for all the good advice. Steve I will try this stuff they were giving out on airplanes called Halls Refresh, I have a little stash ;o) I saved up. I thought they were cough drops, but after looking on the halls website I found out they are a mouth moisturizing drop. I do have Nasonex so I've been doing that for about a week and I will keep doing the Neti Pot and Natural Saline and hopefully I can fight through this and keep on vaping. :0)

I wanna see pictures of cranky Val with black eyes!!!! :D

my parents have one somewhere! they also have one of me right after I got all my wisdom teeth out and had the cheeks that looked like there was softball in each one. These will NEVER be leaked out!

I'm one of those people that bruises from complete and utter nonsense so no matter what? messing around is gonna bruise me all up. After jiu jitsu, I get little finger print bruises on my arms! It's actually pretty funny. Who needs a tan when you can have superficial bruising??

If it's any consolation, I had the very same problem.. It was horrible! Wasn't worth it to me to quit vaping (for a few medical reasons I CAN'T go back to smoking) so I just stuck through it- wasn't til you mentioned it just now that I realized the problem gradually went away for me! Wasn't even a couple weeks for me I don't believe... Maybe if you can try to stick it out , hopefully you'd be lucky enough for the dehydrated feeling to go away for you too?.. Wishing you luck on it!

WOW! . I bought a Neti Pot when I got my sinus infection last week, so I will try to do that every day I'm at home..don't know if I will be able to fit that in my bag but I will try.

Just go to the drugstore and buy a rubber bulb ear syringe to use instead of the neti pot. That is what my ENT recommended for me years ago, and it works great and would be easy to carry.

Hmmm.... I see a stop at CVS on my way home.

I get the cottonmouth too, but I don't vape frequently so it's not out of control. Besides, increased water intake is a healthy side effect :D. As long as it's water and not soda.

Thanks K9, will head to CVS today and pack that away in my travelpro. I just have to put in the effort now to make sure I keep my sinuses hydrated. One of the many routines as I'm getting older :D

Sorry to hear about your difficulties! FWIW, I have the same issues albeit not as severe as yours. Im a f/a and mainly work International Flights averaging between 8-14hrs in length and have this issue when Im flying. I strictly use VG cartos and juice while Im on the bird, and back to PG/VG mix when home.

Thinking back, the dry mouth was the absolute worst when I first started vaping... and gradually got better after a few weeks.

Might I suggest you give Biotene mouthwash and toothpaste a shot for awhile? It is designed to combat dry mouth symptoms and can be bought at most Pharmacies/walmart/target stores. Hard candy and or mints can also help you out on this issue.

I hope you can figure this one out, as I dont know what I would do without my VK while Im on the road!

    Safe Travels!

Thanks for your help, I will go and order a package of premium pg cartos and a package of vg cartos and try to use the vg ones on the road and see if that helps. I'm sure it's just my body adjusting and having a sinus infection last week probably didn't help any. Who do you fly for?

I noticed a lot of drying, especially upon waking, during the first month even while drinking extra water each day. Since then, though, everything's been fine--back to normal. I guess it was just an adjustment to quitting cigs and starting vapes. But I've continued drinking the extra water because of how shiny and soft it makes my hair. :D
